The article addresses the issue of applying Bloom’s taxonomy as a tool for analysing competences in rescue dog training systems in water rescue in Poland. The main objective of the study is to determine the extent to which the training and certification system for canine teams resulting from the Regulation of the Minister of Internal Affairs and Administration Polish Journal of Laws/Dz.U. of 2012, item 747) and the WOPR ILS K9 system (WOPR, 2024) meet the requirements of water rescue, considered in three areas of learning: cognitive, affective and psychomotor. Bloom’s taxonomy was used as an analytical framework to enable a structured assessment of training programme structures, competence progression, and methods of verification. The analysis was based on a review of normative acts, programme documents and examination rules, with reference to the guidelines of the International Life Saving Federation. The analysis revealed clear differences in the structure of training and in the methods of developing and verifying competences. The MSWiA system focuses on meeting the requirements of the final examination, while the WOPR ILS K9 system is based on a model of gradual development of the canine team, implemented in conditions similar to rescue operations. The conclusions indicate that Bloom’s taxonomy is a useful tool for analysing competences in rescue dog training, enabling the identification of systemic gaps and the formulation of recommendations to improve national training solutions in water rescue.

Artykuł przedstawia model kształcenia architektów łączący teorię i praktykę w procesie dydaktycznym, oparty na współpracy Uczelni z jednostkami samorządu terytorialnego. Studium przypadku dotyczy zajęć projektowych prowadzonych na Wydziale Architektury Politechniki Śląskiej we współpracy z Wydziałem Planowania Przestrzennego Urzędu Miejskiego w Gliwicach. Celem pracy jest ocena skuteczności takiego modelu dydaktycznego w kształtowaniu kompetencji zawodowych studentów architektury. Metodyka obejmowała analizę i modyfikację realnych założeń projektowych, konsultacje grupowe oraz indywidualne, wielozakresowe studia terenowe i planistyczne oraz ewaluację projektów w formie przeglądów i konkursów. Rezultaty wskazują na wzrost zaangażowania studentów, poprawę umiejętności planowania złożonych zadań projektowych, rozwój warsztatu zawodowego i umiejętności pracy zespołowej oraz lepsze zrozumienie realnych uwarunkowań pracy architekta. Wnioski potwierdzają, że model dydaktyczny oparty na realnych kontekstach oraz współpracy z partnerami zewnętrznymi sprzyja integracji wiedzy teoretycznej i praktycznej, podnosząc jednocześnie kompetencje kadry dydaktycznej i stanowiąc odpowiedź na aktualną dyskusję o kryzysie kształcenia oraz przygotowania absolwentów do zawodu.

The paper presents a model of architectural education integrating theory and practice through collaboration between the university and local government institutions. The case study focuses on architectural design courses at the Silesian University of Technology conducted in cooperation with the Department of Spatial Planning of the City of Gliwice. The aim is to evaluate the effectiveness of this didactic model in shaping students’ professional competencies. The methodology included the analysis and modification of real project assumptions, group and individual consultations, multiscope field and planning studies, and project evaluation through reviews and competitions. Results show increased student engagement, improved skills in planning complex design tasks, enhanced professional tools and teamwork abilities, and a better understanding of real-life conditions of the architectural profession. Findings confirm that a teaching model based on real contexts and external partnerships promotes the integration of theoretical and practical knowledge, enhances teaching staff competencies, and responds to the current debate on the crisis of education and graduates’ preparation for professional practice.

The article addresses the issue of canine support in water rescue in Poland, focusing on the analysis of the training and certification system for rescue dogs and their handlers, implemented by entities authorised to perform water rescue. This study omits issues related to the use of dogs to detect the scent of human corpses under water. The research problem boils down to the question of what model of canine support should be applied in the national water rescue system in order to effectively utilise the potential of dogs and increase the effectiveness of rescue operations. hypothesis has been put forward that the most effective solution would be model based on consistent legal framework, multi–level training and certification system, and the integration of the activities of state structures and non-governmental organisations. It was assumed that the current legal and organisational situation does not fully correspond to rescue practice, while the experience of non-governmental organisations and international standards can provide valuable reference for the development of national model. The legal status and organisational and social challenges that hinder the effective functioning of dog–handler teams in water rescue operations were discussed. The prospects for the development of canine support were also presented, pointing to the need to adapt training and certification requirements to the real working conditions of teams at bathing sites. The need to distinguish between water work, canine sports and professional water rescue was emphasised, which will allow harmonious development of each of these areas. The article draws attention to the importance of public education and promoting responsible approach to working with rescue dogs. In addition, attention is paid to identifying systemic barriers and potential directions for the development of this form of rescue support in the context of national institutional conditions and rescue practice.

