Systemy wartości osób z niepełnosprawnością odwzorowują ich funkcjonowanie, uwzględniające nie tylko uwarunkowania psychofizyczne, ale również determinanty społeczno-kulturowe. Badania struktury tych systemów mogą być prowadzone pod względem rodzaju, miejsca, treści poszczególnych wartości, a także ich funkcji. Najbardziej adekwatną metodą w tego typu badaniach jest metoda biograficzna, która pozwala uchwycić znaczną ilość różnorodnych doświadczeń osobistych, wchodzących w sieć relacji, zależności oraz oddziaływań wzajemnych między składnikami systemu, jak i systemem jako całością. Badania systemów wartości osób z niepełnosprawnością mogą poprawić funkcjonowanie samych niepełnosprawnych, jak i ich relacje z innymi jednostkami oraz instytucjami społecznymi.

The systems of values of people with disability reflect their entire functioning which takes into account not only psychophysical conditions but also socio-cultural determinants. Research into the structure of those systems can be carried out with regard to the kind, place and content of the values in question as well as their function. The most adequate method in this kind of research is biographical method, which allows one to capture a significant number of various personal experiences inscribed into a net of relationships, dependencies and mutual influences among the parts of the system as well as between the parts and the system as the whole. Reserarch into the systems of values of the people with disability could improve the functioning of the disabled themselves and their relations with other individuals and social institutions.
