Knowing the career plans of students is important information showing the potential and direction of development of the labor market. Aim The aim of the study was to gather information on career plans and further development of graduates of the Division of Dentistry, Medical University of Lublin in the years 2004-2012. Material and methods The survey covered a group of 743 graduates of medical-dental faculty. Students filled in an anonymous questionnaire after passing the exam in conservative dentistry with endodontics. The questions concerned the location and nature of future work, as well as the desire to specialize and determining the area in which the graduate is planning to specialize. Results The question: “Where are you planning to start work after graduation?” – was answered by more than 35% of the students: “In a big city outside of Lublin.” Over 24% of respondents expressed a desire to return to their hometown, and 21% declared remaining in Lublin. Approximately 13.6% of respondents were considering going abroad, and about 5.65% of the students declared choosing village or a small town, as a place for future work. Among all graduated students, 45.5% would like to work in a medical joint venture, 38.5% wishing to undertake business activity in their own dental office. Only 7.4% of students declared their desire to remain at the university and carry out scientific work. The vast majority of graduates (87.35%) expressed the desire for specialization. The most frequently indicated specialization was conservative dentistry with endo-dontics – the choice was indicated by 22.62% of the respondents. Students expressed similar interest in further development in the field of oral surgery (20.33%), prosthodontics (20.33%) and orthodontics (18.58%). Conclusions Most of the students of dental-medical major of Medical University of Lublin after graduation planned to work in Poland. This text contributes to the debate on the change in the way of teaching mathematics as it responds to the shifts caused by the transition to distance learning during the pandemic. The author analyses the conclusions of contemporary publications and international research alongside teaching experiences related to various aspects of the functioning of mathematics teachers, the efficacy and quality of their work as well as the issue of their education and improvement. In the course of literature research, probing questions on the pandemic-era school failures occurring in mathematics have clearly highlighted inequalities in the education system. The author analyses the application of ICT in distance learning, which has significantly stimulated processes and phenomena linked to the functioning of an individual in schooling. The time of the pandemic has exposed the shortcomings of the Polish education system and necessitated reflection on the future of Polish schooling. When the magnitude of failures in mathematics does not decrease but remains constant, it is imperative that the reason why it is the leading subject of school failures is determined. Therefore, it is important to establish the new role of the mathematics teacher in the process of changes prompted by distance learning.

After the alarming findings of NIK’s audit at ten schools in the Lubuskie Region (none of the audited schools organised classes in compliance with the principles of mental work hygiene, nor provided full safety to students), NIK decided to conduct a wider audit that covered the whole country. It comprised 7,000 out of 19,000 state schools at the primary and middle level. Such a broad scope makes it one of biggest audits in the history of NIK. Unfortunately, the audit confirmed the results of the audit conducted in the Lubuskie Region. The negligence, whose effects frequently posed a threat to the health or even to the life of students, most often were due to basic errors in the management of state schools.

The main purpose of the article is to establish the level of knowledge about fertility among female students of the University of Zielona Góra. The presented analyses used part of the empirical material from the project “The role of fertility assumptions in the formation of procreative intentions” carried out on a representative sample of full-time female students of the University of Zielona Góra. The respondents have the highest level of fertility knowledge related to changes in women’s reproductive abilities with age. However, it should be noted that their awareness in this aspect is rather medium. For the most part, they correctly identify the age at which the woman is most fertile and the age at which her ability to conceive is significantly reduced. However, the vast majority of respondents are convinced that the process of reducing the ability of women to become pregnant begins later than in reality. As for the other two dimensions of fertility knowledge – the dimension related to estimating the chances of getting pregnant and the dimension related to infertility – the women are characterised by their low or average level. Most of the respondents overestimate the chances of pregnancy of a young woman (up to 25 years old), who had unprotected intercourse at the time of ovulation and a woman who, aged 25–30, had unprotected intercourse regularly during a period of one year. More than half of female students are aware of the scale of infertility in Poland, but at the same time most of them overestimate the effectiveness of in vitro fertilisation. The results obtained are similar to those obtained by researchers from other countries. Therefore, it is necessary to postulate including to the educational program the knowledge about the specificity of the human body, which is characterised by limited ability to conceive a child and changes in the fertility level of women appearing with age.

Undertaking the matter of entrepreneurship and education towards entrepreneurship comes across as essential due to contemporary objectives of education, namely, to equip with this crucial competence. Empirical activities in this regard should fill in the existing deficit, helping in clarification of these notions. It is significant particularly with reference to the preschool education as a stage when children deal with the set of crucial competences and, in consequence, with reference to current and future teachers of nursery schools. The aim of the research was to explore the ways of understanding the notions of „entrepreneurship”, „enterprising person”, and „education of entrepreneurship” and assessment of the experiences of the researched in this regard. The research embraced Internet questionnaire. The examined persons most often understand the entrepreneurship in a wider context, as the set of life-long competences, not only in a narrow, economic meaning. Moreover, majority of respondents consider themselves as enterprising persons, despite the fact that in their reception they were not given enough opportunities to do so during their formal education, particularly at the stage of their studies. The researched rather explicitly stress the need to educate future teachers of preschools and children within entrepreneurship, a competence useful in life, regardless of profession etc. Empirical analyses of this area has cognitive and utilitarian significance, as it predominantly exposes the issue of entrepreneurships from a rarely expressed perspective. In the future it can equally contribute to the improvement of the quality of educating future teachers of nursery schools and the level of educating pre-school children towards entrepreneurship.

