How are we to understand the effect of the "new economy" on economic growth in Emerging Markets? How can we take concepts central to our understanding of the "new economy" in the advanced economies and apply them to the developing economies? In this paper we discuss how we may need to adjust our conceptions of economic sustainability and productivity to understand how the "new economy" will reshape the terms of economic transactions and competition in emerging markets. First we will review briefly what these conceptions mean in the advanced economies. Then we will discuss how these concepts may need to be adjusted for developing economies. Lastly, we will analyse how these new conceptions may shape the terms of production in the "new economy" in developing economies. (fragment of text)
