Celem niniejszego artykułu była identyfikacja podstawowych barier innowacyjności MSP w oparciu o badania literaturowe, co pozwala na zrozumienie, dlaczego jedne organizacje są bardziej innowacyjne w porównaniu z konkurentami, mimo działania w tych samych warunkach rynkowych. Wobec konieczności bycia innowacyjnym, identyfikacja kluczowych barier innowacyjności MSP może być przydatna w formułowaniu efektywnej strategii innowacyjnej, prowadzącej do osiągnięcia sukcesu na coraz bardziej konkurencyjnym rynku. The purpose of this paper was to identify the basic barriers of innovativeness of SME, based on the literature review. It explains why one organization is more innovative than the other, despite they exist in the same market conditions. The identification of the key barriers can be useful in formulating the effective innovative strategy, leading to the success on the more and more competitive market. However, the analysis of the barriers of innovativeness of the organization couldn't be equated with the identification of the factors of failure of innovative projects. Sometimes, despite the existence of certain barriers, innovative ideas are successful and lead to the commercialization. Conducted literature investigations lead to the conclusion, that beyond, stressed in the literature, resource barriers (lack of qualified workers, lack of financial resources), extremely important (and unseen by owners/managers) are barriers connected with the individual characteristics of innovators.
