Abstrakty
Since Poland’s accession to the EU in 2004 the country has experienced many changes, i.a. concerning its demography. One of the most noticeable aspects of this, is the emigration of Poles to other countries, however the issues of immigration and remigration have also become an increasingly significant element in many fields. This phenomenon has thus become a challenge also for the educational system, which should provide non-Polish speaking children with the possibilities of intellectual and language development. This article discusses the state of educational support which schools in Wroclaw offer to foreign children. The study of the situation is based on analysis of the legal system in confrontation with quantitative data, that presents how many foreign children attend schools in Wroclaw as well as how many of them have additional Polish classes. The authors also give a brief outline on the preparation of teachers to work with foreign children.
