The paper outlines the tasks of the Territorial Defence Force as well as presenting the schedule of forming Territorial Defence Force brigades. The further part of the paper explains the concepts of motivating, motivation, and motive, showing fundamental differences between them. Next, the author discusses theories of motivation, selected from the literature, i.e. the Theory of Needs by Abraham Maslow and the Theory of Reinforcement by B. F. Skinner. In the last part of the paper, referring to the literature, tangible and intangible factors used by Territorial Defence Force commanders have been discussed.