Purpose: The main purpose of the article was to indicate the possibilities of using artificial intelligence as a tool in project management processes in the studied medium-sized Polish companies. Design/methodology/approach: This pilot study utilized an online survey questionnaire, which was developed following a thorough review of existing literature. The research focused on two key questions: Q1: What impact does AI have on Project Management? Q2: How are AI tools evaluated by its users in Project Management? Findings: The implications arising from this research extend both theoretically and practically. Theoretically, it enriches the existing literature on AI in project management, underscoring the potential of AI to enhance project performance and decision-making. Practically, the findings offer valuable insights for project managers and organizations striving to integrate AI tools effectively, thereby improving efficiency, minimizing risks, and optimizing resource allocation. The research reveals that the integration of AI in project management significantly improves efficiency, decision-making, and risk management throughout the project lifecycle. Research limitations/implications: This study examining the application of AI in project management encounters limitations like: the fast-paced development of AI technologies poses a significant challenge in maintaining the relevance of research findings, AI research may lean heavily on case studies, surveys, or secondary data, which might not adequately reflect broader industry trends, and the effective implementation of AI in project management relies significantly on the skills, attitudes, and acceptance of project teams and managers. Practical implications: The application of AI-driven solutions enhances the execution of project management activities, leading to improved work efficiency and quicker results. It is anticipated that modern technology will be embraced with increasing boldness and innovation. Social implications: The growing use of AI in project management has significant social implications, particularly concerning the future of work, human-AI collaboration, and the ethical use of technology in organizational settings. Originality/value: This article explores the growing integration of AI-based solutions in project management. As businesses increasingly adopt AI, it is transforming operations by automating processes. This shift not only enhances efficiency but also improves the effectiveness of task execution, particularly for repetitive activities.

Purpose: The main purpose of the article is to identify and evaluate the impact of selected infrastructure elements on the development of the Middle Pomeranian region. Efforts were made to prove that infrastructure of appropriate quality is the basic condition for the development of the region. Design/methodology/approach: In the study, quantitative and comparative methods were used in the data analysis. The article uses a comparative analysis of the road infrastructure of two counties: Koszalin and Slupsk. The analysis was supplemented by a diagnostic survey using a questionnaire survey technique among the inhabitants of both counties. Findings: In Koszalin, significant changes included: installation of ticket machines and e-tickets (94%), increased availability of city bikes (72%) and scooters (26%), and connection to Mielno by rail bus (56%). In Slupsk, on the other hand: extension of bicycle paths (38%), modifications of some routes for city buses (24%) and improvement of connections with suburban towns (16%). Research limitations/implications: After the completion of the S6 and S11 developments, a repeat survey should be carried out. According to the authors, these investments affect the quality of life of the residents in the areas studied. Surveys should be carried out on a larger group of respondents, particularly taking into account rural areas. Practical implications: Investments in the modernisation and development of infrastructure, including road infrastructure, were central to strategic regional development activities. They attracted investors for the development of business and were also a factor in the construction of the logistics center in Koszalin. Social implications: The development and increase in transport options for residents has directly improved the quality of life for residents. The completed road investments also contribute to improving living conditions and increasing the attractiveness of the region by making it more accessible. The well-developed transport infrastructure of the Middle Pomeranian Region gives specific benefits by increasing the number of tourists. Originality/value: The analysis of the interaction between transport infrastructure and the economy, as well as the measurement of the satisfaction effect of this interaction, is an important issue in the context of the implementation of the strategic development plan adopted by local governments and the government.

