The development of a region depends on a number of factors. One of them is a well-functioning logistics, which in this context can be named as the logistics of the region. Due to the fact that the literature deals with the problem of logistics of regions to a small extent on the one hand, and on the other hand at the same time one of the major investments treated as an essential element of logistic system in Pomeranian Region, i.e. Pomeranian Metropolitan Railway, has been just recently completed, a great opportunity to study an impact of the element on the regional development has appeared. The results of the study show that the Pomeranian Metropolitan Railway has contributed to the liquidation of the unbalance between logistically highly developed Tricity (Gdansk, Sopot, Gdynia) and poorly developed area of Kashubian sub-region resulted mainly in better transportation access for inhabitants, as well as higher logistic service level for the Gdansk Airport.

The aim of this article is identification of the chaos main forms and their logistics implications (examples, sources, instruments). Bifurcation, intermittency and strange attractors are recognized within economics and management sciences with their logistics examples as logistics function, bull-whip effect, innovations and changes of logistics parameters. The inside and outside environment of logistics system is regarded both as a source of chaos in logistics and a source of methods for counteracting. They include management methods and tools generally accepted, especially integration and coordination

Celem niniejszego artykułu jest rozpoznanie podstawowych postaci chaosu oraz ich implikacji logistycznych (przykłady występowania, źródła, instrumentarium). W obszarze nauk ekonomicznych oraz organizacji i zarządzania identyfikuje się trzy główne postacie chaosu, tj. bifurkacje, intermitencje oraz dziwne atraktory. Do podstawowych przykładów ich występowania w logistyce zalicza się funkcję logistyczną, efekt byczego bicza, innowacje oraz nagłe zmiany parametrów systemu logistycznego. Dostrzegając źródeł chaosu w otoczeniu wewnętrznym i zewnętrznym logistyki, w nich także poszukuje się instrumentarium przeciwdziałania jego negatywnym skutkom. Zalicza się do nich ogólnie znane metody i narzędzia organizacyjno - zarządcze, a zwłaszcza służące integracji i koordynacji
