The development of gastronomy enterprises is important because in today's world food and beverage companies play an important role in satisfying the changing nutritional needs of consumers. The development of the food service market undoubtedly is related to the social and economic changes taking place in recent years in our country. Once the industrial economy has turned into knowledge-based economy there are not only material assets but also intellectual resources that decide whether a company is able to earn and maintain competitive advantages or not.
Celem artykułu jest charakterystyka rozwoju handlu elektronicznego w branży gastronomicznej w postaci zamówień posiłków przez Internet. Dokonano identyfikacji czynników wpływających na to zjawisko oraz zidentyfikowano ważne przesłanki technologiczne, społeczno-kulturowe i ekonomiczne. Przedstawiono także modele biznesowe charakterystyczne dla zamówień posiłków online oraz ich funkcjonowanie ze szczególnym uwzględnieniem e-pośredników. Zaprezentowano w artykule działanie jednego z nich – Uber Eats.

The purpose of the article was to characterize the development of electronic commerce in the catering industry in the form of online meal orders.The article identifies factors influencing the development of online meal orders by consumers. Important technological, socio-cultural and economic factors have been identified. Business models specific to online meal orders and their functioning are also presented, with particular emphasis on e-intermediaries. The example of the Uber Eats e-intermediary is presented in the article.