Purpose: The main aim of this paper is to present the importance of human capital and the areas of investment that determine its development. This is followed by the presentation of empirical research results that attempt to answer the following questions: Do the surveyed companies engage in human capital development? Are internal employee development programs adapted to employees' expectations, interests and needs? What areas are companies investing in to increase the value of human capital? Design/methodology/approach: Analysis of literature and website reports related to the topic under study, Conducted empirical research targeting managers of large and medium-sized enterprises in Lubusz Voivodeship. The survey was conducted in 2024 during the months of August-September. The research method was a diagnostic survey, the tool was an electronic survey questionnaire. Findings: Human capital in the era of changing economy is a key element that affects the competitiveness of modern companies, and therefore there should be continuous investment in the areas which determine its development in order to achieve market success. Most of the companies surveyed are involved in human capital development, but not all internal programs are adapted to employees' expectations, interests or needs. The most important areas affecting human capital development in the surveyed companies are: education and training, talent-based management and modern technology. Research limitations/implications: Research will be conducted to verify the rate of change in the area of future competencies in modern companies. Practical implications: The presented results constitute a valuable source that shows whether the surveyed companies are following the right direction in human capital investment. Originality/value: The paper can contribute to increasing managers' awareness of how to effectively develop and use of employees' potential.

Artykuł podejmuje problem skuteczności wdrażania innowacji technologicznych w sektorze obronnym. Celem badania było określenie, jakie czynniki decydują o powodzeniu wdrożeń na etapie oceny projektów B+R, realizacji oraz instytucyjnego zakorzenienia. W badaniu wykorzystano metodę wywiadu nieskategoryzowanego z dziesięcioma ekspertami posiadającymi doświadczenie w ocenie projektów B+R w obszarze bezpieczeństwa i obronności. Analiza treści wypowiedzi pozwoliła zidentyfikować powtarzające się bariery utrudniające wdrożenie innowacji w sektorze obronnym. Dotyczyły one tworzenia samego wniosku konkursowego oraz uwarunkowań instytucjonalnych realizacji i kontynuacji prac B+R. Na etapie tworzenia wniosku, najczęściej wskazywano na ogólnikowość opisu i brak parametrów technicznych, brak kompetencji zespołu badawczego, brak zdolności do prowadzenia projektów wynikający z ograniczonego doświadczenia. Natomiast w zakresie uwarunkowań instytucjonalnych wskazywano na bariery proceduralne i strukturalne w uczelni oraz nieciągłość wsparcia instytucjonalnego. Wyniki badania mogą stanowić podstawę do doskonalenia mechanizmów wspierania projektów naukowo-technologicznych realizowanych na potrzeby obronności.

The article addresses the issue of effectiveness in implementing technological innovations within the defence sector. The aim of the study was to identify the key factors that determine the success of implementation during the stages of R&D project evaluation, execution, and institutional embedding. The research employed unstructured interviews with ten experts experienced in the evaluation of R&D projects in the field of security and defence. Content analysis of the expert responses enabled the identification of recurring barriers that hinder innovation implementation in the defence sector. These barriers related both to the preparation of the project proposal itself and to institutional conditions for conducting and continuing R&D efforts. At the proposal stage, the most frequently cited issues included vague project descriptions lacking technical parameters, insufficient competencies of the research team, and limited project management capacity due to lack of experience. In terms of institutional conditions, procedural and structural barriers within academic institutions as well as discontinuity of institutional support were highlighted. The findings may serve as a basis for improving mechanisms that support science and technology projects developed for defence applications.

Building Information Modeling (BIM) has been the hottest topic in the construction sector over the last decade. The evolution from CAD to BIM systems has been going on for over 40 years. The current periodization indicates that we are now in the third era of BIM development, the era of open standards, which was initiated by the idea of openBIM in 2012. Earlier evolutionary periods included the model federation (second era) and CAD3D (first era). Since 2022, there has been extremely dynamic development of artificial intelligence (AI), especially generative AI. AI tools automate some of the tasks that were previously performed by humans. Thus, the research question is: are we entering the next, fourth era of BIM development? The era of artificial intelligence? This chapter attempts to answer this reflective question. During an in-depth literature review, the directions of current and future research on BIM development are discussed.

