Cotton fabrics were dyed with natural coloring matter extracted from curcuma longa (turmeric) using traditional heating method and power ultrasonic method. Factors affecting dyeing properties such as pH values, salt conc., temperature, time of dyeing bath and ultrasonic power were studied. Environmentally friendly mordants were used through pre-mordanting, post mordanting, simultaneous mordanting methods. The fastness properties including light, washing, and perspiration for dyed and mordanted fabrics were assessed. Color strength (K/S)& color data CIE lab (L*, a*, b*) were measured for dyed cotton fabrics before and after dyeing and mordanted cotton fabric.

Introduction: Blood brain barrier and multidrug resistance phenomenon are subjects of many investigations. Mainly, because of their functions in protecting the central nervous system (CNS) by blocking the delivery of toxic substances to the brain. This special function has some disadvantages, like drug delivery to the brain in neurodegenerative diseases. Objective: The aim of this study was to examine how natural and synthetic substances affect the expression levels of genes (Mdr1a, Mdr1b, Mrp1, Mrp2, Oatp1a4, Oatp1a5 and Oatp1c1) that encode transporters in the blood-brain barrier. Methods: cDNA was synthesized from total RNA isolated from rat hippocampus. The expression level of genes was determined using real-time PCR (RT-PCR) method. Results: Our findings showed that verapamil, as a synthetic substance, caused the greatest reduction of mRNA level of genes studied. The standardized extract of Curcuma longa reduced the expression level for Mrp1 and Mrp2, whereas the increase of mRNA level was observed for Mdr1b, Oatp1a5 and Oatp1c1. Conclusions: These results suggests that herbal extracts may play an important role in overcoming the blood brain barrier during pharmacotherapy

In this communication, selected physicomechanical characteristics of ground turmeric (cv. Prabha) were investigated for cryogenic and ambient grinding conditions of turmeric at different moisture contents (4, 6, 8 and 10% w.b.). A cryogenic grinder (Model: 100 UPZ, Hosokawa Alpine, Germany) and a micro pulverizer (hammer mill) were used for cryogenic and ambient grinding, respectively. The ground turmeric was graded in three grades viz. Gr-I, Gr-II and Gr-III with a sieve shaker using BSS Nos. 40, 85 and pan, respectively. Tap densities for cryogenic and ambient ground turmeric decreased from 678.7 (Gr-I) to 546.7 kgm-3 (Gr-III) and from 642.3 (Gr-I) to 468.6 kgm-3 (Gr-III), respectively, with the moisture increase. The angle of repose for cryogenic and ambient ground turmeric increased linearly from 26.85 (Gr-I) to 34.0° (Gr-III) and from 23.10 (Gr-I) to 28.06° (Gr-III), respectively with the increase in moisture content. The static coefficient of friction was the highest on plywood surface followed by mild steel sheet and galvanized iron sheet. The cryoground samples were found better in colour. Thermal conductivity of cryo-ground samples was higher than that of ambient ground samples. These physico-mechanical characteristics of cryogenic and ambient ground turmeric will be helpful for packaging, handling, and storage.

Hemorrhoids is the determination of physiological structures located in the distal part of the rectum and the anal canal. In certain situations (e.g. during pregnancy), there is an increase in and possible loss of the hemorrhoids from the rectum, which may manifest as bleeding, sweeling, itching and discomfort. Pregnancy is the most important risk factor for problems with hemorrhoids in women of childbearing age. The treatment process mainly involves conservative techniques, including topical preparations.

Hemoroidy to określenie fizjologicznych struktur, usytuowanych w dystalnej części odbytnicy i kanału odbytu. Ciąża to najważniejszy czynnik ryzyka wystąpienia problemów z hemoroidami u kobiet w wieku rozrodczym.

Skin diseases present a major health concern worldwide. In recent years, herbal plants have been proved a good source of highly effective conventional agents for the treatment of several skin diseases. In this research study, the popular ED-XRF Technique was used for estimation of 13 trace elemental concentrations in 10 various Anti-skin diseases herbal plants, due to its multi-elemental, high sensitivity and low detection limits. Thirteen major and minor or trace elements namely P, K, Cl, Mn, Ca, Cu, Fe, Zn, Rb, Sr, Br and Se were identified and concentrations measured in ppm levels and further we have discussed a possible link between the curative properties of herbal plants and their elemental concentrations. In the present work, the concentration of S, Ca, Mn, Fe, and Zn was found at an enormous excess amount while Cu and Se found at low concentrations in selected medicinal plants when compared with the control sample (NIST Apple leaf). Notably, the present findings exhibited that, the curative potentials of these herbal plants used for curing various kinds of skin ailments since they are found to containing a rich amount of Mn, Ca, Zn, Se, Cu and Fe.
