This study explores the accuracy and applicability of three advanced subsidence prediction methods—Asadi profile function, VNIMI subsidence function, and KHCNM subsidence function—under the challenging conditions of inclined seam mining at Mong Duong coal mine in Vietnam. By comparing predicted subsidence values with direct observation data, the research evaluates the precision of each method using statistical metrics such as actual deviation (Δ), root mean square error (RMSE), mean absolute error (MAE), and correlation coefficient (r). The findings reveal that both the Asadi and VNIMI functions demonstrate high accuracy, with RMSE values of 0.081 m and 0.080 m, and MAE values of 0.055 m and 0.059 m, respectively. The KHCNM function, while slightly less accurate, still provides valuable insights with RMSE and MAE values of 0.101 m and 0.076 m. The study underscores the importance of precise subsidence prediction in safeguarding surface structures and optimizing mining technology, recommending further research to integrate the strengths of Asadi and VNIMI functions for enhanced prediction across different sections of the subsidence basin. This comprehensive evaluation offers a promising pathway for improving subsidence prediction in inclined seam mining, contributing to safer and more efficient mining

W artykule przedstawiono wyniki porównawcze miejscowego spalania 24 belek w skali rzeczywistej, obciążonych statycznie, wykonanych z kompozytu drewno-CFRP oraz drewna klejonego. Wytężenie próbek wynosiło 90%, w klasie drewna klejonego GL24h. Mierzone były czas spalania do momentu zniszczenia belki, przyrost ugięcia i temperatura elementu.

The COVID-19 epidemic is gradually being pushed back in Vietnam as well as around the world, but the emergence of different variants of the SARS COVI 2 virus remain a risk that could lead to a resurgence of the disease . Therefore, preparing sopportive information for epidemic prevention, especially disease risk maps based on spatial data, is essential to ensure that Vietnam can live safely with the SARS COVI virus 2. This paper presents a method for creating a COVID-19 sensitive map of Hanoi city using the QGIS technology. From there, areas at high risk of rapid infection when there are initial cases in the community and regions at high risk of outbreak can be identified in this map. This information helps the government plan to prioritize early vaccine coverage as well as propose reasonable epidemic prevention measures.

Mining-induced road subsidence is a significant concern in areas with extensive underground mining activities. Therefore, the prediction of road subsidence is crucial for effective land management and infrastructure planning. This paper applies an artificial neural network (ANN) to predict road subsidence caused by underground mining activities in Vietnam. The ANN model proposed in this study is adopted relying on the recursive multistep prediction process, in which the predicted value in the previous step is appended to the time series to predict the next value. The entire dataset of 12 measured epochs covering 12 months with a 1-month repeat time is divided into the training set by the first 9 measured epochs and the test set by the last 3 measured epochs. K-fold cross validation is first applied to the training set to determine the best model’s hyperparameters, which are then adopted to predict land subsidence of the test set. Absolute errors of the predicted road subsidence depend on the separated time between the last measured epoch and the predicted epoch. Those errors at the 10th month of the three tested points are 3.0%, 0.1 %, and 0.1%, which increase to 4.8%, 3.3%, and 1.5% at the 11th month, and 7.2%, 2.5% and 1.3% at the 12th month. The absolute errors are found to be small, which were all ranged with 0.5 mm and demonstrates that the proposed method utilizing ANN in this study can produce good prediction for road subsidence time series at mining areas.

Eurocode standard recommends using fundamental basic wind velocity (characteristic velocity) as the design value in civil engineering. There are different approaches to estimate this value depending on the climate features of the given area and the quality of environmental data. The estimation of the characteristic value requires statistical analysis of historical data regarding wind velocities measured throughout the country at meteorological stations. The results of the analysis are probability density distributions of this random variable for each meteorological station. On this basis, values of characteristic wind velocity with a mean return period of 50 years are determined. The zones with uniform velocities are delineated on the map of the country. In the case of Poland the last evaluation of wind zones took place over 15 years ago. Higher quality of measurement data on the one hand, and the introduction of the second generation of Eurocode standards on the other hand, create a need to check and update these zones. This work presents theoretical basis for the estimation of characteristic values of random variables in the context of wind velocity, comprehensively reviews practical methods used for this purpose and summarizes current situation in Poland, finally discusses the issues related to the heterogeneity of wind data, illustrating them with an example.

EN
The paper discusses wind tunnel measurements performed on vertically placed rectangular prisms representing medium and high-rise buildings. The results concern mean wind velocity pressure coefficient. The influences of the angle of wind attack, boundary layer and dimensions of models are considered. Two rectangular models of side ratio D/B = 2 (0.5) and two models of side ratio D/B = 4 (0.25) and different aspect ratios are investigated. Four cases of boundary layer flows are simulated. The prisms are examined at a full range of wind angles that change every 15°. Spatial distributions of the mean wind velocity pressure are similar between models and boundary layers at all angles of wind attack but differ significantly in values, especially on windward and side walls. The boundary layer characteristics have slightly stronger influence on the mean pressure coefficient on windward walls than the change in side ratio and dimensions of models. From the other hand, the change in model geometry influences suction a little stronger on leeward and side walls than the change of boundary layer. The wind action on windward wide wall causes greater differences of pressure on this wall and smaller differences of suction on side and leeward walls than the wind action on windward narrow wall. The oblique angles of wind attack cause greater suction at top parts of the models near the roof due to forming conical vortices.