Modelowanie informacji o budynku (BIM) było najgorętszym tematem w branży budowlanej w ciągu ostatniej dekady. Ewolucja od systemów CAD do systemów BIM trwa już ponad 40 lat. Obecna periodizacja wskazuje, że znajdujemy się w trzeciej erze rozwoju BIM, erze otwartych standardów, zapoczątkowanej ideą openBIM w 2012 roku. Wcześniejsze okresy ewolucji obejmowały federację modeli (druga era) oraz CAD3D (pierwsza era). Od 2022 roku obserwuje się niezwykle dynamiczny rozwój sztucznej inteligencji (AI), zwłaszcza generatywnej. Narzędzia AI automatyzują niektóre zadania, które wcześniej były wykonywane przez ludzi. W związku z tym pojawia się pytanie badawcze: czy wkraczamy w kolejną, czwartą erę rozwoju BIM? Erę sztucznej inteligencji? W niniejszym artykule podjęto próbę odpowiedzi na to refleksyjne pytanie. W trakcie dogłębnego przeglądu literatury omówiono kierunki obecnych i przyszłych badań nad rozwojem BIM.

W artykule przedstawiono przegląd i analizę ryzyka inwestycji sieciowych w kontekście planowania rozwoju infrastruktury sieciowej. Przedstawiono problematykę planowania rozwoju infrastruktury sieciowej. Omówiono podstawowe rodzaje ryzyk związanych z inwestycjami w obszarze infrastruktury sieciowej. Obejmują one ryzyka: techniczne (budowa infrastruktury technicznej, eksploatacja); ekonomiczne (zarządzania i działalności operacyjnej, rynkowe, finansowe) oraz pozostałe związane z otoczeniem przedsięwzięcia. Określono miary bezpośredniego lub pośredniego sposobu uwzględniania ryzyka, które mogą być zastosowane w procesie planowania rozwoju infrastruktury sieciowej do oceny ryzyka inwestycji sieciowej.

he article presents a risk review and analysis of network investments in terms of network infrastructure development planning. The issue of network infrastructure development planning is presented. The basic types of risks associated with network infrastructure investments are discussed. These include technical risks (construction of technical infrastructure, operation); economic risks (management and operations, market risks, financial risks) and other risks related to the project environment. Measures of direct or indirect risk consideration that can be used in the network infrastructure development planning process to assess the risks of network investment are identified.

Treść artykułu w szerszej formie stanowiła wstęp do dyskusji, jaka odbyła się w ramach Wrocławskich Dni Mostowych w 2022 roku [4]. Wskazuje na kilka istotnych problemów, które wiążą się z szeroko pojętym wykorzystaniem przestrzeni podziemnej w miastach, w tym budową tuneli. Problem tunelowania został przedstawiony na tle rozwoju urbanistyki przestrzeni podziemnej w krajach najbardziej rozwiniętych technologicznie, a także na tle istniejących inwestycji w polskich miastach. Przedstawione rozwiązania porównano z warunkami w Polsce, a także wskazano przyczyny znacznych opóźnień w tego typu budowach i inwestycjach tunelowych. Pozwala to sądzić, że tego typu konstrukcje staną się standardem również w Polsce. Podkreślono również zasadność omawiania zagadnień mostowych i tunelowych na wspólnych spotkaniach, co może sprzyjać szerszej analizie rozwiązań projektowych w obszarze transportu ludzi i towarów zarówno w obrębie miast, jak i poza nimi.

The contents of the paper in a broader form was an introduction to a discussion as part of Wroclaw Bridge Days’2022 [4]. It indicates several important problems that are related to the broadly understood use of underground space in cities, including the construction of tunnels. The problem of tunneling was presented with regards to the development of the urban planning of underground space in the most technologically developed countries, and also with respect to existing investments in Polish cities. The presented solutions were compared with the conditions in Poland, and the causes of significant delays in these type of constructions and tunnel investments were provided. This allows for the belief that such structures will also become the standard in Poland. The justification for discussing bridge and tunnel issues at joint meetings was also emphasized, which may be conducive to a broader analysis of design solutions in the area of transporting people and goods both within cities and out of them.

