W pierwszej części artykułu dokonano zdefiniowania kluczowych pojęć związanych z nowoczesną, „inteligentną” przędzalnią włókien odcinkowych, a mianowicie takich, jak: digitalizacja i cyfryzacja. W następnej kolejności zarysowano wizję i ideę nowoczesnej, przyszłościowej przędzalni proponowanej przez szwajcarską firmę RIETER będącą potentatem w zakresie produkcji maszyn przędzalniczych. Stwierdzono, że przędzalnia przyszłości, lansowana i kształtowana konsekwentnie przez firmę RIETER, to przędzalnia, w której cyfrowa inteligencja łączy każdy krok, a autonomiczne roboty przejmują obsługę manualną, wykonywaną przez operatorów maszyn przędzalniczych. W prezentowanym artykule zaprezentowano i scharakteryzowano również kluczowe komponenty automatyzacji odpowiedzialne za: automatyczny system transportu bel – SERVObale, garów przędzalniczych – SERVOcan, Scharakteryzowano również systemy służące do łączenia zerwanych odcinków przędz na przędzarkach rotorowych – ROBOdoff, a także w pełni zautomatyzowany system pakowania gotowych nawojów przędzy – SERVOPACK.

The first part of the article defines key concepts related to a modern, “intelligent” staple fiber spinning mill, namely digitalization and digitization. Next, the vision and concept of a modern, future-oriented staple fiber spinning mill proposed by the Swiss company RIETER, a leader in the production of spinning machines, are outlined. It is concluded that the spinning mill of the future, consistently promoted and shaped by RIETER, is a mill in which digital intelligence connects every step, and autonomous robots take over the manual operations performed by spinning machine operators. The presented article also presents and characterizes the key automation components responsible for: the automatic bale transport system – SERVObale, spinning cans – SERVOcan, systems for combining broken yarn sections on rotor spinning machines – ROBOdoff, as well as the fully automated packaging system for finished yarn packages SERVOPACK.

An automated technique for detecting and classifying defects in valve-casting radiography pictures is presented in this research. The suggested system offers solutions for challenging radiography image interpretation issues. The over-segmentation issue is resolved by the multiple morphological image processing used in this work, which also provides good results for identifying the size and shape of the faults. The suggested system is a collection of methods to implement an automated system for inspecting valve-casting radiography images. Film digitization, image pre-processing aimed primarily at noise reduction and elimination, contrast enhancement and discriminate feature enhancement facing interpretation, multi-level morphological image processing, and defect region segmentation are steps in automated defect detection and classification. After the segmented region's features are recovered, principal component analysis (PCA) is carried out. On PCA data, classification methods like artificial neural networks (ANN) are used. A casting manufacturing company evaluated the new economical working style for a variety of valve castings.

Purpose: The purpose of this paper is to investigate the relationship between digital initiatives and Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) performance in the Polish industrial sector. The research aims to determine how the implementation of Industry 4.0 technologies contributes to corporate sustainability and supports the achievement of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Design/methodology/approach: The study adopts a mixed-method approach, combining qualitative textual analysis and quantitative statistical evaluation. Corporate sustainability reports of 15 publicly listed companies from the WIG50 index were analyzed using a predefined set of digitalization-related keywords to assess the presence and intensity of digital initiatives. Statistical analysis, including Pearson correlation and regression modeling, was used to identify relationships between digital transformation and ESG performance. The research also considers the influence of external factors, such as regulatory conditions and market competition, on digital strategy development. Findings: The findings reveal a positive but moderated correlation between digital initiatives and ESG performance in the Polish industrial sector. Industry 4.0 technologies such as AI-driven energy optimization, IoT systems, and digital twins were found to significantly contribute to sustainability objectives. However, the results also highlight the complex nature of ESG performance, indicating that while digitalization is a key enabler, other organizational and environmental variables also play a critical role. Research limitations/implications: The research is limited by its scope, focusing on 15 companies within the industrial sector in Poland. Future research should consider a broader dataset, use longitudinal methods, and include qualitative case studies to deepen insights into the evolving relationship between digitalization and sustainability. Practical implications: The study offers practical insights by showing how digital transformation can enhance ESG performance. Companies can use these findings to guide strategic investment in digital technologies within sustainability and governance frameworks. Originality/value: This paper provides novel empirical evidence on the digitalizationsustainability nexus in the Polish industrial context. It adds value by bridging the gap between digital transformation and ESG performance, and is relevant for researchers, practitioners, and policymakers interested in sustainable industrial development.

