The paper aims to describe the meanings of the prefix pro- found in Czech verbal neologisms. The first section characterizes verbal prefixation and describes two principal functions of prefixes — the lexical and the aspectual. The subsequent section deals with the Neomat electronic neologism database, which is the primary source of material for the paper and the basis for a discussion of its methodology. Subsequently, the difference between polysemy, cosemy and homonymy is explained and cosemy is shown on the example of the verb probruslit. Next, classifications of the prefix propresented in Czech linguistic sources (especially in grammars) are compared, the principal problems of classification are addressed, and meanings mentioned in all the sources are identified. The final section analyses meanings of the prefix pro- in verbal neologisms (prototypical, spatial meaning ‘through’ being described first). The most frequent meanings of the prefix pro- in verbal neologisms are ‘to get somewhere/to accomplish something‘, ‘to pass time’, ‘to lose something’ or ‘to do intensively’.

The article describes and analyses the changes in Tunisian French vocabulary that were brought about by the Coronavirus pandemic. The common language borrows lexical units from academic language and foreign languages, particularly from English language. It can be observed that the usage frequency of commonly seldom used expressions is growing as well as the number of occasionalisms. However, there are far fewer units borrowed from academic and from English language in Tunisian French than in French used in France. The number of occasionalisms is also significantly smaller.

The paper deals with the meanings of the compounds with the component -braní. This component has not been lexicographically treated yet despite its productivity in contemporary Czech. We describe the word-formation bases which are combined with the component -braní and define the prototypical meaning of these compounds – ‚a public (gastronomic, cultural, etc.) event‘.

The article presents the dictionary entry booster, which was additionally incorporated into the Academic Dictionary of Contemporary Czech. One of its meanings, ‘a dose of a vaccine that increases or renews the effect of an earlier one,’ has expanded in Czech rather widely in connection with the covid pandemic; however, four other meanings of this lexeme were identified on the basis of data from the Czech National Corpus. First the semantic structure of the entry is introduced, then I focus on how users of Czech orient themselves to the fact that the lexeme is a neologism.

The article discusses the problems of equivalence in the transfer of Russian phraseological neologisms into Czech. Such an analysis is based on the material of the Russian-Czech dictionary of neologisms compiled by L. Stepanova and M. Dobrova and published at the Olomouc University. A typology of phraseological equivalents, used by the authors of the dictionary, is proposed, the effectiveness of the transfer of phraseological units into the Czech language is demonstrated. A feature of phraseological neologisms of the source language is its original imagery and expressiveness, which makes the task of selecting equivalents especially difficult.

Článek pojednává o problémech ekvivalence při přenosu ruských frazeologických neologismů do češtiny. Taková analýza je založena na materiálu rusko-českého slovníku neologismů sestaveného L. Stěpanovou a M. Dobrovou a publikovaným Olomouckou univerzitou. Zde je navržena typologie frazeologických ekvivalentů, kterou používají autoři slovníku, je popsána účinnost přenosu frazeologických jednotek do českého jazyka. Charakteristickým rysem frazeologických neologismů zdrojového jazyka je jeho původní zobrazení a expresivita, což znesnadňuje zejména výběr ekvivalentů.