The purpose of this article is to highlight the essence and content of teaching this subject, which was introduced in Polish schools on 1 September 2009. To achieve this goal, the importance of education and, specifically, security education is discussed. The essence of security education is then presented, and it replacing the currently implemented defense adaptation is explained. Subsequently, the educational content of security education was discussed. The aim of the study was based on theoretical research methods such as analysis, synthesis, comparison, and inference. The conclusion encourages further reflection on this subject because education is an important area for ensuring security; hence, education in security from pre-school education to adult education can be found in Polish education. The tendency toward change testifies to broader cognitive perspectives, especially in the area of personnel and structural security of individuals and social groups. It also testifies to the understanding of the essence and importance of education itself.

The subject-matter of the article is Antoni Popławski’s competition work, an answer to the question posed in 1770 by Bishop Massalski, concerning the teaching that should be offered to “peasants”, and in particular to children in village elementary schools. Both Massalski and Popławski were under the ideological influence of the French philosophers and economists (physiocrats) from Dr Quesnay’s physiocratic school. According to them, one of the conditions for the development of agriculture bringing ‘pure profit’, was a liberal, free market economy and the appropriate level of farmers’ education. It concerned not only land owners but also common ploughmen, including hired workmen. Popławski put forward the idea of creating parish schools headed by the parish priest, a vicar or a hired teacher. The curriculum was to include such skills as reading, writing, arithmetic, Christian education, agriculture and medical self-aid. In his work, the author advocates slackening the ties of serfdom of Polish peasants, at the same time persuading the noblemen that reforms of this kind and educating the lower classes of people were their economic interest. In his treaty Popławski turned out to be known as a future talented writer and pedagogue of the Commission of National Education.

Due to the changes taking place in the socio-economic sphere, including the expectations of members of the society, the idea of social responsibility is increasingly implemented at universities, including public ones. Therefore, the article is the result of the analysis to answer three questions: why can we talk about the social responsibility of the university, what this responsibility is and what types of activities are undertaken by selected public universities in Poland in accordance with conditions previously defined social responsibility. To achieve this goal, in-depth literature studies, analysis of the content of websites of universities, semi-structured and in-depth interviews with employees of selected public universities were conducted.

The ensuing article tackles the problems of closing small schools. It constitutes an attempt to reflect upon a new phenomenon, which is becoming more and more common, and it is caused by the introduction of austerity in the budgets of self-government entities liable for running educational institutions. This difficult and complicated situation means that local communities are forced to undertake essential solutions towards this new reality, which concerns mainly children and their parents. Discussion over these solutions will aim at searching for effective and economic ways of the running and functioning of small schools appropriated for liquidation. The undertaken problems seem to be justified because of approaching political and economic changes occurring at both national and local scale.

This article examines the history of Kurdish language repression in Turkey and argues that bilingual education for Kurdish children will ultimately benefit both Turks and Kurds. Research shows that bilingual education tends to create empathy between the children of conflicting groups. This is particularly intriguing in the situation of Hebrew-Arabic bilingual schools in Israel, since the situation of Arab Israelis is in many ways comparable to that of Turkish Kurds.Full text: http://bazhum.muzhp.pl/czasopismo/589/?idno=14760

Technology has made its presence felt in various sectors of India’s development in the last twenty years. Communication and information technology, manufacturing industry, transportation, defence and space technologies are some of the important sectors which have incorporated modern technology in various aspects of their development and functioning. Also significant and visible changes have taken place in the consumer products available in the Indian market, most of them imported or locally manufactured by multinational corporations based in India. Do these changes qualify India to be considered as a technologically advanced country, and thereby making technological changes an integral part of the social change process of our society? Or are these developments restricted to certain elitist sections of society with little or negligible trickle-down effect of the knowledge bases of the technology developments? In this study a deconstructivist approach is adopted to analyse some of the processes involved in development and diffusion of technology in a society. With the exception of mobile phone technology it is argued that even though India has strong scientific and technological capabilities, it is emerging as a bigger consumer of technology products than as a producer and innovator of modern technology.

The article presents the results of an Internet questionnaire examining high school graduates’ (general education high schools and technical high schools) perceptions on aesthetical and cultural education in the institutional context. The study was based on students’ narratives gathered by means of a purpose- designed interview questionnaire using the methodology of interpretive anthropology in relation to the perspective of an ‘insider’ or a ‘local’. The results were further organised accordingly with the strategy of horizonalisation, which made it possible to construct a model encompassing all the participants’ contributions.