Purpose: The article aims to compare activities of selected museum institutions concerning the protection of digital cultural heritage and offer recommendations for other museums in Poland based on the insights. Its focal point is conservation and digitisation practices as well as asset management processes in three organisations: two private museums and a museum affiliated with a university library. Design/methodology/approach: The authors employed a qualitative approach in the form of case studies and desk research. Detailed accounts are provided of the processes in the three institutions, the Museum of Electronics in Kraków, the ‘Good Old Retro’ Museum in Gniezno, and the Central Library of the University of Agriculture in Kraków. Findings: The authors identified challenges for all three institutions, such as limited access to spare parts, degradation of storage devices, and a shortage of qualified staff. Differences among them include the scope of activities and methods of presenting their collections to the public. The library concentrates on digitising its assets and building an online knowledge platform, while the museums preserve electronics and hold open, interactive exhibitions for visitors. Practical implications: The results can be used as good practices for cultural institutions that face new challenges of protecting digital heritage, particularly restrictions linked to the limited availability of technical resources and qualified personnel. Originality/value: The comparative analysis of three different models of digital cultural heritage management offers new research perspectives and suggests potential adaptation scenarios for diverse institutional contexts.

Purpose: The purpose of this article is to identify and assess key factors that impact customer data security in agile organizations. The study aims to determine priorities in data security management and to indicate patterns in how respondents perceive these factors. Design/methodology/approach: The study was conducted using a survey method on a sample of 303 respondents in April-May 2023. The results were subjected to multivariate correspondence analysis (MCA) to identify relationships and patterns between data security factors. Findings: The results indicate that factors such as data encryption systems, access control, real-time monitoring, and employee training are key. The MCA analysis revealed the interconnections between these factors and identified areas for further optimization in data security. Research limitations/implications: The study is limited to agile organizations and relies on subjective opinions of respondents. The results may be extended in the future to other types of organizations or through the use of mixed methods to deepen the analysis. Practical implications: The presented results can support organizations in developing effective customer data protection strategies. Recommended actions include implementing advanced security systems, regular audits and intensifying employee training. Social implications: Improving customer data security strengthens consumer trust and loyalty while contributing to a more secure digital environment. These activities also respond to societal expectations related to respect for privacy and ethics in data management. Originality/value: The article provides a unique perspective on the issue of customer data security in the context of agile organizations. The use of MCA analysis allowed for an in-depth assessment of patterns and relationships between factors, which enriches the literature on the subject and supports decision-making in organizations striving for operational agility. Purpose: The purpose of the publication is to evaluate the effectiveness of selected instruments, concepts, methods, techniques, tools and principles of quality management in the context of their use in the conditions of Industry 4.0, based on the opinions of experts representing the scientific and industrial community. Design/methodology/approach: The research used quantitative expert analysis. Thirty-three experts participated, of which 26 were selected for the final analysis (13 representing industry and 13 the scientific community). The selection of experts was based on a competence factor, taking into account self-assessment of familiarity with the subject matter and the quality of argumentation. Forty-two quality management tools and methods were evaluated using descriptive statistics and Spearman rank correlation analysis. Findings: The results of the survey indicate that industrial practitioners and researchers differ in their preferences for the tools they use - the former focus on practical and implementation solutions, while the latter focus on analytical and conceptual tools. Despite these differences, a number of tools highly rated by both groups were also identified. Spearman correlation analysis revealed strong relationships between some methods (e.g., Scatter Diagram and Workflow, QFD and Gantt chart), suggesting the possibility of their complementary use. The results confirm the need to integrate quality management tools in an Industry 4.0 environment. Research limitations/implications: The selection of experts, based on recommendations and self-assessment, carries a risk of subjectivity despite objective criteria. The analysis covered only 42 tools, not fully reflecting the diversity of quality management methods. The absence of strong correlations may stem from the adopted methodology and the complexity of the studied relationships. Future research should involve a broader, more diverse sample, consider industry specifics, and analyze a wider range of tools. Originality/value: The publication provides a detailed analysis of the evaluation of the effectiveness of quality management tools under the conditions of Industry 4.0 and indicates the relationship between them. The results of the study can provide a basis for building integrated quality management systems adapted to the challenges of digital transformation.

