With a rapid growth of Internet usage, e-commerce projects, such as content management systems, on-line shops, social networking pages, and online web- based gaming, meet new performance challenges. In this note we enclose information on database systems using MySQL working in the background of web-based applications. Effect of table name length in simple queries is measured in experimental environment. Conclusions over execution time and amounts of data sent are made. Moreover, comparison performance tests for long and short table names are made on a model and two real web-based applications. Finally, simple yet effective database scheme optimization is proposed.

W artykule zawarto teoretyczne podstawy opisujące zależności między wybranymi parametrami technicznymi morskiego radaru nawigacyjnego a jego maksymalnym zasięgiem wykrywania w zmiennych warunkach hydrometeorologicznych. Przedstawione rozważania stanowią podstawę do budowy stanowiska umożliwiającego symulacyjne badanie zasięgów wykrywania obiektów na morzu. Artykuł jest prezentacją części wyników badań realizowanych w ramach projektu badawczego pt. "Automatyczny proces wyznaczania pozycji jednostki pływającej z wykorzystaniem metod nawigacji radarowej" finansowanego ze środków MNiSW na naukę w latach 2007-2010.

The paper describes theoretical fundamentals of interdependence between some technical parameters of a navigational radar and its maximum detection range under changing weather conditions. The analyses form a base for building a stand to be used to investigate the ranges of detecting objects at sea. The paper presents part of results of investigations conducted within the framework research project called 'Automatic process of fixing a vessel's position with radar navigation methods' financed by Ministry of Science and Higher Education.

A rapid technical development that took place in recent years and a great number of information sources applied in combat operations caused that the notion of „electronic warfare”, binding in Western publications, has gained a crucial importance. At present it includes not only using data carried out through electromagnetic field but acoustic one as well. Electronic warfare of this kind can be faced in sea operations. The article presents the significance of some selective aspects of electronic warfare in modem sea operations, probable areas of operation and suggestions how to fight against maritime elements of Russia’s sonar reconnaissance system.

W artykule przedstawiono opis procedury wyznaczania obszarów radiolokacyjnego pokrycia gwarantowanego przez system technicznej obserwacji MW. Zdefiniowane zostały dane wejściowe i wyjściowe i wyjściowe oraz algorytm działania procedury . W dalszej części artykułu przedstawione zostały przykładowe wyniki badań symulacyjnych dla wybranych elementów systemu obserwacji technicznej MW RP. Prezentowane w artykule teoretyczne założenia mogą stanowić podstawę konstrukcji komputerowego modelu do analizy obszarów radiolokacyjnego pokrycia w systemie obserwacji technicznej MW RP.

The paper describes a procedure used to determine radar coverage areas provided by the system of technical surveillance in the Navy. Imput and output data as well as algorithm of procedure performance were defined. The further part of the paper presents examples of the results of simulation studies for some selected elements in the system of technical surveillance in the Polish Navy. The theoretical assumptions presented in the paper can constitute the basis for developing a computer-based model to be used for analyzing radar coverage areas in the system of technical surveillance in the Polish Navy.

The paper presents the results of simulation investigations in effectiveness of employment of SART radar transponder in the maritime rescue system, based on evaluation of probability and distance of its detection with navigation radar under changeable weather conditions of the Baltic. The results presented in the paper can e use of in the rescue system of the Polish Navy.

The paper list out the features that characterize types and kinds of waving in the Southern Baltic and it describes its influence on rolling and pitching of selected 11'IJl!S of ships - carriers of navigational radars. The further part of the paper presents theoretical fundamentals of the influence of sea state (sea waving) on the detection ranges of shipboard search radars as well as conclusions drawn from simulation investigations conducted in this field.
