Directions of U.S. Energy and Climate Policy in the First Six Months of Donald Trump’s Presidency
Języki publikacji
Abstrakty
The first six months of Donald Trump’s presidency revealed his determination to fulfil his campaign promises on energy and climate. His actions have been focused on two major objectives: to reap benefits from a production of domestic energy resources, expanding on coal and shale while disregarding the environmental costs, and to withdraw from the climate legacy of Barack Obama, including the Paris agreement. The long-term geopolitical and economic implications of Trump’s energy and climate policy are yet to be observed, but given the actions undertaken by the president so far the following can be expected: reindustrialisation, U.S. supremacy on the global energy market and potential American isolation on a global climate scene.
