Recently, a number of important changes have been made to the Accounting Act regarding new categories of business entities such as micro units and small units. Entrepreneurs managing these types of units generally deal with all areas involved in the management of the micro units. The changes and simplifications that have mostly occurred are related to accounting and financial reporting. In general, the managers of microenterprise benefit. However, if one looks at the image presented by the new simplified financial statements, the question is how these changes affect the economic security of micro units. The aim of the article was to assess changes in accounting and financial performance in micro units from the point of view of economic security of individuals. (original abstract)

On-demand economy, also called gig economy is a business model, a form of cooperation, a kind of interaction, a trend, an idea or a form of online activity, which nowadays can be perceived as one of the important components of the new economic reality and economic relations in the 21st century. On-demand economy concerns different areas of human activities and economy including the labour market, transport, family care, or services related to households. The aim of this work is to define the role and importance of the on-demand economy in the global economy of the 21st century and to identify opportunities and threats to the economic security which result from popularization of this trend. Celem artykułu jest ukazanie stanu bezpieczeństwa żywnościowego Polski oraz trzech krajów Europy Wschodniej sąsiadujących z naszym krajem: Białorusi, Rosji i Ukrainy. Analizowane kraje różnią się między sobą zarówno pod względem wielkości posiadanego potencjału gospodarczego, wielkości samych gospodarek, jak i poziomem ich rozwoju. Gospodarki poszczególnych krajów charakteryzuje też określona specyfika. W pierwszej części opracowania ukazano podstawy teoretyczne analizy bezpieczeństwa żywnościowego jako elementu bezpieczeństwa ekonomicznego. W następnej części dokonano charakterystyki analizowanych krajów, ukazując ich specyfikę oraz główne determinanty rozwoju. W części analitycznej przedstawiono stan bezpieczeństwa żywnościowego analizowanych krajów, wykorzystując Global Food Security Index, który został opracowany na zlecenie firmy DuPont przez Economist Intelligence Unit. Ukazano trzy składowe indeksu bezpieczeństwa żywnościowego, jakimi są: dostępność cenowa, dostęp do żywności oraz jakość i bezpieczeństwo żywności. Biorąc pod uwagę niektóre determinanty składowych bezpieczeństwa żywnościowego, podjęto próbę oceny wpływu rozwoju gospodarczego poszczególnych krajów na ich bezpieczeństwo żywnościowe. The aim of the article is to present the state of food security in Poland and the three neighbouring Eastern European countries: Russia, Belarus and Ukraine. The analysed countries differ in terms of the size of their economic potential, the size of the economies, and the level of their development. The economy of each country is also marked by specifi characteristics. In the fi rst part, the paper presents the theoretical basis of food security as an element of economic security. In the next part, the characteristics of the analysed countries are presented showing their specifi city and main determinants of development. The empirical part describes the state of food security in the examined countries using the Global Food Security Index, which was developed at the request of DuPont by the Economist Intelligence Unit. Three components of the food safety index are presented: price availability, access to food as well as food quality and safety. Considering some determinants of food safety components, an attempt was made to assess the impact of economic development of individual countries on their food security. (original abstract)

Ważną koncepcją, której twórcami są przedstawiciele szkoły kopenhaskiej, jest sekurytyzacja. Polega ona na przeniesieniu wyzwań bezpieczeństwa do kategorii zagrożeń. Klasyczne podejście realistyczne jest krytykowane za absolutyzację aspektów militarnych i założenie, że państwo jest jedynym przedmiotem referencyjnym bezpieczeństwa. Teoria klasyczna nie odpowiada na wyzwania XXI wieku. Współcześnie na znaczeniu przybierają czynnik ekonomiczny, kwestie związane z bezpieczeństwem sektora energii, współpracą handlową czy zaawansowaniem technologicznym. Tematem niniejszego artykułu jest zaprezentowanie celów, metod oraz środków prowadzących do zapewnienia bezpieczeństwa danej wspólnoty politycznej, w świetle krytycznych studiów nad bezpieczeństwem. Autorka wykazuje, że prowadzenie takich badań jest koniecznie. This article presents the theories of critical security studies of the Copenhagen, Welsh and Paris schools approach. An important concept presented by researchers form the Copenhagen School is securitisation. It involves the transfer of security challenges to the category of threats. Classical realism is criticised for privileging military aspects, and the assumption that the state is the only referent object of security. The author claims that classical theory does not respond to the challenges of the XXI century. Today, economic factors are gaining importance, and they consist of the issues related to security of the energy sector, trade cooperation and technological advancement. The subject of this article is describing the objectives, methods and measures to ensure security of the political community, in the light of critical security studies. The author shows that the conduct of such research is necessary. Critical studies complement traditional theories with important safety features that cannot be ignored in the era of a changing reality in the international arena.(original abstract)

