The article emphasises eco-philosophical elements in the prose of the contemporary Russian writer Viktor Astafev. Special attention is paid to the manifold interrelations between nature and people in the selected fragments concerning human life and its eternal relationship with nature. Furthermore, the article determines the role, significance and place of education, ethics, consciousness and ecological attitude in mankind's contemporary contacts with the world of nature.
