Literary scholars generally attribute a fascination with technology to the avant-garde poets, sometimes even writing about the typical avant-garde cult of the machine and civilisation. The example of Neumann’s poetry, however, shows that the purpose of these avant-garde activities need not have been a glorification of technology. Rather, they were interested in the subjugation of technology, because in the early 20th century it still aroused widespread terror. In Neumann’s famous book Nové zpěvy, this process of taming technology takes on an extremely sophisticated form: it proceeds from a state of suspicion about machines on to full acceptance of the major civilisational changes at the turn of 20th century. The detailed analyses carried out in this article show that the Czech author’s poems are never an expression of delight about technology alone, but an expression of delight at a world in which the sphere of technology and the natural world are one, harmonious whole. This means that the affirmation of technology is not possible without the prior affirmation of life itself.

The article deals with the issue of incorporating the school subject technology, with its interactive content, into the system of educational subjects at elementary school. It should make a significant contribution to the technical education of pupils and their future professional orientation. Technical education is an organic part of general education, as was also underlined by the UNESCO World Organization. Already in 1974, it announced a program according to which technical education should aim at acquiring the basic knowledge in the field of technology and its practical application in solving technical problems. Our State Educational Program supports a comprehensive approach to developing pupils‘ ability to learn, act, evaluate, understand and comprehend, at a given level of education. It is a starting point and a binding document for creating an individual school educational program that takes into account specific local and regional conditions and needs.

The analysis of dynamic mathematics software (DMS) suggests the presence of a large number of computer tools to support the solving of mathematical problem. A computer mathematical tool is the algorithm of the software or the software itself, which is used to create or investigate mathematical objects or their components using numerical or geometric characteristics of the objects. The possession of these tools is a necessary feature of the professional math teacher. That is why the technology of the development of skills to use it is an urgent problem, which must be solved during the study of special courses. Authors tested the traditional methods of teaching of the special course «Computer Applications in the Study of Mathematics», which is provided by the curriculum of the preparation of the math teacher in A. S. Makarenko Sumy State Pedagogical University. The main tasks of the course are formation of skills to solve typical problems of school mathematics with the use of computer tools; formation of complete computer mathematical tools as a means of studying; formation of skills to select a right computer tool; formation of skills to choose the best mathematical computer tool for the visualization of conditions, for the step-by-step demonstration of the solution, for producing faster results, for checking the answer. This technology of the development of skills to use a computer tool, which turns out to be effective, is described on the example of the study of the topic «Geometric transformation on the plane». The students are divided into 4 working groups (according to the number of DMS that are studied (for example, Gran2d, The geometer’s SketchPad, GeoGebra, MathKit). Each group is asked to solve the same problem in the selected DMS. Each group shows the solution of the problem or its absence or inability. Then each of the proposed solutions is discussed in details. The advantages and the disadvantages of the selected computer tools and the tools themselves are determined. The attempt to draw a conclusion about the rational choice of DMS and computer tools that were used in solving this problem is made. Students returned to the solution of identical problems after discussion and filled in the comparison table. This study technology is used for the last three years. Its effectiveness was checked according to the Wilcoxon-Mann-Whitney test at the significance level of 0.05.

The emergence of flipped instruction has provided new opportunities to improve English language learning. The present study attempted to investigate the effects of flipped learning strategy on enhancing the vocabulary knowledge of Iranian EFL learners. To this end, the authors assigned 26 learners from an English institute to the flipped and conventional groups. They adopted a two-group counterbalanced design in this research. In the flipped classroom, the teacher posted the course materials via Telegram in advance to the class. Inside the classroom, the participants engaged in various peer and group activities including pre-communicative sentence arrangement, communicative tasks, pair, and group discussion, role-play and storytelling. The data were from multiple data sources including a vocabulary knowledge test, a student-recorded portfolio and interviews. The results revealed that the participants performed better in the conventional classroom than the flipped learning classroom. However, they did not have positive attitudes toward inverted learning. The authors presented insights into the impacts of flipped instruction on the quality of vocabulary learning and offered recommendations and implications for future practice.

