The article presents results of an analysis of factors determining financial liquidity of economic entities operating in the food sector. For the purposes of the analysis financial statements of food sector's economic entities listed on the Warsaw Stock Exchange in the period 2002-2005 have been used. The study uses the stepwise regression method. The research has shown that financial liquidity measured by means of the basic three static indicators was mostly determined by receivables and liabilities management policy and marginally by profitability.
The aim of this article is to assess the nutrition level in Poland in the light of the current dietary recommendations. The focus is on the diversification of consumption of the basic food products in households by socio-economic groups and with particular account of food products of vital importance for the health of the Polish society, that is milk, fish, fruit, vegetables and their products. Also the level of consumption of these products in households maintained by the poorest and the wealthiest people has been described. The present model of food consumption in Poland strongly deviates from the rules of balanced nutrition. The Poles eat too much animal fat, fatty meat, confectionary products and sugar and too little milk, fish, vegetables, fruit and their products. The improper diet increases the risk of many chronic non-infectious illnesses, colloquially known as diseases of modern civilization. With a view to improving the health condition of the Polish society numerous advertising campaigns are organized in Poland. They encourage people to eat more milk, fish, vegetables and fruit.
The last decade has been characterised by progressing integration of the Polish economy with the European Union and the entire global economy. The process of approximation of Poland's level of development and economic structure to those of other European countries takes place also in the food sector. Foreign trade in agri-food products is developing dynamically, the dietary patterns are becoming similar to those in Western Europe and the convergence of agri-food products' prices is progressing. Integration is the fastest in the food sector, where a reduction of differences in the sector's level of development and a significant approximation of sectoral structure and business breakdown structure are observed.
