Transgenerational effects are well-known in clinical work. The effect of trauma may appear in those persons who themselves had not been directly involved in the original traumatic event, but their ancestors somehow passed it on to them. The modern epigenetic research provides biological explanation concerning the mechanism of transgenerational transmission. This means that different sets of genes can be silenced or activated depending on the epigenetical mechanisms, meanwhile the basic DNA sequence is the same. This way the epigenetical mechanisms allow the organism to react quickly to the environmental change, and these can be transmitted to the next generation if the conditions remain the same. This paper – following the short discussion of these mechanisms – raises some perinatal and psychotherapeutical implications of these phenomena.

The study is a part of the author's PhD thesis. The thesis seeks solutions for quality based information retrieval, based upon text analysis, stating that quality content analysis must start from the linguistic analysis of the text. The technological developments of the last decades show that only some aspects of the quality information provision can be solved by automation. Modern computer technology can handle vast amount of information very fast and correctly. But the larger the amount of information is the more difficult is to design search engines which promote quality based selection. Artificial intelligence cannot solve all the problems of quality text analysis, but can be a good help in order to focus our resources on intellectual problems instead of mechanic tasks. The study shows some very promising research projects representing the very new approaches of text-based information retrieval. The projects mainly are parts of the American TREC program.

The paper summarizes the common aspects and the differences of the placebo/nocebo and suggestion. To understand better the placebo effect, it would be important to take into consideration that the suggestibility of patients is hightened compared to the rational, waking, healthy person. This way patients interpret the communicative messages differently. So in the everyday practice - to increase the benefit of placebo effect and decrease the nocebo effect - a much greater role of carefully applied suggestive communication is recommended.

The study - based upon an international survey about content representation in online databases - examines the Hungarian situation. It is a survey of 16 Hungarian reference databases, regarding their subject representation tools (number, source, notation, content and context). In international comparison, we have to admit that the existing level of subject representation in Hungarian databases is not sufficient for a more detailed content analysis. As the quantity of data available online is growing, we must develop more sophisticated services in order to represent scientific literature according to its value. This quality development could have a positive impact both on the literature and on the information seeking habits. We must find the way to ensure quality selection.

In the present research the visual modality of the imaginative activity's synchronizational process, the Visual Imaginative Synchrony experienced by interactional partners (shortened form: VIS) has been examined. The VIS is the kind of interactional synchrony phenomenon when the imaginative activity is in harmony between two individuals. The testing of the VIS can be applied in hypnosis and awake settings as well. For the research of the VIS the authoresses received a pattern with medium dispersion by the side of different dimensions, with the help of a standardized method. To explore the possible synchrony between the experienced images a VIS test was developed which applies both drawing and a written description. Throughout the one-one and a half hour long, standardized awake research settings the interactional partners filled in the VIS test in connection with five motives, also the VVIQ, ABS, PCI, DIH, Reading the Mind in the Eyes Test. When the similarity of the dyads' VIS tests were judged the optimum methodology proved to be the group setting, where every pair of VIS tests were judged by three independent participants, on the same location, not knowing one another's answers. The judges decided on the basis of their own preferences, attitudes and personality. The high VIS-dyad scores were re-tested by three new independent judges. The authoresses found a reliably judged synchrony at 22.92% of the dyads (n = 48). The validity probes suggest that in the case of the awake settings there is a correlation between the VIS and the Positive Affect subscale of the PCI and Communion subscale of the DIH. Their results are promising that a new version of interactionally synchronious phenomena is emerging that can be reliably ensured in a waking context.

We live in an information era. Information has become a popular commercial product. Processing and disseminating information have become important businesses. Storage, processing and access represent fewer and fewer problems, thanks to the new technologies (cheap tools with great storage capacities that are being handled with more and more common information skills). With the increase in quantity, more problems arise regarding relevancy, How can the existing subject representation and information retrieval tools of the databases answer this challenge? At what level are they able to solve the problem of quality information provision? The study is a survey of 50 different online reference databases, examining the characteristics of their subject representation solutions.

This research examines the concordance process of the visual modality of imaginative activity experienced by interactional partners, the Visual Imaginative Synchrony (VIS). It is proposed that VIS is an interactional synchrony phenomenon which involves a natural form of interpersonal adjustment, involving a harmonising of imaginative activity which is identifiable by an external observer. Here VIS has been applied in the hypnotic as well as in the waking state. Stimulus words were obtained from a standardized process, and a VIS test applying a combination of drawing and description was developed. This was completed by the participants of the dyads after each of 5 stimulus words. We defined VIS values by the evaluation of the dyads’ VIS tests by independent raters. Here we present the results from standardized hypnosis and waking contexts, as well as the relationship of VIS with psychological criteria measured with other tests (Vividness of Visual Imagery Questionnaire (VVIQ), Archaic Involvement Measure (AIM), Phenomenology of Consciousness Inventory (PCI), Dyadic Interaction Harmony Questionnaire (DIH), Reading the Mind in the Eyes Test (RMET)). Based on the results we identify a new interactional synchronization phenomenon which can be reliably measured in both waking and hypnotic states.

The hypnotherapy has been extensively used for assuaging of pain for a long time, nevertheless it is quite unknown to the patients and the physicians. As a result of the hard work of hypnosis researchers we can aquire very important experiences about the effect and the neurophysiological background of the method as well. The aim is to integrate our experiences into the perspective of painstudies of recent days so as to be available to a wider strate of physicians. In the last 15 years the sudden development of the brain imaging technics has enabled the researchers to examine the structures taking part in the development of nociception. We survey the mechanism of the development of nociception and the roles of the parts of the pain neuron matrix. The psychiologists deserve invaluable credit for introducing how the pain neuron matrix activated by the primer activation of the medial part is. The new experiences about the mechanism of empathic pain and the pain induced by hypnosis help to show that nociception can be developed also without the physical stimulus of the body. It helps us to better understand the mechanism of chronic pain. We show the cognitive regulation as the basic mechanism of the painkiller effect of the psychotherapies, furthermore the modulation role of the attention, the previous expectation, the revaluation and the mood. Finally we introduce the results of the studies of painkilling in hypnosis, which give information about the neurogical background of the modified consciousness and the painkilling.