The aim of this paper is to study the trends in the development of e-banking in Poland and its impact on the volume of deposits on bank accounts. General scientific and empirical methods and tools of economic science, methods of analysis and synthesis, comparison, summary and grouping were used in the study. GRETL software was used to model the relationship between the indicators of e-banking development and the volume of deposits in the Polish banking sector. The indicators of e-banking development in Poland show a positive trend, but still remain lower than in EU countries with a high level of online banking development. There has been a growing trend in the number of “mobile only” users, i.e., m-banking is the main channel of banking services for customers. The developed model of the relationship between e-banking indicators and the volume of deposits in Polish banks confirmed the existence of a significant dependence between the number of active e-banking users and the increase in deposit resources.

Background: Artificial intelligence (AI) is poised to profoundly reshape logistics and supply chain management in the 21st century - much as the steam engine, electricity, and computers transformed industries in earlier eras. AI is recognised as a key driver in developing next-generation supply chains, enhancing organisational agility, and improving delivery efficiency. It supports a wide range of operational and managerial functions, including preventive, reactive, and corrective actions within logistics systems. Most importantly, AI reduces the risk of human error, thereby mitigating economic and business losses and lowering operational costs. This article aims to identify the most critical areas of AI application in logistics and supply chain management, explore its broader potential uses, and discuss solutions to implementation challenges, with particular emphasis on the human factor. As a holistic review, the study contributes to the literature by mapping current AI applications, highlighting emerging trends, and underscoring human-centric challenges, thereby providing a foundation for further research. Methods: A systematic literature review was conducted following the SALSA (Search, Appraisal, Synthesis, and Analysis) approach to address the research gap in understanding the practical applications of AI tools in logistics and supply chain management. Results: The analysis revealed five key directions for implementing AI technologies in logistics and supply chains. Human factors - and the related phenomenon of “dehumanisation”- emerged as critical challenges for managers overseeing transformations that extend beyond IT integration towards the systemic adoption of AI in operations and management. Conclusions: The potential applications of AI in logistics are diverse, encompassing demand forecasting, inventory management, delivery route optimisation, resources planning, and process monitoring, among others. Each of these applications influences the role of humans within organisations and operational processes, requiring strategic, tactical, and operational adaptation. The study identifies its limitations and proposes directions for future research on AI applications in logistics and supply chain management. Human-machine interaction should remain a central focus of future investigations into AI-driven transformations.

The deepfake phenomenon is one of the most advanced tools of digital manipulation in the modern information age. Technology based on artificial intelligence and deep learning allows the creation of incredibly realistic yet completely false video and audio materials that can effectively mislead audiences. The aim of this article is to present the essence of the deepfake phenomenon, and development, analyze the mechanisms of manipulation and disinformation in the context of deepfakes, and discuss countermeasures against the deepfake phenomenon, with particular emphasis on regulatory strategies and methods for mitigating the negative effects of this technology in the digital space.