This article explains the concept of realization in the practical activity of one of the stages of estimation of the economic security of enterprises. The modern need of Ukrainian business entities in establishing an effective system of economic security underscores the relevance of the problem. The development and implementation of the staged estimation mechanism of economic security into the enterprise management system is the purpose of the research The marked stage of estimation is suggested to realize in practical activity of a productive industrial enterprise that is selected research object. The investigated «Stage of results» is successive and interrelated with other offered stages of mechanism of estimation of the system of economic security of enterprises that is built on the basis of reasonable directions of this estimation. «Results phase» involves the estimation of the results and analysis of the factors that influenced the result of this evaluation. The priority direction of estimation is the research of factors that influenced the existent level of competitiveness of the investigated enterprise. Goal - The aims of the research are to identify the most significant internal and external factors affecting the economic security of China and assess the importance of the Belt and Road Initiative for China's future development. Research methodology - In order to organize internal and external determinants of economic security of China, SWOT (strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats) analysis was applied. Moreover, an important element of the research process was an attempt to verify hypothesis that the Belt and Road Initiative is a key instrument of China's economic security strategy. Score - China has transformed from a poor rural country into one of the main economic powers as a result of the economic reforms initiated in the late 1970s. However, we can observe that the economy of China is slowing down. In order to ensure economic security and maintain a stable economic growth as well as avoid the middle income trap China has introduced the Belt and Road Initiative. Since its announcement, the concept has been gradually gaining in importance and has finally become the key instrument of the Chinese foreign policy and a major element of economic development strategy. The main motive behind this project is to develop transport and energy infrastructure which will allow China to gain access to natural resources and new markets. An efficient transport network will facilitate trade, while energy infrastructure will prevent problems with energy and resource supply, which the Chinese economy needs. The Belt and Road Initiative is a way of boosting economic development of China through improving infrastructure from Asia to Africa and Europe and the establishment of trade links among all partner countries. The New Silk Road concept aims to use the advantages of the Chinese economy and the states participating in the initiative to stimulate its economic growth. Therefore, it is a strategy of providing long-term economic security. Originality/value - The paper raises the issue of the Chinese economic security understood as a long-term ability of the economy to achieve a relatively fast and sustainable economic growth. In this paper, the author defines the concept of economic security and with the help of SWOT analysis presents the strengths and weaknesses of China's economy as well as opportunities and possible threats to its stability. Moreover, the paper includes comprehensive analysis of China's motives behind the Belt and Road Initiative in the context of economic security of China. (original abstract)

The article consists of three integral parts which present the significance of cluster economic security, the importance of cluster governance in assuring this type of security, and basic standards of cluster management, which directly relate to cluster governance. The article emphasises that heterogeneous and complex nature of economic security and cluster governance as well as various definitions of these terms hinder their measurement and quantification. Cluster governance, stimulating transparent cluster management, contributes to the improvement of cluster economic activity and its positive image. As an instrument of internal and external control of cluster management efficiency it shapes cluster economic security. The paper embarks on the analysis of Polish-German trade in mid-tech and hightech goods between 2001-2013 with the main goal to identify potential structural challenges for Poland. For the purpose of the research the data at the 2-, 4- and 6-digit disaggregation level of the Harmonised System were used, which then enabled to diagnose the level of technological advancement of bilateral trade streams as well as the intensity of intra-industry trade. Obtained results justify the paradigm of middle income trap together with threats related. Taking into account characteristics of Polish-German trade, the role of Poland in the contemporary international division of labour was strongly determined by the nature of foreign direct investments sustaining cost and effeciency advantages and thus making Polish economic system too dependent on the inflow of foreign technologies(original abstract)

This aim of the article was to provide a multi-faceted presentation of the possibilities of aplication the concept of "safety net" in agriculture in the United States and Canada. Literature review, elements of heuristic methods, and the documentaty method- in comparative terms - were used. . The theoretical basis of the concept of safety nets in agriculture refer to the achievements earned by many schools and streams in economics and finance. An in-depth analysis is based on an "eclectic" and interdisciplinary approach. In practice, the "architecture" of safety nets in agriculture in the U.S. and Canada is quite complex and is based on relationships between the individual components. The role of risk management systems for agriculture will be strengthened. (original abstract)

