Despite the large growth of close relationships literature, partner behavioural control has been rarely the primary focus of research. It is also evident that the instruments for measuring partner behavioural control are scarce. Thus, the present study aims to develop and validate a 9-item Brief Partner Behavioural Control Scale (B-PBCS). The validity and reliability of the B-PBCS were examined in a sample of emerging adults (N = 511; 81.8% females; Rangeage = 18-25) who are currently in a premarital romantic relationship. To assess psychometric properties of the B-PBCS, we conducted a series of tests examining factor structure (exploratory and confirmatory factor analyses), measurement invariance (configural and metric invariance), reliability (internal consistency and test-retest reliability), and predictive validity. The results demonstrated that the B-PBCS has a two-factor solution (overt and covert partner behavioural control), acceptable measurement invariance, internal consistency, test-retest reliability, and predictive validity. The overt partner behavioural control at baseline assessment has been linked to romantic relationship conflict and psychological distress at 14-week follow-up assessment even after controlling for sex, age, and relationship duration. In conclusion, the B-PBCS offers a valid and brief measure for assessing partner behavioural control.

Satisfaction of a customer or client, whether that of a commercial organization or a public administration unit, is nowadays regarded to be a priority. Hence the need to measure customer satisfaction, and perform the measurement in a way which yields accurate result. This can be accomplished by using reliable and valid measurement instruments. In the article the authors presented the process of validation of the proposed scale for measuring the service satisfaction level of 'client' of the public administration unit. The empirical part of the article is preceded by an overview of the theory underlying the concepts of satisfaction and its measurement, customer service quality, as well as validity and reliability of a scale. As a result, the satisfaction measurement scale is presented which satisfies the requirements of validity and reliability.

Macrorestriction analysis of genomic DNA followed by pulsed-field gel electrophoresis (REA-PFGE) has become the 'gold standard' for molecular typing (10). In recent years, some alternative techniques have been successfully applied. However, there is still a need for a new method which may appear to be less complex, cheaper, and have a power of discrimination at least similar to that of REA-PFGE. Recently, we showed the performance and convenience of a novel assay, based on the fingerprinting of bacterial genomes by amplification of DNA fragments surrounding rare restriction sites (ADSRRS-fingerprinting), for its potential usefulness in epidemiological investigations. In this study, ADSRRS-fingerprinting method was optimized at each stage of the procedure. The modified method, named ADSRRS-fingerprinting plus, differs from the original technique in several points. The optimized method considerably shortens the time of experiment, offers good discriminatory power and also demonstrates excellent reproducibility. Next, ADSRRS-fingerprinting plus was validated. These experiments proved that the method is specific, selective and suitable for intended purpose and also confirmed its reliability, reproducibility and simplicity in the interpretation of the results. Optimized and validated procedure of ADSRRS-fingerprinting plus was used in the development of a diagnostic kit (ADSRRS-KIT) for strain differentiation of bacteria below the species level, using a simple set of ready-to-use reagents and standard equipment.

The paper shortly reviews statistical methods used in the area of DNA microarray studies. All stages of the experiment are taken into account: planning, data collection, data preprocessing, analysis and validation. Among the methods of data analysis, the algorithms for estimating differential expression, multivariate approaches, clustering methods, as well as classification and discrimination are reviewed. The need is stressed for routine statistical data processing protocols and for the search of links of microarray data analysis with quantitative genetic models

The goal of this study was to validate the Transgression-Related Interpersonal Motivation Inventory (TRIM- 18) on the Slovak population. One non-functional item had to be excluded from the Slovak version of the TRIM-18, so it is referred to as TRIM-17. The scale was verified on a representative group of adults in the productive age bracket of 18-65 years (n = 1209). The three-factor structure of the scale was corroborated. The interrelated factors of avoidance and revenge correlate negatively with the factor of benevolence. All three subscales show sufficient internal consistency (ω = .77 – .94 in different groups), and the total score has reliability of ω = .94 – .96. The validity of the questionnaire was corroborated by criterion validity (high correlations with other forgiveness scales) and construct validation (convergence with satisfaction with life and happiness, and divergence with anxiety, depression, and anger).
