Bottom-up technique has been used to synthesize Ag-chalcogenide nanoparticles. This work reports on the synthesis of Ag2Se by varying the molar ratio of capping agent and pH of the solution. The synthesized nanoparticles have been characterized in terms of structural parameters using X-ray diffraction. By this technique, various parameters such as crystallite size, dislocation density and strain of the nanoparticles were calculated. The crystallite size decreased with the increase in pH of the solution. The optical characterization was carried out by UV-Vis-NIR spectrophotometer. With the decrease in the crystallite size, a blue shift in the absorption peak of the nanoparticles was observed. These properties are suitable for energy harvesting with the help of photovoltaics.

A conducting nanocomposite film of 60 nm nano-SnO2-polyaniline (PANI) and polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) has been synthesized and analyzed in terms of AC conductivity and dielectric behavior. The conducting polymer nanocomposite of PANI/60 nm (SnO2) and polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) has been prepared via in situ polymerization technique. The morphology of the nanocomposite film has been studied by SEM. The film has been characterized in terms of DC conductivity. The dielectric behavior and AC conductivity of the nanocomposite film have been investigated in the frequency range of 2 Hz to 90 KHz. The film has high dielectric constant which may be correlated with polarization. It has been observed that both dielectric loss and dielectric constant decrease with an increase in frequency.

This paper presents the harmonic and vibration analysis of functionally graded plates using the finite element method. Initially, the plates are assumed isotropic and the material properties of it are assumed to vary continuously through their thickness direction according to a power-law distribution of the volume fractions of the plate constituents. The four noded shell element is used to analyse the functionally graded plates. Four functionally graded plates-Al/Al2O3, Al/ZrO2, Ti–6Al–4V/Aluminium oxide, and SUS304/Si3N4 are considered in the study, and their results are obtained so that the right choice can be made in applications in high temperature environment and in reducing the vibration amplitudes in applications such as aircrafts, rockets, missiles, etc. Numerical results for the natural frequency and harmonic response amplitude are presented. Results are compared and validated with available results in the literature. Effects of boundary conditions, material and damping on natural frequency and harmonic response of the functionally graded plates are also investigated.

The paper reviews the performance measurement in the domain of interest. Important data in asset management are further, discussed. The importance and the characteristics of today’s ICTs capabilities are also mentioned in the paper. The role of new concepts such as big data and data mining analytical technologies in managing the performance measurements in asset management are discussed in detail. The authors consequently suggest the use of the modified Balanced Scorecard methodology highlighting both quantitative and qualitative aspects, which is crucial for optimal use of the big data approach and technologies.

W artykule przedstawiono pomiar wydajności w dziedzinie zainteresowań. Następnie omawiane są ważne dane dotyczące zarządzania aktywami. W artykule wymieniono również znaczenie i cechy charakterystyczne dla dzisiejszych technologii informacyjno-komunikacyjnych. Szczegółowo omówiono rolę nowych koncepcji, takich jak big data i technologie analityczne dotyczące wyszukiwania danych w zarządzaniu pomiarami wydajności w zarządzaniu aktywami. Autorzy sugerują zastosowanie metodologii zmodyfikowanej Strategicznej Karty Wyników, która podkreśla zarówno aspekty ilościowe, jak i jakościowe, co jest kluczowe dla optymalnego wykorzystania podejścia i technologii big data.

In this paper, the design and analysis of a compact size coplanar waveguide (CPW)-fed antenna for ultrawideband (UWB) applications is presented. The antenna has a compact size of 20×20×1.1 .5 .mm and provides a good impedance matching over the entire bandwidth of 3.2–14.3 GHz. The characteristics parameters, i.e. return loss, VSWR and radiation pattern, are analyzed using HFSS 11.0 software.

The paper aims at localization of the anchor node (fixed node) by pursuit nodes (movable node) in outdoor location. Two methods are studied for node localization. The first method is based on LNSM (Log Normal Shadowing Model) technique to localize the anchor node and the second method is based on Hybrid TLBO (Teacher Learning Based Optimization Algorithm) - Unilateral technique. In the first approach the ZigBee protocol has been used to localize the node, which uses RSSI (Received Signal Strength Indicator) values in dBm. LNSM technique is implemented in the self-designed hardware node and localization is studied for Outdoor location. The statistical analysis using RMSE (root mean square error) for outdoor location is done and distance error found to be 35 mtrs. The same outdoor location has been used and statistical analysis is done for localization of nodes using Hybrid TLBO-Unilateral technique. The Hybrid-TLBO Unilateral technique significantly localizes anchor node with distance error of 0.7 mtrs. The RSSI values obtained are normally distributed and standard deviation in RSSI value is observed as 1.01 for outdoor location. The node becomes 100% discoverable after using hybrid TLBO- Unilateral technique.