The aim of this article is to propose a methodology to determine an appropriate period for the quantitative evaluation of the development of SER as a process and to validate it using a real-world example. There has been an increasing the analysis and assessment of the state of socio-economic systems (SES) for the purpose of managing their targeted development are gaining importance. The adequacy of such analysis and assessment is largely dependent on the duration of the period under consideration. Recently, the analysis and assessment of the state of socioeconomic systems (SES) for the purpose of managing their targeted development have gained importance. The accuracy of such analysis and assessment depends a lot on the duration of the period under consideration. In the absence of a clearly defined period, time spans of varying durations are used, ranging from a few years to several decades. The determination of an appropriate period is based on the impact of past development periods (years) on recent years. Studies have shown that this influence is strong (r = 0.85-0.95) and can be described using both linear and nonlinear regression models. The appropriate analysis period can be identified on the basis of the selected correlation coefficient between the most recent (base) year and the development observed in the preceding years. The optimal analysis period, expressed in years, corresponds to the point at which this relationship remains statistically significant.

Celem niniejszego artykułu jest zaproponowanie metodologii określania odpowiedniego okresu dla ilościowej oceny rozwoju SER jako procesu oraz jej walidacja na podstawie przykładu z życia wziętego. Coraz większego znaczenia nabiera analiza i ocena stanu systemów społeczno-gospodarczych (SES) w celu zarządzania ich ukierunkowanym rozwojem. Adekwatność takiej analizy i oceny zależy w dużej mierze od długości okresu, który jest przedmiotem rozważań. W ostatnim czasie coraz większego znaczenia nabiera analiza i ocena stanu systemów społeczno-gospodarczych (SES) w celu zarządzania ich ukierunkowanym rozwojem. Dokładność takich analiz i ocen zależy w dużej mierze od długości okresu, który jest przedmiotem analizy. W przypadku braku jasno określonego okresu stosuje się różne przedziały czasowe, od kilku lat do kilkudziesięciu lat. Określenie odpowiedniego okresu opiera się na wpływie poprzednich okresów rozwoju (lat) na ostatnie lata. Badania wykazały, że wpływ ten jest silny (r = 0,85-0,95) i można go opisać za pomocą modeli regresji liniowej i nieliniowej. Odpowiedni okres analizy można określić na podstawie wybranego współczynnika korelacji między ostatnim rokiem (bazowym) a rozwojem obserwowanym w poprzednich latach. Optymalny okres analizy, wyrażony w latach, odpowiada punktowi, w którym zależność ta pozostaje statystycznie istotna.

Among the major trends currently reshaping the organization and functioning of modern cities are the concepts of sustainable development, digital transformation, and urban resilience. The rapid advancement of these concepts in recent years is reflected in the growing volume of scientific publications across all three areas. This article aims to analyze these key research trends related to the development of contemporary cities and to identify their impact on urban public transport systems, which constitute a critical element of citizen services. Two complementary literature review methods were applied: a systematic review and a narrative review. The systematic review was designed to identify publications associated with each of the analyzed research trends, while the narrative review provided the basis for evaluating the influence of these developmental concepts on public transport systems in cities. The findings indicate strong interconnections between the notions of smart cities and sustainable cities, while the concept of resilience, as the most recent approach, draws upon selected assumptions of both. All three concepts exert a considerable influence on urban mobility. Sustainable development alters residents’ transport behaviors, smart mobility enhances the implementation and efficiency of transport processes, and well-functioning public transport systems play a crucial role in urban crisis management. Based on the analysis of research trends in public transport and ongoing technological transformations, the study identifies the main challenges and potential directions for the future development of urban public transport.

Celem pracy jest przedstawienie źródeł struktur funkcjonalnych obiektów przedszkolnych w latach 1980-2005 na tle europejskim i polskim. Prezentując ewolucję placówek przedszkolnych, należy stwierdzić, że obiekty powstałe w tym okresie zasługują na najlepszą ocenę. Dotyczy to zarówno rozwiązań funkcjonalno-przestrzennych obiektów, jak i sposobu realizacji zagadnień z dziedziny psychologii architektury. Działania architektów uzyskały sprzymierzeńców w postaci możliwości technologiczno-materiałowych. Uznając ostatni okres za najkorzystniejszy dla rozwoju placówek przedszkolnych od początku powstania, trudno jednak nie zwrócić uwagi na lata wcześniejsze. Przedszkole Kensal House w Londynie (1937; architekci: M. Fry, E. Denby) oraz Dom dziecka w Amsterdamie (1960; architekt A. van Eyck) są obiektami wyróżniającymi się w całej ewolucji obiektów przedszkolnych i stanowią wzorzec dla współczesnego projektowania przedszkoli.