W artykule przedstawiono kompleksowy przegląd rozwoju automatyzacji w inżynierii produkcji i zaprezentowano różne metodologie oraz zastosowania automatyzacji z różnych okresów historycznych. Artykuł omawia wyzwania stojące przed przemysłem, proponując jednocześnie przyszłe ścieżki badawcze i praktyczne zastosowania automatyzacji. Przedstawiono w jaki sposób narzędzia automatyzacji, takie jak robotyka, sztuczna inteligencja i Internet Rzeczy, rewolucjonizują wydajność produkcji i zarządzanie zasobami. Poddano analizie funkcjonowanie systemów cyberfizycznych w systemach zautomatyzowanych, ze szczególnym uwzględnieniem środków bezpieczeństwa niezbędnych w środowisku Przemysłu 4.0. Purpose: The article aims to explore final-year undergraduate accounting students' knowledge and awareness of the changing role of accountants in the wake of digitalization. Design/methodology/approach: A survey was conducted among students attending the last semester of specialized undergraduate studies in Poland regarding their state of knowledge and awareness of digitalization-driven change in the role of accountants. The results obtained were further compared with a pilot study conducted among students of master's degree programs. Findings: The survey showed unequivocally that students are aware of the change in the role of accountants in consequence of digitalization, with no distinction between undergraduate and graduate students, full-time or part-time mode. The respondents indicate the need to possess and refine digital competencies. The students are familiar with digitalization tools, although to a very varying degree. They recognize the benefits of and barriers to implementing digitalization. They likewise identify new roles for accountants arising from digitalization. Research limitations/implications: The survey employed the method of selection by convenience, which renders the results obtained non-generalizable to the entire population. Practical implications: The article indicates students' awareness of the changing role of accountants and the need for digital competence in the profession. Originality/value: The article allows to partially fill the research gap in empirical studies on the changing role of accountants as a result of digitalization. It also sets the stage for further empirical research on the challenges in academic accounting education, with a focus on digital transformation.

Purpose: The purpose of this publication is to present the applications of usage of business analytics in cybersecurity analytics. Design/methodology/approach: Critical literature analysis. Analysis of international literature from main databases and polish literature and legal acts connecting with researched topic. Findings: The integration of business analytics into cybersecurity practices within Industry 4.0 signifies a pivotal advancement in safeguarding organizational assets against the evolving cyber threat landscape. As industrial systems grow more complex and interconnected, traditional security methods focused on perimeter defenses are increasingly inadequate. Modern cybersecurity strategies must therefore incorporate advanced analytics to manage and mitigate risks effectively. Business analytics enhances cybersecurity through sophisticated machine learning algorithms, predictive capabilities for anticipating future threats, and improved incident response via real-time monitoring and automated alerts. These innovations foster a proactive and efficient security approach, enabling swift detection, response, and informed decision-making based on thorough risk assessments. Despite these advantages, challenges such as data overload, false positives, integration hurdles, and the need for specialized expertise persist. Additionally, concerns about data privacy, costs, and analytical complexity must be managed. Embracing business analytics while addressing these challenges will enable organizations to fortify their security posture, optimize resource use, and adapt to the demands of Industry 4.0, thereby shaping the future of cybersecurity in a rapidly evolving digital landscape. The paper highlights both the advantages, including improved decision-making, increased efficiency, and data-driven innovation, as well as the challenges, such as data quality concerns and integration difficulties. Ultimately, it underscores the significance of business analytics in fostering a culture of ongoing refinement and adaptability, crucial for sustaining competitive advantage and achieving long¬term success in the evolving industrial landscape. Purpose: The article aims to explore last-year accounting students' knowledge and awareness of the changing role of accountants in the wake of digitalization. Design/methodology/approach: A literature review was carried out, and a pilot survey was conducted among final-semester graduate students in Poland and Romania, assessing their knowledge and awareness of the changing role of accountants due to digitalization. Findings: The pilot study revealed that students are aware of the changing role of accountants in the wake of digitalization. They recognize the need to possess and advance technological competencies, rating such expertise currently at a medium to moderately high level. They simultaneously regard as impossible that, given the rise of digitalization, accounting positions will be filled by individuals without area-specific education, and that RPA and AI will replace professional judgment. The students are also familiar with digitalization tools, although to a significantly varying degree. They also do identify both the benefits of as well as the barriers to implementing digitalization. Research limitations/implications: The empirical survey employed the method of selection by convenience, therefore the results obtained cannot be generalized onto the entire population. Practical implications: The article reveals that students are aware of the changing role of accountants on the one hand, and of the utmost importance of technological competencies in the profession on the other. Originality/value: The article partly fills the research gap in empirical studies on the changing role of accountants due to digitalization. It also provides the basis for the subsequent in-depth stage of the empirical research on the awareness of the students of applicable majors regarding the changing role of accountants and the profession in the wake of digitalization.

