In the age of global information economy, with the development of market economy in Hungary and in the context of the EU membership, the training in business information has become a necessary and essential part of the graduate LIS training programme. The study focuses on the curricula of schools of library and information studies, both in Hungary and in the international practice. The author presents his own teaching experiences at the Faculty of Library and Information Science of the Eötvös Loránd University. The study provides a short historical overview, describes the current situation and presents a few practical initiatives. However, one question still remains open: how the current training curriculum will change as a result of the reforms in compliance with the Bologna process and with joining the European Higher Education Area.