The aim of this study is to present the origins of the functional structures of kindergarten facilities between 1980 and 2005 against a European and Polish background. In presenting the evolution of kindergarten facilities, it should be stated that the objects created during this period deserve the best assessment. This applies both to the functional and spatial solutions of the facilities and to the way in which the psychological issues of architecture were implemented. The activities of the architects gained allies in the form of technological and material possibilities. While recognising the last period as the most favourable for the development of pre-school facilities since their inception, it is difficult not to draw attention to the earlier years. The Kensal House kindergarten in London (1937; architects M. Fry, E. Denby) and the Children's House in Amsterdam (1960; architect A. van Eyck) are standout buildings in the entire evolution of kindergarten facilities and are models for contemporary kindergarten design.

Dane pomiarowe Instytutu Meteorologii i Gospodarki Wodnej z ostatnich dekad nie pozostawiają złudzeń co do negatywnych konsekwencji zmian klimatu w Polsce. O ile średnia roczna temperatura przeszło 50 lat temu, tj. w dziesięcioleciu 1961–1970, wynosiła 7,2˚C, to już w ostatniej dekadzie (2011–2020) było to 9,1˚C.

Jerzy Majewski był inżynierem elektrykiem – projektantem, szczególnie zasłużonym w odbudowę i rozwój krajowego systemu elektroenergetycznego. Studiował we Lwowie i w Grenoble we Francji. Uczestniczył w Kampanii Wrześniowej. Lata wojenne spędził na Zachodzie we Francji, Kanadzie i w Wielkiej Brytanii, gdzie pełnił służbę w 304 Dywizjonie Bombowym. Po powrocie do kraju całe życie zawodowe związał z elektroenergetyką, w szczególności z przedsiębiorstwem Energoprojekt. Pracował jako wykładowca AGH. Uczestniczył w pracach CIGRE. Posiada znaczący dorobek publikacyjny.

This article provides a biography and the key professional achievements of Mr. Jerzy Majewski (1913 – 1980), a distinguished Polish electric power engineer, lead of numerous engineering projects aiming at construction of the highest voltage transmission system in Poland. As the head and technical lead of Energoprojekt, the state level institution in charge of designing the highest voltage (110kV -750 kV) lines and substations as well as related studies and country level regulations. he significantly marked development of the power grid and pioneered implementation of the related technics in the devastated, after the WWII, country. Graduated from the Polytechnic Universities of Lvov and Grenoble (France), spent the war and the immediate post war period in France, Canada and the UK. In the years 1938-1940 served in the Polish Army participating in defense of Poland in 1939 and then, in the years 1942-1946 served as an airman in the British R.A.F

This study discusses the results of research into changes in the tourist traffic in port cities, which may pose challenges to the planning of city logistics. The analysis draws on the statistical data on tourism. The study sample includes four cities located in Poland’s two coastal areas at the Baltic Sea: Szczecin and Świnoujście (West Pomeranian region), and Gdańsk and Gdynia (Pomeranian region). Covering the years 1995–2022, the analysis has been complemented with a review of the literature on the role of city logistics in solving problems caused by the development of tourism. The rapid growth of tourism generates an increased flow of people, goods, and information, which may be detrimental to the smooth functioning of a city. Insights into the development of tourist traffic over the years may facilitate the planning of city logistics and reconcile the function of a tourist destination with that of a port, which the cities have to perform. Purpose: The purpose of the research was to identify potential HR development opportunities in the age of AI implementation in businesses, as well as the opinions of respondents regarding the use of AI in the company and HR activities. Design/methodology/approach: The analysis was conducted objectively, avoiding any subjective evaluations. The literature review as well as personal study were conducted. Two research questions have been formulated: (RQ1) How do respondents evaluate the use of AI in their workplace, and what potential do they see for AI in HRM processes? (RQ2) According to respondents, what is the impact of AI on HR activities and development? 99 participants took part in the study and completed an on-line survey questionnaire. The respondents were non-stationary students from the Faculty of Management at Czestochowa University of Technology. Findings: The research was cognitive in nature, and the collected data was subject to statistical analysis. The survey results revealed deficiencies in the implementation of advanced technology in HR operations among the companies surveyed. However, organizations and employees are aware of the benefits of implementing AI solutions. Research limitations/implications: The study is limited by the selection of the research sample (working part-time students); in the future, it is planned to involve employees of HR departments of various enterprises and institutions in the study for greater credibility of the study results. Practical implications: The use of solutions offered by AI in practice accelerates the implementation of HR activities and thus achieves better work efficiency in a shorter time. HR in the future will be completely or mostly dominated by modern technology. Social implications: Some individuals approach artificial intelligence more critically, while others take a conservative stance and seek out its various ‘flaws.’ The use of artificial intelligence in business is inevitable, especially in the HR area, so employees from these departments must take into account major changes in the nature of their work. Originality/value: The article discusses the current topic of the use of AI-based solutions in business. Artificial intelligence is becoming more prevalent in business operations as it automates processes, resulting in more efficient and effective task execution, particularly in the case of repetitive tasks.

