Single-image generation models generate high-quality and diverse images by learning the internal distribution of patches within a single image, addressing the issue of data scarcity and attracting increasing attention. However, existing methods are unsatisfactory when dealing with images with global structures, such as animal images. To address this issue, we propose Semantic fusion and Structure-guided global generation from a Single image with Diffusion models (S3Diff). Specifically, during training, we employ a semantic extractor to extract high-level semantic features from training images and use the proposed semantic fusion block to fuse semantic features with image features, enhancing the model’s understanding of image semantics and improving the quality of the generated images. During sampling, we apply manifold constrained gradient based on image structure to enforce the generation path to regress to the manifold of the original image, preserving reasonable global structures. Extensive experiments on public datasets demonstrate the thorough exploration of hyperparameters and the rationality of key designs, with quantitative and qualitative comparisons against baseline methods and validating that our proposed method preserves reasonable semantic and structural relationships, can generate high-quality and diverse images, significantly improving the model’s global generation capabilities.

This study investigates the development, adoption, and implications of artificial intelligence (AI) models by analysing a comprehensive dataset of over 316,000 models hosted on the Hugging Face platform. Focusing on two dominant model architectures - transformers and diffusion models - it examines their distribution across tasks, user engagement patterns, and practical applications in domains such as natural language processing, computer vision, audio processing, and generative media. The research highlights the growing prominence of generative AI, the role of open-source platforms in shaping model accessibility, and the divergence in use trends between foundational and emerging AI tools. Drawing on correlations between downloads, likes, citations, and model size, the paper discusses how each library’s community-driven dynamics shape their respective strengths. Finally, the paper discusses implications for business strategy and adoption, encompassing practical considerations like infrastructure requirements and ethical challenges, and underscores the potential for these evolving model ecosystems to drive innovative, human-centric AI solutions across diverse sectors.

This article presents a study of the application of generative artificial intelligence (AI) in the early architectural design phase. Its purpose is to verify whether these tools speed up the development of a concept and how to increase control through simple parametric models and a clearly defined decision loop including a human. The study was based on a course taught at the Faculty of Architecture of the Warsaw University of Technology by a team of teachers from the Chair of Architectural Design and the Department of Pro-Environmental Design. The course was attended by 62 students in 25 teams. The course was divided into four blocks (type exploration and visualisation, automation of functional layout generation, insolation analysis and life cycle assessment) - the first of these is described in detail in this article. The course combined parametric modelling with a text- and image-driven image generator. The results of student surveys conducted at the end of the course indicate that AI was useful at the concept stage for 88% of them; the main barriers were limited predictability, repeatability and hardware requirements. The best results were produced by a combination of a clearly defined designer’s intention with a simple 3D model and a critical selection of results. The course authors recommend integrating AI into the curriculum as a way to learn to work with the process (formulating criteria, controlling the course, evaluating the results), rather than only operating result-focused tools.

This work concentrates on problems of modeling at diverse resolutions. We investigate limit procedures which lead a model of one category to a model of another category, and analyze objective measures of models being close. While the methodology developed here can be applied to any stochastic modeling problem, it is investigated in neural modeling context, which is of renewed interest in control and information sciences. We consider the jump-diffusion models, based on a cause-and-effect neurobiological description, the diffusion models obtained through a space and time averaging, and the deterministic models, resulting from averaging out the random effects. The three forms of neuron models live independently in the literature, and the results obtained for one model are not moved to another form. To overcome this problem, we investigate the relations between various forms of the models. We formulate a general model driven by both marked Poisson processes and Wiener process, and identify its functions with neurobiological postulates. We then analyze the conditions under which it weakly converges to diffusion processes. We show that the convergence is influenced by algebraic properties of the inputs. In particular, we prove that if the weights span the entire real space they belong to, and the jumps have deterministic amplitudes, then the model may converge only to a deterministic limit. Consequently, contrary to a common belief, the basic model cannot converge to a diffusion if its weights are modified in a learning process. We also introduce a scaling which leads the jump-diffusion models to diffusion models and show that the asymptotic models are either the zero-drift diffusions or are deterministic. If separate scaling is applied to each class of inputs then the inputs can be divided into the stochastic and the deterministic classes. The latter influence only the drift of the diffusion model, and the former influence only the diffusion function. These novel hypotheses call for experimental verification in real biological systems. The diffusion models of neuron usually lead to a first passage problem for diffusion process. We provide a uniform treatment of both analytical and numerical methods for the first passage time distribution of the diffusion processes through a general barrier, and apply the results the diffusion neuron. The results enable to further simplify the diffusion neurons, to be able to apply the simplified models in neural networks. To determine usefulness of approximations to diffusion models, we investigate a general problem of model simplification and introduced a novel notion of model simplification validity. We show that a simplified relation between the mean output spiking frequency and the input intensity has a structure of the sigmoidal network neuron. This result closes the link between the network neurons, the diffusion neurons, the jump diffusion neurons, and the neurophysiological postulates.

Rozważano modele skokowo-dyfuzyjne neuronu, oparte na opisie przyczynowo-skutkowym, modele dyfuzyjne otrzymane poprzez uśrednienie w czasie i przestrzeni elementów modeli skokowo-dyfuzyjnych i modele deterministyczne otrzymane poprzez uśrednianie elementu losowego modeli dyfuzyjnych. Ta nowa hipoteza wymaga eksperymentalnej weryfikacji w rzeczywistym systemie nerwowym. Przedstawiono jednolite podejście do metod analitycznych i numerycznych dla problemów pierwszego przejścia procesów dyfuzyjnych przez ogólne bariery. Wyniki zastosowano do badania neuronu dyfuzyjnego. Wynik ten zamyka ciąg związków pomiędzy modelem sieciowym neuronu, modelem dyfuzyjnym, modelem skokowo-dyfuzyjnym, i postulatami neurobiologicznymi. Pozwala to na przenoszenie cech i własności modeli jednej klasy do modeli innej klasy. Dla rozwiązania problemu określania jakości modeli aproksymowanych wprowadzono obiektywną miarę jakości uproszczenia opartą na własnościach probabilistycznych modeli.

Calculation method and coefficient values of the GeO₂ dopant diffusion from the core to the cladding of spliced fibres in splicing temperature have been presented. Accepting different diffusion models, the intermediate area dimensions for various splicing parameters were calculated. A correlation between intermediate area parameters and splice loss of single mode fibres of different types including those designed for WDM has been discovered. The analysis and usage of one-way OTDR measurement of splice losses of fibres with essential differences in cores diameters and numerical aperture has been presented. There also has been presented the influence of these parameters on one-way OTDR measurement of loss of splices of joined fibres.
