The aim of the work was the selection of the most suitable method for fracture surface analysis using modern tools for mathematical verification of a dataset containing irregular data values and considerable variability of amplitude. The Hurst exponent was used for the verification of the analyzed dataset. The proposed procedure for the Hurst exponent calculations was verified for the profiles obtained from the fracture surface of 18G2A steel and pure iron in the rough state and after wavelet approximations.

Digitization of life leads to collecting vast amounts of data about consumers. These data allow to create profiles of consumers as a result of categorizing consumers according to specific criteria and/or deduction of unknown characteristics of consumers based on available data. Profiling enables the individualization of marketing activities. Profiling is currently the most used in marketing communications. It is questionable whether the profiling can be treated as a marketing innovation. Profiling seems to be the proof that in today's market these are the companies, and not the consumers, who dominate. Therefore, the profiling process is controversial and increasingly contested.

Purpose: To explore the differences between top and middle managers’ selection profiles. To that end, we assessed three important criteria: analytical intelligence, emotional intelligence, and personality. Methodology: The study compared two groups of managers (N=383): top managers (N=98) and middle managers (N=285). To measure the three factors, we used reliable, validated tools. Using discriminant analysis, we defined the strongest differentiating factors of the two groups. Results: Significant differences were obtained in the areas of the three factors, i.e. in general mental ability, some aspects of the personality dimension, and some facets of emotional intelligence. Discriminant analysis showed that facets of emotional intelligence most strongly differentiate the two groups. Implications: We describe and explain the typical profiles of top and middle managers with the three factors. Originality/value: These results are useful in the selection and development process of the organization.

Bubble loading is the mass of hydrophobic particles attached per unit surface area of air. This measure can be used in the design and analysis of flotation columns as a sign of true flotation. To date, however, this measurement has been limited to the pulp-froth interface, which only indicates the maximum bubble loading and does not reflect the progress of the loading process. This paper introduces the concept of bubble loading profile that summarizes measures of bubble loading at different heights of the collection zone in a flotation column. The effects of bubble size, particle size and collector dosage on the introduced profiles are also investigated. These operational variables changed the bubble loading profile from a linear to a curved trend. The curvatures in the profiles were near the place of the feeding port and therefore the collection zone was divided into two separate zones in terms of bubble loading characteristics. The zone below the feeding port often did not contribute much to the loading of particles on the bubbles and the loading phenomenon mostly took place above the feeding port. Behaviors of the profiles in these two zones were analyzed to reveal that a change in the feeding port placement or column height can, under some conditions, increase the overall bubble loading and thus, ultimately, the true flotation.

The school readiness issues have been being in the focus of interests of the educators for years. The number of approaches, tendencies and dimensions of the school readiness indicates how comprehensive and complex this topic is. The analysis of the contemporary research directions based on the papers available in academic databases let arrange them into a few categories. They are all presented in the article with the aim to get the current perspective of the problem, especially in the social and emotional context. Some authors try to determine the list of the detailed aspects of emotional and social skills important to begin school education. The other approach presents the new school readiness tools. There is also a line that evaluates the early emotional support effect on school readiness. The next trend is formed by statistical meta-analyses on the correlation between the age of the school start and pupils achievements. The two new directions are related to the school readiness profiles and the idea to include the executive functions into school readiness assessment as an important aspect of pupils' emotional and social achievements. The results coming from those six directions help the educators to increase the early education care.

The effects of FDI inflows to the region are the subject of many theoretical considerations, both quantitative and qualitative. In the context of shaping the competitiveness of the region receiving capital effects can be both positive and negative. Whether the positive effects predomi-nate in the region over the negative results depends on the possibilities inherent in the region. SubcarpathianVoivodship, despite the weak notes in the rankings of investment attractiveness has its economic profile. It is the aerospace industry, but also electrical engineering, biotechnology, IT and chemical industries. The region has a large concentration of companies especially the aviation industry, research centers and developed educational and training facilities

The actual contact area of cooperating surfaces is dependent on the geometric sketch of surface profile and the loud accrued on it. Cooperating surfaces have very small actual contact areas, producing an effect in that the friction and wear are determined by high tension in contact zone and extreme concentration friction energy. Many tribology phenomena can happen due to the reciprocal coerced effects of the unevenness of being in the contact surface, before surface wear. During the conducted experiments, surface profile measurements were taken using Talysurf 4 and Taylor-Hobson type profile meters. It was done to determine the characteristic value of the geometric structure surface of material and tool parts being in contact. The goal of the mentioned measurements is to gain information for the analysis of topology surface influence on the final co-operation effect.

The article discusses an application, within the sphere of foreign language pedagogy, of one of the psychological mechanisms omnipresent in language – construal (Langacker 2008: 4-5, Tomasello 2003: 13). In the first part, the article takes up two major issues: a more detailed characterization of the construal aspects in question: profile and base, as well as the problems often encountered in pedagogical grammar while referring to the uses of one of the English tenses – Present Perfect: the number of uses, the manner of defining them, and the level of schematicity at which the description should take place. The second part of the article is devoted to an analysis of the uses of Present Perfect by means of the presented Cognitive Grammar tools. In the conclusions this analysis is reviewed from the perspective of the above-mentioned problems and some pedagogical implications flowing from the model proposed by the author are discussed.

