Ahe paper presents a new approach to solving Multi-criteria decision-making problems. The presented approach identifies an expert decision-making model in the state of the problem. The characteristic objects method identifies a model by using fuzzy set theory and characteristic objects as reference objects. This method is complete free of the rank reversal phenomenon. It means that if new alternatives are added or removed from alternatives set then rank existing order will be not changed. The characteristic objects method will be used to identify the multi-criteria model of 10-year risk of having a heart attack.

This paper presents a new multi-criteria decision-making method: the COMET method. This approach is an alternative for AHP, TOPSIS, ELECTRE or PROMETHEE methods. The paper presents the possibility of using the COMET method in supply chain management (SCM) and Logistics. For this purpose, a brief review of the literature is shown. Then the COMET method is presented in detail. At the end of the article, a simple problem is shown.

Electroencephalography (EEG) is commonly used in a variety scientific fields. Unfortunately, commercial devices are generally very expensive, costing thousands of dollars. In recent years, devices costing under $200 have been made available. The MindWave MW001, developed by Neurosky Inc., is currently the least expensive commercial EEG device, costing less than $100. The paper presents how to record and process the raw EEG signal from the MindWave MW001 in the MATLAB environment. This paper then show how Fast Fourier Transform (FFT) is used to find the frequency components in a time domain signal. Based on a sample signal and spectral analysis, the basic EEG waves are presented.

Multi-criteria decision-making (MCDM) methods are associated with the ranking of alternatives based on expert judgments made using a number of criteria. In the MCDM field, the distance-based approach is one popular method for receiving a final ranking. One of the newest MCDM method, which uses the distance-based approach, is the Characteristic Objects Method (COMET). In this method, the preferences of each alternative are obtained on the basis of the distance from the nearest characteristic objects and their values. For this purpose, the domain and fuzzy numbers set for all the considered criteria are determined. The characteristic objects are obtained as the combination of the crisp values of all the fuzzy numbers. The preference values of all the characteristic object are determined based on the tournament method and the principle of indifference. Finally, the fuzzy model is constructed and is used to calculate preference values of the alternatives. In this way, a multi-criteria model is created and it is free of rank reversal phenomenon. In this approach, the matrix of expert judgment is necessary to create. For this purpose, an expert has to compare all the characteristic objects with each other. The number of necessary comparisons depends squarely to the number of objects. This study proposes the improvement of the COMET method by using the transitivity of pairwise comparisons. Three numerical examples are used to illustrate the efficiency of the proposed improvement with respect to results from the original approach. The proposed improvement reduces significantly the number of necessary comparisons to create the matrix of expert judgment.
The Technique for Order of Preference by Similarity to Ideal Solution (TOPSIS) is a commonly used multi-criteria decision-making method. A number of authors have proposed improvements, known as extensions, of the TOPSIS method, but these extensions have not been examined with respect to accuracy. Accuracy estimation is very difficult because reference values for the obtained results are not known, therefore, the results of each extension are compared to one another. In this paper, the author propose a new method to estimate the mean error of TOPSIS with the use of a fuzzy reference model (FRM). This method provides reference values. In experiments involving 1,000 models, 28 million cases are simulated to estimate the mean error. Results of four commonly used normalization procedures were compared. Additionally, the author demonstrated the relationship between the value of the mean error and the nonlinearity of models and a number of alternatives.

In this paper, author proposes how to evaluate the nonlinearity of human multi-criteria by using fuzzy logic. In the article three potential indicators have been selected to describe level of nonlinearity. In order to obtain data, author conducted a survey on a group of 300 people. As a result, author received 300 nonlinear functional surfaces of the human, individual multi-criterion, for which the proposed indictors were calculated. Finally, it turned out that values of proposed indicators correctly identified the nonlinearity of human multi-criteria.

W niniejszym artykule, autor proponuje w jaki sposób można dokonać oceny nieliniowości ludzkich wielokryteriów decyzyjnych przy zastosowaniu logiki rozmytej. W tym celu zaproponowano trzy potencjalne wskaźniki nieliniowości. W celu zebrania danych, autor przeprowadził badanie na grupie 300 osób, w wyniku którego otrzymał 300 nieliniowych powierzchni ludzkiego wielokryterium. Następnie dla otrzymanych powierzchni zostały wyliczone proponowane wskaźniki, których wartości poprawnie zidentyfikowały nieliniowość ludzkich wielokryteriów.
In most cases, known methods of multi-criteria decision-making are used in order to make linear aggregation of human preferences. Authors of these methods seem not to take into account the fact that linear functional dependences rather rarely occur in real systems. Linear functions rather imply a global character of multi-criteria. This paper shows several examples of human nonlinear multi-criteria that are purely local. In these examples, the nonlinear approach is used based on fuzzy logic. It allows for better understanding of how important is the non-linear aggregation of human multi-criteria. The paper contains also proposal of an indicator of nonlinearity degree of the criteria. The presented results are based on investigations and experiments realized by authors.
