Artificial intelligence and the evolution of job market in China

Purpose: China is a country where artificial intelligence is being used on a mass scale. Demographic processes taking place in China have made production automation a requirement for Chinese industry. Artificial intelligence is increasingly replacing human resources in decision-making about production methods and techniques used in Chinese factories. Design/methodology/approach: Conducting a bibliometric review in online resources. Both in scientific publications and journalistic articles concerning the phenomena analyzed in the article. Due to the specific nature of the phenomenon analyzed, the bibliography is based on relatively recent publications. Research limitation/implications: This analysis is merely a contribution to broader research that seems necessary to understand the technological processes and related social implications currently taking place in China. This article serves as an introduction to further analyses that seem necessary to properly assess the use of artificial intelligence in the Chinese labor market. Practital implications: Artificial Intelligence should become one of many tools used in the labor market. The Chinese experience should be thoroughly analyzed in other countries, including Poland. Social implications: Artificial intelligence will be, or rather, already is, a revolution in the labor market. Like previous new technologies, it will lead to, at least temporarily, technological unemployment. Many professions will not withstand the competition from AI. Observing this process taking place in China may allow us to avoid the pitfalls inherent in the mass use of this new technology. Originality/value: Drawing on a wealth of sources, this article presents a phenomenon being studied on a large scale worldwide. China's experience, in particular, appears pioneering and original in its methods of implementing new technology.

Artykuł ma skłonić czytelników do refleksji nad celowością szybkiego wdrażania do praktyki szkoleniowej Sił Zbrojnych Rzeczypospolitej Polskiej wniosków z konfliktu rosyjsko-ukraińskiego w sytuacji, gdy on wciąż trwa i przybywa doświadczeń. Stara wojskowa maksyma mówi, że wojsko przygotowuje się do wojny, która już była. Czy kolejny konflikt militarny po rosyjsko-ukraińskim potwierdzi to twierdzenie?

This article discusses experiences and conclusions from the conflict in Ukraine regarding the conduct of defensive operations. It presents the determinants of tactical planning. Some of these could have been defined even before the conflict broke out. Modern technologies used in combat are sometimes used in unusual, even surprising ways. The article aims to encourage readers to reflect on the sense of rapid implementation of the conclusions from the Russian-Ukrainian conflict into the training practices of the Polish Armed Forces, given that it is still ongoing and experience is accumulating. According to an old military maxim, the army should prepare for a war that already occurred. Should the military conflict after the Russian- Ukrainian one confirm this?

The work presents an analysis of the selected helicoidal resonator as the end element of the air installation. Laboratory tests of the acoustic pressure level were performed at the outlet of the air installation in a room for different flow speeds. The measurement methodology in accordance to standards PN-EN ISO 3741 and PN-EN ISO 5135, which describes the acoustic test facilities, instrumentation and procedures to be used for precision grade determination of sound power levels in octave or one-third-octave bands of a noise source in reverberation test rooms. The numerical CFD tests show the shape of the air stream in the function of the distance from the installation outlet for different flow speeds. Due to the helicoidal shape of the analyzed acoustic helicoidal resonator, the air stream also turns, which can be used to effectively mix air in the room.

The technological progress of the last decades has significantly contributed to the development and innovation of several areas, such as engineering, architecture, and medicine, providing new possibilities to measure, control, simulate and assess most of the physical phenomena of the environment, and the corresponding reactions of the individuals. This has shifted the attention of researchers toward the need to understand, in depth, the mechanisms which influence the perception and well-being of humans in complex environments (e.g., cities, urban parks). In this light, it can be expected that the first-person experiences will be assumed as the new frontier of future decision-making and design processes, as they may involve representatives of local communities and groups of interest. This approach leads to a multidisciplinary integration and contamination of the scientific competencies for all research groups involved in the so-called holistic research. Overcoming the concept of noise that has dominated until the end of the last century and considering the environmental sounds as a 'resource' rather than a 'waste', with the introduction of the Soundscape approach, psychologists and sociologists have provided several tools (e.g., questionnaires, scales, tasks) to measure the perceptual, emotional, and cognitive reactions of the individuals when they are exposed to the sounds. Different multidisciplinary research groups are involved in studies that adopt, refine, or propose new investigation tools, to assess, modify and manage the sound of cities, and their effects on the satisfaction and well-being of the population. Moreover, the huge development of miniaturised and powerful hardware and software of the last decade allowed the reconstruction of audio-visual scenarios with a very high degree of realism and the possibility of interacting ecologically with the virtual environment in a fully functional immersive experience. The recent possibility to measure the physiological and neurological reactions of the individuals has opened a further road to extend the knowledge about the effects of noise and the weight of the other physical factors on the populations. A scheme of Sensory Human Experience Centres, where approaches, tools, competencies of various disciplines are integrated, is presented. These kinds of centres could represent, in future, the places where they concentrate the selection and validations of design alternatives (e.g., product, building, city and infrastructure scale) at the local and national levels.

