As a result of dramatic events in history, God's promises made to Israel, time and history seem to lose their redemptive dimension. Therefore Ecclesiastes' hopes are pinned upon 'today' and an individual's history in his experiencing life. Time and history understood as cyclic processes are also characterized by determinism. Everything has been precisely destined since the very moment of creation. Everything, including time and history is governed by God, although individual can enjoy freedom to make choices 'in his time', however, he is also responsible for that. The problem of defining time in Ecclesiastes, its role in his book and the relationship between God and time and time and human existence are the questions asked and, to some extent, answered by the author of the article.
