'The Master and Margarita' by Mikhail Bulgakov in the Polish Press between 1969-1989
This essay is intended to signal the main tendencies connected with the appearance of translation of the novel in Polish, not only literary but also of cultural ones. It comprises exclusively the materials collected in magazines, primarily of the official circulation. The articles have been divided into groups depending on the issue they deal with, on the type or the means of expression or on the audience they are addressed to. The main focus is on the articles, in which the biographical thread was highlighted, the articles which interpret and analyse, scholarly articles related to the academic circles and school education, and also the publications issued in 'unofficial circulation', as well as the ones being a reflection of phenomena and events occurring in Polish cultural life. The reflections, although they have a systematizing aim, point out to the intensity of interest in the most prominent novel of Mikhail Bulgakov, and also in the biography of its author among various readers' groups in Poland.