Content available remote TiO2/PANI nanocomposite loaded in PVA for anticorrosive applications

We report the morphological and electrical study of a composite of polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) and nanotitanium dioxide (TiO2-50 nm) in conducting polymer polyaniline (PANI). The composite was synthesized using in-situ polymerization technique. The composite was characterized in terms of morphology and electrical properties using scanning electron microscopy and DC electrical conductivity (σdc). We observed that the DC electrical conductivity of the composite film increased with increasing the loading of nanocomposite material from 20 % to 40 % into PVA stabilizer. The DC conductivity results showed that the molecular chain contribution of the nanocomposite material (nano-TiO2-+ PANI) was the prominent carrier in the composite film made of the nanocomposite and PVA stabilizer.

Content available remote Reducing Call Blocks in Cellular Network with Non-Uniform Traffic Conditions

In cellular networks, while the motivation behind all basic channel assignment strategies is the better utilization of the available frequency spectrum with the consequent reduction of the call blocking probability in each cell, very few of them deal with the problem of non-uniform traffic demand in different cells which may lead to a gross imbalance in the system performance. Mobile users in hot cells (the cells with heavy traffic loads) may suffer from low throughput due to the load imbalance problem. In this paper, we propose a cost effective and simple load balancing scheme that can effectively reduce the overall call blocking. A common set of channels are determined dynamically which can be used simultaneously in all the cells. Cell tiers with different radii are used to cope with the interference introduced by using same set of channels simultaneously in all cells. The performance of the proposed scheme is presented in terms of call blocking probability and channel utilization. Simulation results show that the proposed scheme can reduce the call blocking significantly in highly congested cell.

This paper focuses on a generalized linear operator Im which is a combination of both differential and integral operators. Involving this operator, a class Tsk(...) with respect to k-symmetric points is defined. Results based on coefficient inequalities and bounds for this class are obtained. Various integral representations and some consequent results for TS(...) class are also determined. Further, results on partial sums are discussed.

In this paper we describe a sensitive and reproducible reversed-phase high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) method with photodiode-array detection for isolation and quantification of the bioactive hydrophilic constituent 7-(1- O -β-D -galacturonide-4′-(1- O -β-D -glucopyranosyl)-3′,4′,5,7-tetrahydroxyflavone, 1 , from the seeds of Cuminum cyminum . Compound 1 was separated isocratically on a C 18 preparative column, in high purity, after removal of solvents. The purity and identity of the compound were established by use of LC-mass spectrometry and by spectroscopic techniques ( 1 H and 13 C NMR). The purity of 1 was also confirmed by HPTLC.

The Rayleigh-Taylor instability of a Newtonian viscous fluid overlying a couple-stress viscoelastic fluid through a porous medium is considered in the presence of a variable horizontal magnetic field. The stability analysis is carried out, for mathematical simplicity, for two highly viscous fluids of equal kinematic viscosities. For the stable configuration, the system is found to be stable or unstable under certain conditions. However, for the unstable configuration, the magnetic field has got stabilizing effects.

The paper projects the potential of agricultural waste Saraca indica leaf powder (SILP) in biosorbing chromium from aqueous system. The influence of pH, contact time, metal concentration, biomass dosage and particle size on the selectivity of the removal process was investigated. The maximum sorption efficiency of SILP for Cr(III): 85.23% and Cr(VI): 89.67% was found to be pH dependent giving optimum sorption at pH 6.5 and 2.5 respectively. The adsorption process fitted well to both Freundlich and Langmuir isotherms. Morphological changes observed in Scanning Electron Micrographs of metal treated biomass confirm the existence of biosorption phenomenon. Fourier Transform Infra-red Spectrometry confirms that amino acid-Cr interactions contribute a significant role in the biosorption of chromium using target leaf powder. The successful applications of easily abundant agricultural waste SILP, as a biosorbent have potential for a low technological pretreatment step, prior to economically not viable high-tech chemical treatments for the removal of Cr from water bodies.

The instability of streaming Walters B' elastico-viscous fluids in hydromagnetics through porous medium is considered. The case of two uniform streaming fluids separated by a common horizontal interface is considered. It is found that for the special case when perturbations in the direction of streaming are ignored, the system can be stable or unstable, depending upon kinematic viscoelasticity, medium porosity and medium permeability, for both potentially unstable and stable configurations. In all other directions, a minimum value of wave-number has been found and the system is unstable for all wave-numbers greater than this minimum wave number and the instability of the system is found to be postponed due to the presence of the magnetic field.

The development of economic and efficient processes for the removal of toxic metals from water bodies has become a priority task for environmentalists. Biosorption processes arc tangible alternatives to traditional methodologies, particularly if low metal concentration, large volume and cost arc considered. The present communication reports the unexploited sorption properties of the Saraca indica leaf powder (S1LP) for the removal of Cd(ll) and Ni(II) from aqueous media. Sorption studies using standard practices were carried out in batch experiments as a function of biomass dosage, metal concentration, contact time, particle size and pH. Sorption studies result into the standardization of optimum conditions for the removal of Cd(II) - 92.60% and Ni(II) - 46.20% as follows: biomass dosage (4.0 g), metal concentration (Cd(II) 10 ug/cm3, Ni(II) 10 ug/cm3) and volume of the test solution (200 cm3) at pH 6.5 for Cd(II) and Ni(II). The present study explores for the first time, the efficacy of Saraca indica leaf powder as a novel and environment friendly possibility to remediate heavy metal contaminated water in a cost efficient manner.