This exploratory study analyzed students’ perception of a paperless English classroom to identify participants who successfully used the paperless environment. The participants (n = 179) were tasked to answer a questionnaire. Results only showed a significant difference in the amount of time the participants used their PCs to work on their assignments; however, PCs’ prior use was not a factor. The transition from a traditional paper-based classroom to a paperless one cannot be taken for granted. Sufficient instruction on how the digital materials can be accessed is necessary for some learners to embrace a paperless classroom.

The article refers to poetry that is regarded from a new media perspective. The author claims that both untraditional and traditional (inscriptive) forms of poetry require new media perspectives. Such an assumption seems essential now, especially since technology is becoming socialized and traditional systems of art have been deconstructed. The article aims at justifying such assumptions and describing the consequences for poetry.

Technology is involved in creating new objects, processes, structures, dependencies that have never existed before. Engineering technology of creating new material objects or preparing spaces for different human or animal activity encompasses: 1) engineering sciences, 2) engineering processes of production, 3) products and spaces. Within engineering sciences there are: metrology, material science, energy science, machine science, electro-technique, electronics, automation, robotics, informatics, and tele-communication. The engineering process consists of several stages: analysis of needs, designing, production, usage and maintenance, fixing and parts exchange, waste disposal, marketing, development of products. The sport of today has the same aims as earlier: competitors must be faster, jump farther and higher, lift heavier loads, shoot with higher precision at the target, show better tactical solutions. Engineering helps the above mentioned problems significantly. Within sport engineering products one can present those concerning the body, movable, immovable, those concerning information technology, and miscellaneous ones. There are also different spaces used by sportspersons.

With the development of science and technology, a basically optimistic ideology of progress has emerged. This deterministic attitude has been challenged in recent decades as a result of harmful side-effects generated by the way technology and science have been approached and used. The study presented here is a part of a larger international and comparative study dealing with global/environmental issues related to political orientation, science and technology. 3 080 pre-service teachers from Finland, Greece, Sweden, Japan and Holland answered a closed-end survey instrument. The results of this study show that none of the sample country respondents identified themselves as optimists concerning the impact of science and technology on society and environment. The no-stance and the pessimistic attitudes towards technology and science seem to derive from the human and environmental costs associated with science and technology development. A strong connection was found between environmental consciousness and attitudes towards the role and impact of science and technology on society. These results indicate that society and education, in particular, should place higher critical concerns about scientific and technological issues and their relation to the development of a sustainable society.

The influence of the latest technologies on the lawmaking process is undoubtedly significant and with the growing popularity of technological phenomena (artificial intelligence, the Internet of Things, Big Data) it is becoming larger. It is important that rules adapt to natural behavior in the information society, and not vice versa. The development of modern technologies contributes to changing existing business models and consumer behavior – inter alia the draft directive on copyright in the digital single market indicates difficulties concerning legal regulating of these phenomena. On the other hand an example of regulating legal status of machine datashows that the establishment of another exclusive right can have disastrous consequences for innovation.

Development of technoscience and technologies in our times cause a lot of dangers regarding human being. It is happening on an unprecedented scale. Social media can manipulate posts and mediated data. Neuro-science, bio-science and technologies mixed with agencies can lead to manipulation of personal data. Even our brains are in danger because of taking part in computer games. Furthermore, in fact nobody knows how financial markets operate. All this regards people in all the world. These processes are not depending on citizens because are not recognised. Reality is endangered by falsehood: social falsehood. The article shows some of ways can provide stability and clearness in human ethic which oppose these falsehood. This ethic is based on Christian anthropology, in particular two attitudes: solidarity and protest (against badness) in opposite of attitudes conformity and avoidance. Solidarity and protest would ensure security in human ambience, eliminate unfair practices of manipulation, especially in virtual life. In view of technoscience and technologies only return to basic of human existence arouse hope for develop of human being. In spite of this anthropology which is real and positive answer for these dangers everyone have to find exit from these dangerous situations by myself.

The author highlights the need for the societies to become aware of the ecologically motivated ethics of responsibility. She discusses the division of ecological practices into “green” (e.g. establishments of reserves, protection of endangered species) and “grey” ones, which have been analyzed by P. Virilio, who defined them as “no longer an ecology of substance, but an […] ecology of the shrinking world.” According to the author, ecologically committed art contributes to propagating responsible attitudes, by drawing for instance on the tradition of avant-garde commitment. It is manifested in all currents which expose the dangers of the advancing technology and look for means of overcoming such threats (grey ecology).