Industry leaders, together with their horizontal value chain partners, digitise the core functions of their internal (vertical) operational processes. They are strengthening their product portfolio with digital functionalities and introducing innovative data services. More than 2,000 companies expect a significant increase in the overall level of digitisation. Although only 33% of them rate their company's current state in this area as advanced, by 2020, this percentage is expected to rise to more than 70%. At the end of this transformation process, successful industrial companies will become true digital enterprises, which will have at their core physical products augmented by digital interfaces and innovative services based on the active use of data. These digital enterprises will work together with their customers as well as suppliers in industrial digital ecosystems. These developments will not only fundamentally change individual companies, but also transforms market dynamics across a range of industries. And this is true in countries all over the world - as both developed and emerging markets. In order to generate additional revenue, the companies will bring new industrial products to the market equipped with digital features and expand their existing portfolio. Digital-based services based on data analytics as well as complete digital solutions serving customers, will be the main will be the main drivers of revenue growth. The biggest challenge for industrial for industry leaders is not technology, but people. While digital technologies are fast becoming a commodity, the success largely depends on the digital IQ of an organization, especially on how its executives (CEO, CTO, or CIO) can drive this transformation can define, communicate and manage it. To develop digital processes and services is necessary sufficient qualification of key staff. The introduction of each significant change in the enterprise is is accompanied by a challenging transition period, so that the ability to manage and to manage such change will have critical. It will be important also increasing skills in data analytics and improving the organisational structure.

Solar-oriented architectural design is an emerging architectural approach to high energy consumption in buildings. The digital technologies used in this approach allow designers to test the performance of the building simultaneously by providing all the conditions of the design space parametrically. In this study, Compressed Shortcut (CS) tools, which are developed as an easy and fast solution to reach the optimum result in solar energy efficiency-oriented design approaches, are used. These tools are analyzed on a residential building in Ankara. Rhinoceros - Grasshopper and Ladybug plug-in programs were used as a method. As a result, the usability of the CS tools applied with the developed digital tools has been demonstrated as a method that enables the designs to be in optimum energy in a very fast and easy way.

W pracy opisano autorską edukacyjną aplikację mobilną przeznaczoną dla dzieci wykorzystującą technologię AR. Głównym celem aplikacji jest nauczenie dzieci zdrowych nawyków żywieniowych, zapoznanie ich z produktami, które mają pozytywny wpływ na organizm człowieka oraz produktami, których spożycie może skutkować poważnymi negatywnymi konsekwencjami zdrowotnymi. W celu wykazania użyteczności aplikacji przeprowadzono badanie ankietowe wśród grupy 57 dzieci w wieku 10-11 lat. Badanie polegało na przygotowaniu ankiety wejściowej i wyjściowej zawierającej 8 takich samych pytań. Uzyskane wyniki badań potwierdziły zasadność stworzenia aplikacji ponieważ zaobserwowano istotny przyrost wiedzy w zakresie zdrowego żywienia wśród badanej grupy dzieci.

The paper describes an original educational mobile application using AR technology dedicated for children. The main goal of the application is to teach children healthy eating habits, introducing them to products that have a good impact on the human body and products whose consumption may result in serious consequences. In order to demonstrate the usefulness of the application, a survey was conducted among a group of 57 children (age: 10-11). The study involved preparing an entry and exit survey containing 8 of the same questions. The obtained results of investigation confirmed the validity of the creating application because a significant increase in knowledge regarding healthy eating was observed among the studied group of children.
