Content available remote The Redistributive Effect of Health Services
100%
EN
The article examines the influence of health services on the household current income distribution. Household Budget Survey in 1995 and The Use of Medical Services in 1995/1996 conducted by Central Statistical Office are the main source of data. In the research sample consisting of 27,836 units health services lead to lower income inequality. Nevertheless their redistributive effect is very weak. It is mainly a consequence of their low average rate with respect to original income and low regressivity as well. What is more, the effect is reduced by the reranking effect. Additionally, calculation of Relative Benefit Share Progressivity and Relative Income Share Progressivity confirms directly that health services are de facto regressive with respect to original income, i.e. they decrease income inequality.

The main thesis states that the appearance of some new institutions as well as legislative regulations are the subject of a significant ideological dispute concerning political-system solutions. On one hand, there is a tendency to regard social economy institutions as one of the instruments to develop enterpreneuership among people threatened with social exclusion. On the other hand, institutions of social economy play significant role in building civic society based on economic relations, as well as in the provision of social services. The article presents the major state's policy, legislative and financial directions from 2001 to 2005 in the field of social economy. It points out the possible and eligible directions of public authorities' further actions leading to social economy development.

Social economy and the Church's social teaching are joined not only by a similar object of interest, i. e. a common axiological foundation in the form of certain values and principles. It seems that the existence of such connections on the axiological level is not very well known, which can be proven, among others, by the fact that it is hard to find any studies or even mentions connected with it in the literature on the subject. Hence an attempt seems justified to look closely and to analyze this connection in order to indicate the details of mutual implications, and so to show the possibilities of mutual enriching these two domains of human reflection on social life. The article analyzes particular principles of social life that are preached by the Church as part of its social teaching, with respect to their presence or the necessity of considering them in social economy. First it points to (1) the source and foundation of all the social principles, which is the human person, and then it shows (2) the dignity of work and the call to be enter¬prising. Next, the following principles are analyzed: (3) the common good, the general allot¬ment of goods and preferential option for the poor, and finally (4) solidarity, subsidiariness and participation.

EN
This paper deals with the subject of social innovations and their application in social practice. It attempts to conceptualize social innovations within theories on the modernization of the society. It is based on a sociological understanding of social innovation as a source of social change and modernization as an example of social change. The importance of social innovations rises with the high dynamism of changes in late modern society, and with the growth of its structural and cultural differentiation, which diversifies, differentiates, individualizes man's social world. Social context has influenced a modified understanding of innovation not only as a tool and source of economic productivity and competitiveness, but also as a potential tool for achieving social goals and social cohesion in society. The social dimension puts more significance on the positions and roles of social actors as vehicles of innovation. The solution to social problems and increasing the ability of social actors to participate in the solution process has become an important condition for sustainable economic growth. The author defines criteria of social innovation and conditions for their practical application.