There are many mines in Poland that have been in operation for over 100 years, with the Tadeusz Kościuszko mine being a large salt mine in Wapno, northern Poland. The mine was closed in 1977 due to the greatest catastrophe in the history of Polish mining, but in the first days of 2021, a very large hole has been created in this area due to land subsidence. This article uses InSAR technology with Sentinel-1 images to determine settlement and ongoing deformation in this mine. The study results are useful for policymakers, managers, and authorities because land subsidence has caused serious and dangerous effects on people living in the area. The results processed by the Persistent Scatterer InSAR (PSInSAR) method with the Sentinel Application Platform and the Stanford Method for Persistent Scatterers software packages show that deformation in the Wapno village area has been detected in both residential and non-residential areas, with maximum subsidence of up to −19 mm/yr. The subsidence in the mine reaches −12 mm/yr, and that at surrounding area range from 0 to −18.8 mm/yr.

Laser scanners are used more and more as surveying instruments for various applications. With the advance of high precisions systems, laser scanner devices can work in most real-world environments under many different conditions. In the field of mining surveying open up a new method with data capturing. Mining industry requires precise data in order to be able to have a as-built documentation of the facility. Nowadays, the mines are increasingly deepened. For the safe operation of the underground mine, special attention is paid to vertical transport and a set of devices supporting it, mounted in mining shafts. All components must meet stringent criteria for proper operation. The classic geodetic measurements and mechanical tests are long-lasting and do not always provide the full range of information needed about the condition of the object. This paper reports about terrestrial laser scanning method and system mobile terrestrial laser scanning, which has been applied at many vertical shafts in mines of Poland for determining geometric deformation of vertical shaft elements. This system gives high precision 1–3 mm in every horizontal cross-section. Processing time is very quickly and need only few staff to implement all system.

The article presents the possibilities of using a video camera to create a 3D metric model of engineering objects using Agisoft and CloudCompare software. Traditional photogrammetry technique does not always match up with production urgency needed by the market. Complexity is seen when used in huge objects leading to rise of cost, time and tediousness of the work. The use of Video Camera technique here termed as videogrammetry technique is comparable to taking pictures, however, it allows to speed up the process of obtaining data, which in many cases is a key element in anyb any project or research. The analysis of the quality of 3D modelling of the three filmed objects was performed, which allowed the authors to refine the procedure for acquiring images for spatial analyses. The applied technique of “videogrammetry” is comparable to taking pictures, but allows the data acquisition process to speed up, which in many cases is a key element in field research. 3D objects videos from no-metric camera were processed by Agisoft Metashape. To be able to assess the accuracy of the videogrammetry data, a well-established Laser scanner technique’s data was used for comparison. The laser scanner data were pre-processed in Autodesk Recap. Manual registration was performed utilizing 14 points from the three scans. The two 3D models were exported to CloudCompare software for comparison and further analysis. An analysis of the quality of 3D modelling of the three objects filmed was performed, which allowed refining the procedure for obtaining images for spatial analysis. The article presents the possibilities of using a non-metric mobile phone video camera “videogrammetry” to create a metric 3D model of engineering objects using Agisoft and CloudCompare software. In CloudCompare a registration, cloud to cloud (C2C) and profile to profile analysis was performed to determine the uncertainty of the 3D model produced from videogrammetry data determined as distance of separation between the two models. Results show average distance of separation between laser scanner and videogrammetry derived 3D model point cloud to be 34cm, the average profile separation was 25 cm in XY plane and 1.9 cm in Z-plane. Using Cloud to Cloud PCV the average difference of 84 cm was determined.

Content available remote Façade scaffolding behaviour under wind action
EN
The main objective of the study was to estimate the mean horizontal wind action on a façade scaffolding on the basis of full-scale data. Measurements of climatic parameters were carried out for a number of façade scaffoldings (120 structures) located in Poland over a 30-month period. The measurement points were located on 2–3 deck levels of each structure and at 2–4 points placed in each level. The measurements were carried out 3–4 times during each day for 5 consecutive days. At each point, two components of wind speed were measured: first with the vane probe directed perpendicular to the façade and then parallel to the façade. Each measurement lasted 60 s, and the data were recorded every 1 s. On the basis of wind speeds, a procedure was suggested that enabled estimation of the static wind action on façade scaffoldings. The responses of structures to this action were computed via FEM simulations. The results were compared with those based on the approaches recommended by the wind and scaffolding codes. Initial analyses, illustrated by three scaffoldings without a protective cover, indicated large discrepancies between the approaches and the possibility of wind action, which is not considered in the codes.