Celem artykułu jest ocena bezpieczeństwa ekonomicznego państw Unii Europejskiej w odniesieniu do pandemii COVID-19 i przedstawienie dyrektywy Solvency II w roli narzędzia wspierającego władze państw Wspólnoty w dążeniu do zachowania bezpieczeństwa ekonomicznego. Hipoteza: złagodzenie reżimu regulacyjnego dyrektywy Solvency II sprzyja poprawie sytuacji ekonomicznej państw Unii Europejskiej. Metoda: badania przeprowadzono na podstawie przeglądu literatury przedmiotu, a także analizy danych pochodzących z raportów Insurance Europe, OECD oraz Komisji Europejskiej. Rezultaty: z przeprowadzonych badań wynika, że istnieją merytoryczne przesłanki uzasadniające konieczność wprowadzenia zmian w dyrektywie Solvency II na rzecz wspierania sytuacji ekonomicznej państw. Pandemia COVID-19 przyczyniła się do drastycznej zmiany warunków ekonomicznych, a złagodzenie zapisów dyrektywy może korzystnie wpłynąć na sytuację ekonomiczną państw Wspólnoty, jednak decyzja o zmianie dyrektywy należy do władz europejskich. The purpose of the article is an attempt to evaluate the economic security of European Union countries from the perspective of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and to present the Solvency II Directive as an instrument to support the authorities of the Community countries in their pursuit of preserving economic security. Hypothesis: alleviating the regulatory regime of the Solvency II Directive contributes to improving the economic situation of European Union countries. Method: for the purposes of the study, the literature on the subject was re-viewed, and data analysis was performed on the reports of Insurance Europe, OECD, and the European Commission. Conclusion: The research indicates that there are substantive premises that justify the necessity to amend the Solvency II Directive to support the economic situation of the countries. In the face of the shocking changes in economic conditions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, alleviating the Directive's provisions will ultimately have a positive effect on the economic situation of the Community countries. However, this decision remains in the sphere of possible choice of European authorities. (original abstract)

Kwestię wzajemnych relacji między systemem bezpieczeństwa a gospodarką narodową bada stosunkowo młoda subdyscyplina ekonomika bezpieczeństwa. Istotne pozostaje określenie współczesnych determinant bezpieczeństwa (w warunkach układu wielobiegunowego i szeregu zagrożeń o charakterze asymetrycznym). Celem artykułu jest osadzenie kwestii bezpieczeństwa na gruncie nauk ekonomicznych i podejmowanie prób analiz problemów we współczesnych warunkach gospodarowania przy uwzględnieniu ewolucji roli państwa narodowego. The issue of common relations between the security system and the national economy is examined by a relatively new subdiscipline - national security economics. It remains crucial to define the contemporary security determinants (in the conditions of a multipolar system and the array of threats with an asymmetric nature) as well as the role of economic science in making strategic decisions for national security. Artykuł prezentuje rozważania ukierunkowane na identyfikację i charakterystykę instrumentów oceny poziomu bezpieczeństwa ekonomicznego gospodarstw domowych. Kwestie te zależąc od wielu uwarunkowań ujawniają liczny zbiór dylematów, które trzeba rozwiązać. Wśród nich są dylematy metodologiczne dotyczące rozpoznania istoty pojęć gospodarstwo domowe i bezpieczeństwo ekonomiczne oraz wyznaczników, wskaźników i mierników ich opisu, identyfikacji i charakterystyki a także doboru w odniesieniu do gospodarstw domowych. Artykuł ma charakter studium metodologicznego w odniesieniu do podjętych kwestii. (abstrakt oryginalny)

The article presents considerations aimed at identifying and characterizing instruments for assessing the economic security of households. These issues, depending on many factors, reveal numerous set of dilemmas that need to be solved. Among them are methodological dilemmas concerning the recognition of the essence of household and economic security concepts as well as the determinants, indicators and measures of their description, identification and characterization, as well as the choice in relation to households. The article is a kind of methodological study of involved issues. (original abstract)

W artykule przedstawiono zagadnienia związane z zagrożeniami bezpieczeństwa państwa, które należą od dawna (istnienia plemion) do wartości najbardziej cenionych i chronionych przez wszystkie narody. Bezpieczeństwo obejmuje zagadnienia polityczne, militarne, czynniki ekonomiczne i technologiczne, ekologiczne i społeczne. Oprócz przedstawionych czynników od zarania dziejów świata odgrywają czynniki naturalne, które są niezależne ale należy się z nimi bardzo liczyć co pokazują ostatnie lata. Wraz z techniki weszliśmy w zagrożenia techniczne, które są z jednej strony w życiu człowieka, a z drugiej strony bardzo mu zagrażają. Przedstawione zagrożenia bezpieczeństwa państwa zostały w sposób syntetyczny scharakteryzowane i opisane. Należy podkreślić, że przedstawione zagrożenia nie wyczerpują wszystkich, ponieważ wraz z rozwojem nauki i techniki powstają coraz nowsze. (abstrakt oryginalny)

The article introduces the problems connected with the threats of national security that belong to the most priced and values ones for a long time. The security includes political and military issues, economic and technological factors, as well as ecological and social ones. Apart from those introduced elements, the natural factors which are irrespective are also very important. Together with a technology we faced the technical threats which exist in everyday life and at the same time impend it. The threats of national security were described and characterized in a synthetic way. It should be emphasized that introduced threats do not show all of them because of the fact that the development of science and technology brings increasingly new ones. (original abstract)
