Those interested in natural farming or commenting on it can be divided into dedicated adversaries and enthusiasts. There are various arguments for and against this kind of agricultural production, and their weight depends on the functioning of the agriculture as a whole, on the level of the economy and the wealth of society. In Poland, natural farming is reasonably practicable, although the chance of its development in the near future is limited. In its favour are a surplus of manpower in agricultural sector, the difficulty in selling food products to EC countries, the ease of shifting land uses to this type of production because of their agrarian structure, and the existence of relatively unpolluted regions.

Interesujących się rolnictwem ekologicznym i wypowiadających się na jego temat można podzielić na jego zdecydowanych przeciwników i zwolenników. Za lub przeciw tej formie rolnictwa przemawiają różne argumenty, a ich znaczenie zależy od funkcjonowania całego rolnictwa oraz poziomu gospodarki i zamożności społeczeństwa. W Polsce rolnictwo ekologiczne ma uzasadnienie, chociaż szanse jego rozwoju w najbliższej przyszłości są ograniczone. Przemawia za nim m.in. nadwyżka siły roboczej w rolnictwie, trudności ze zbytem żywności do państw EWG, łatwość przestawienia gospodarstw na ten rodzaj produkcji z uwagi na ich strukturę agrarną, istnienie regionów o stosunkowo małym zanieczyszczeniu.

It does not put strain on the environment and is the most advanced and biologically the best form of agriculture. It relies on the knowledge of the laws of nature. It ensures the best co-existence of humans, animals and plants.

Rolnictwo ekologiczne to system gospodarowania, który przez stosowanie środków naturalnych, nie przetworzonych technologicznie, zapewnia trwałą żyzność gleby i zdrowotność zwierząt oraz wysoką jakość biologiczną produktów. Jest systemem zrównoważonym ekologicznie i ekonomicznie, w dużym stopniu niezależnym od nakładów zewnętrznych, nie obciążającym środowiska. Stanowi najnowocześniejszą i najlepszą pod względem biologicznym formę rolnictwa, bazującą na znajomości praw przyrody. Zapewnia właściwą egzystencję ludzi, zwierząt i roślin.

The fashion existing in the West concerning all forms of ecological agriculture has recently reached Poland and has resulted in the founding of several institutions connected with such agriculture. Similarly, a few hundred ecological farms have been founded, scientific circles have shown interest in it and there have appeared many publications on the subject. However, the very basics of this farming system and its effects, especially those conceming production should be reflected upon, not to mention that they show some lack of scientific basis. Analyses of more important problems connected with ecological agriculture show the necessity to conduct thorough, complex interdisciplinary research on the influence of this farming system upon our natural environment, on the efficiency of production and on the quality of products in all kinds of climatic and soil conditions. Only such results will enable us to objectively evaluate the pros and cons of ecological agriculture and to establish its place and extent in agriculture as such. Our knowledge so far, fragmentary as it is, seems to suggest that ecological agriculture may be a part of agriculture, while it is just good agriculture that will dominate.