The seeds of leadership : from the experiences of senior Malaysian women leaders

The scarcity of women holding top leadership positions in organisations not only reflects the gender equity issue, which is faced globally including Malaysia, but also indicates it as a phenomenon for the women leaders who managed to climb to the top as head of business organisations. This paper attempts to identify the ‘seeds of leadership’ that contributed towards women’s success as head of business organisations. The lived leadership journeys of seven Malaysian women from the technology, private university, manufacturing, hospitality, and legal industry were examined. A hermeneutical phenomenological approach was used, and a purposive sampling technique was carried out. In-depth interviews were utilised, and data were analysed using the Atlas.ti qualitative data analysis software. The leadership identity construction theory (LICT) was employed in this study. Early personal developmental relationships and experiences contribute as antecedents to the leadership identity construction (LIC) of the senior women leaders. These formative relationships and experiences are concluded as being the ‘seeds of leadership’ that contributed to the development of the women’s future LIC. While this study may not be generalised for profiling other women leaders in Malaysia, its novelty lies in the unique insights.

Niedobór kobiet zajmujących najwyższe stanowiska kierownicze w organizacjach nie tylko odzwierciedla problem równości płci, z którym boryka się na całym świecie, w tym Malezja, ale także wskazuje, że jest to zjawisko dla kobiet liderów, którym udało się wspiąć na szczyt jako szefowa organizacji biznesowych. W artykule podjęto próbę zidentyfikowania „zalążków przywództwa”, które przyczyniły się do sukcesu kobiet jako szefów organizacji biznesowych. Przeanalizowano życiowe podróże przywódcze siedmiu malezyjskich kobiet z branży technologicznej, prywatnego uniwersytetu, produkcji, hotelarstwa i branży prawniczej. Zastosowano hermeneutyczne podejście fenomenologiczne i zastosowano celową technikę próbkowania. Wykorzystano pogłębione wywiady, a dane przeanalizowano za pomocą oprogramowania do jakościowej analizy danych Atlas.ti. W badaniu wykorzystano teorię konstrukcji tożsamości przywódców (LICT). Wczesne relacje i doświadczenia związane z rozwojem osobistym przyczyniają się do tworzenia tożsamości przywódczej (LIC) starszych kobiet liderów. Te formujące relacje i doświadczenia są uważane za „zalążki przywództwa”, które przyczyniły się do rozwoju przyszłej LIC kobiet. Chociaż badanie to może nie być uogólnione w celu profilowania innych liderek w Malezji, jego nowość polega na unikalnych spostrzeżeniach.

Udział jednostek Wojska Polskiego w misjach poza granicami kraju stanowi doskonałe źródło informacji pozwalającej sprawdzić jak określone rozwiązania sprawdzają się w praktyce. Oczywistym jest, że kluczowe w tym są warunki w jakich zadania mandatowe są realizowane. Poprawnym podejściem jest zbieranie doświadczeń w miejscu i czasie kiedy to spotyka się najbardziej niekorzystne lub trudne warunki. Wówczas weryfikacja oddaje rzeczywisty obraz stanu posiadania zakresie realizacji zadań zabezpieczenia logistycznego. Warunki takie można było spotkać w czasie misji w Afganistanie gdzie liczebność kontyngentu była znaczna, a warunki terenowe, klimatyczne oraz oddziaływanie przeciwnika, zdecydowanie stanowiły wyzwanie dla funkcjonowania systemu logistycznego. Wnioski i doświadczenia zbierane i później wykorzystywane dotyczyły systemu logistycznego jako całości, ale również dostrzega się specyfikę doświadczeń adresowanych do konkretnych podsystemów. Ich gromadzenie, opracowywanie i późniejsze wykorzystanie może być korzystne z punktu widzenia zdolności bojowej Sił Zbrojnych Rzeczypospolitej Polskiej.