This developmental research aimed to produce a supplemental learning material in Mathematics for Seamanship (Trim and Stability) using the ADDIE model. Mathematics concepts were determined through content analysis by examining the Seamanship Instructor’s Guide and class handouts and validated by two maritime teachers of JBLFMU-Arevalo. An outline of the lessons was drafted from the results of the content analysis. The supplemental learning material was then developed using the 4E Instructional model – Engage, Explore, Explain, and Evaluate. Furthermore, simple random sampling was used to select the 30 BSMT 2 students taking up Seamanship during the second semester of school year 2018-2019 as respondents. Meanwhile, a purposive sampling was used to determine 18 experts – 12 in Maritime Education and 6 in Mathematics. A researcher-made questionnaire that underwent validation and reliability testing was utilized to gather data. The statistical tools used were frequency, mean, and standard deviation. The results of the study showed that the mathematics concepts embedded in Seamanship lessons were: (1) Integers, (2) Fractions, (3) Decimals, (4) Percent, (5) Algebra, and (6) Trigonometry. It was also found that students have a “Very High” satisfaction towards the supplemental material when taken as a whole and in terms of physical aspects, objectives, learning activities, evaluation procedure, and usefulness. On the other hand, experts believed the supplemental learning material has a “Very High” acceptability when taken as a whole and in terms of physical aspects, objectives, and usefulness. However, experts found that it only has a “High” acceptability in terms of learning activities, and evaluation procedure. Thus, the supplemental learning material in Seamanship is appropriate, relevant, and useful in general and in terms physical aspects, objectives, learning activities, and evaluation procedure. It has also met the expectations and standards of chosen experts as reflected on their evaluation rating. Furthermore, the supplemental learning material may be subjected to the scrutiny of experts in the production of instructional materials and may be edited, if the expert suggests to do so. The university may use this supplemental learning material in improving students’ mastery of important mathematics lessons needed in Seamanship. Similarly, future researchers may conduct an experimental study to determine if the use of this supplemental learning material may improve students’ academic performance in Seamanship or another developmental research to produce similar supplemental learning materials for other maritime and general education subjects.

This article attempts to define the concept of in-service training and its impact on the education system. Using a research method involving a diagnostic survey, in-service training needs were diagnosed from the teachers’ point of view, and it was determined which forms and types of training are most attractive from the teachers’ perspective. An evaluation of the in-service teacher training system was also made in the context of the changes taking place in the contemporary world. The research concluded that in-service training should be an integral part of the teaching profession.

W niniejszym artykule podjęto próbę zdefiniowania pojęcia doskonalenia zawodowego oraz jego wpływu na system edukacji. Przy użyciu metody badawczej w postaci sondażu diagnostycznego dokonano diagnozy potrzeb doskonalenia zawodowego z punktu widzenia nauczycieli, a także określono, jakie formy i rodzaje szkoleń są najbardziej atrakcyjne z perspektywy nauczycieli. Dokonano również oceny systemu doskonalenia zawodowego nauczycieli w kontekście zachodzących zmian we współczesnym świecie. W wyniku przeprowadzonych badań stwierdzono, że nieodłącznym elementem zawodu nauczyciela powinno być doskonalenie zawodowe.
