According to the author of the review, Barbara Skarga's book 'Czas i trwanie. Studia o Bergsonie' (Time and Duration. Bergson Studies, 1982) is primarily a philosophical work. It remains true even if some parts of the book focus on historical matters. In his opinion, the authoress of the book stresses only those elements of the doctrine of the French philosophers which according to her are still valuable, such as Bergson's concept of philosophy, his epistemology, and partly theory of morality and religion. She does not present the vitalist metaphysics of the author of 'Creative Evolution', as the reviewer remarks. Such construction seems accurate to the reviewer who tries to make the main components of it explicit. He stresses especially Bergson's concept of intuition. Instead of trying to interpret this concept, he supports some of the author's claims in this regard but raises question regarding the others. He notes that Skarga didn't explicate all her claims. All in all, he indirectly recommends Skarga's book, and directly - Bergson's works. The latter, with some interpretation, can remain a source of inspiration for original philosophical research.