The purpose of this paper is to analyse the effects of Article 113 of the Albanian Criminal Code on women. This article appears to be gender neutral, but it’s enforcement affects women disproportionately and face them with forms of indirect gender discrimination. Through monitoring of Tirana Judicial District Court’s decisions, with object article 113 of the ACC, “Prostitution”, for a four year period from 2010 through 2013 and interviews with women who have exercised prostitution, there are brought in attention the profiles of the individuals who exercise prostitution and also social aspects of this phenomena. The hypothesis raised in this paper is that the profile of an individual who exercises prostitution is a vulnerable woman, with low education, unemployed, with low income, who is faced with family and social problems. This paper analyses the relation between the social aspects and legal dynamics of article 113 of ACC. The changes of 2012 introduced in the article 113 of the ACC brought sanctions for persons who buy the service of prostitution reflecting the process of social changes and understanding of gender equality. The issue of the next steps to address this phenomenon is analysed in this article too.

Worm gears are special gears consisting of a worm wheel and a worm. Worm gears can be produced in different ways, depending on the size of the transmission, the number of courses, the pitch angle of worm profile, the number of units produced, the purpose of application, etc. As cylindrical worm gears we consider the cylindrical worms with globoid gears, globoid worm with globoid worm gear and globoid worm with cylindrical worm gearing. This paper deals with the evolvent worm whose curve of the tooth side in the front plane is evolvent. The production of worm with an optimal profile for optimal meshing conditions is an increasingly frequent focus of worm gear manufacturers. The problem of designing the tool cutting edge can be divided into several steps. This article deals with the problems of optimum design of a tool shape for the production of worms; and the problems of calculating the coordinates of the transition cutting edge shape, and thus the path of grinding wheel for sharpening the tool cutting edge shape are solved. By grinding tool of grinding machine we can complete the worm shape and also sharpen the cutting edges of tools for production of worm surface. The problems of calculation of the coordinates are solved with regard to the functioning of the KON 250 CNC grinding machine logic.

Experimental verification of the theoretical methodology for describing a material's fracture morphology using multifractal analyis of a stereometrically examined surface ( full 3D analysis) is presented. A high effectiveness of a multifractal analysis has been shown for a diversified multifractal spectrum width and for a quantitative description of overlaps. The values obtained are very similar to those obtained by the quasi 3D method [ 6] as well as by conventional analysis, that is analysis of the profile images obtained from transverse microsections. The method presented, however, is the least time-consuming, the cheapest and seems to be the most objective for fracture morphology analyses.

The paper presents a verification of the multifractal analysis proposed in other papers. It has been found that the analysis of simulated profiles formed by removing overlaps and secondary cracks from a real profile ( which corresponds to a file obtained from a profilographometer) ensures proper diversity of fractal characterization, adequate for the degree of fracture surface development of the investigated grades of sintered carbide measured with a Taylor - Hobson's Talysurf 2 profilographometer.

While conducting research on the scene or during the entire phase of criminal prosecution, especially for the identification of the authors or settlement of the controversial circumstances, criminal profiling by a forensic psychologist will reduce the circle of suspects, as well as provide assistance in determining possible connections with other crimes and offer to judicial organs sustainable strategies for the solution of the case. In addition to identifying and processing the material traces found on the scene, concern falling strictly within forensics, in the future, efforts against criminality of the third millennium will be oriented towards the interpretation of human behaviour with criminogenic finality.

Studies of developing neural cells are widely used in fundamental research into the mechanisms of nervous diseases, such as multiple sclerosis. These studies nirmally require researchers to estimate the populations of different classes of cells in microscope images of either tissue or cultures. The estimation process is carried out by human visual inspection, and is time comsuming and subjective in nature. As an attack on this problem, we have been investigating the use of computer vision to classify and count the neural cells automatically. We apply various image processing techniques to reduce the neural cells in an image to a skeleton form. Then various measures such as the fractal dimension and 2nd moment are applied to classifi cells according to thier spatial growth characteristics seen during thier development. The measures are then combined using a bayesian classifier, and a decision is taken as to which class a cell belongs. Out initial studies were aimed at classifying the different development stages of the cells knowns as oligodendrocytes. The results were encouraging with better then 80% agreement between the computer analysis and human judgement.

Jerzy Bartmiński and Stanisława Niebrzegowska-Bartmińska’s conception of profiling is tested for its usefuleness in describing the profiling of the base image of a mental object. This specific case study concerns the Polish names for snow. The data come from dictionaries of standard Polish, from contemporary specialist publications in meteorology, climate engineering, crystalography, communication, winter sports, as well as from folk dialects. The base image of snow consists of its physical features. The basic term (śnieg) reflects the similarity of snow and rain (deszcz). The precise and systemic scientific terms refer to objective features of snow; specialist practitioners (road menders, skiers, hunters) perceive and name it both in objective and functional terms. Colloquial names are objectively and subjectively motivated: through analogy they relate to known objects (puch ‘down, fluff’, krupy ‘groats’, kasza ‘groats, grits, cereals’). Folk names are subjective and reflect the system of beliefs within a specific mythological worldview. For a name to be considered a profiling tool, it must be based on a subjective understanding of the object on the part of the subject, which is especially conspicuous in the case of synonyms.
