The problem for knowledge transfer across national boundaries in very much the problem of transfer across cultural boundaries. Several transfer models exist, viewing the process as one of simple transfer, translation or diffusion. The difficulties which arise stem from the extent to witch different, cultures, as encoded by thier languages, do not map in an isomorphic way onto one another. Different phenomena are noticed, and accorded the status of named events, in different cultures. (fragment of text)