The share of Polish Army units in missions outside the country is an excellent source of information to see how specific solutions work in practice. It is obvious that the key to this are the conditions under which the military tasks are carried out. The correct approach is to collect experience in a place and at a time when it meets the most unfavorable or difficult conditions. The revision reflects the actual picture of State ownership for implementation of logistics security tasks. Such conditions can meet during a mission in Afghanistan where the multiplicity of the quota was considerable, and the terrain, climate and the impact of the enemy, definitely posed a challenge for the functioning of the logistics system. Applications and experience collected and used later focused on logistics system as a whole, but also recognizes the specificity of experience aimed at specific subsystems. Their collection, development and subsequent use may be beneficial from the point of view of the combat capacity of the armed forces of the Republic of Poland.

Zastosowane standardy i rozwiązania techniczne podczas prowadzonych inwestycji komunikacyjnych powinny być ułatwieniem dla rowerzystów jako współużytkowników dróg. Nadrzędnym celem jest zapewnienie bezpieczeństwa na drodze poprzez stosowanie zasady równoważnego rozwoju wszystkich użytkowników ruchu, w tym ruchu rowerowego w miejscach jego skumulowania i znacznego natężenia. Mając na uwadze ciągły rozwój infrastruktury rowerowej należy w pasach drogowych uwzględniać ruch rowerowy poprzez dobór prawidłowych rozwiązań technicznych oraz komfortowych nawierzchni.

Bicycle infrastructure became integral part of road right of way. Technical solutions and standards applied in construction projects should help cyclists as road co-users. General objective is to ensure road safety with applying the rule of sustainable development for all road users, including bicycle traffic in all places of its accumulation and significant intensity. Having in mind continuous development of bicycle infrastructure bicycle traffic should be taken into account in road right of ways and proper technical solutions together with comfortable pavement should be used.

W artykule omówiono uwarunkowania prawno-organizacyjne prowadzenia szkoleń dla kandydatów na kierowców kat. B. Przeprowadzono analizę procesu szkolenia skupiając się na metodach i narzędziach dedykowanych niepełnosprawnym kandydatom na kierowców. Jednym z warunków umożliwiających korzystanie z prawa do samodzielnego i aktywnego życia jest możliwość łatwego poruszania się. Dla osób z dysfunkcjami narządów ruchu i kręgosłupa zagadnienie mobilności ma szczególne znaczenie w kontekście nieskrępowanego funkcjonowania w społeczeństwie. Dotyczy to w szczególności aktywności zawodowej osób niepełnosprawnych ruchowo, bez której wyjście poza posiadane ograniczenia wydaje się najczęściej niemożliwe. Przepisy Ustawy o kierujących pojazdami z dnia 5 stycznia 2011 r. dopuszczają prowadzenie pojazdu przez osoby niepełnosprawne fizycznie, o ile uzyskają one stosowne orzeczenie lekarskie o braku przeciwwskazań zdrowotnych. Proces szkolenia kandydata na kierowcę musi zawierać wszystkie elementy, które przewidziane są w rozporządzeniu wykonawczym do ustawy. Jednakże, przy ocenie stanu psychofizycznego niepełnosprawnego kierowcy lekarz niezwykle rzadko korzysta ze wsparcia psychologa, nie ma również dostępu do wiedzy na temat możliwości adaptacyjnych pojazdów, co jest wynikiem ułomności przepisów. Tymczasem, badania psychologiczne mają za zadanie przede wszystkim edukować niepełnosprawnych kierowców, dając im wiedzę o ich sprawności psychicznej i indywidualnych mechanizmach zachowań, pobudzać do autorefleksji, wskazywać sposoby rekompensowania ewentualnych ograniczeń, wynikających z posiadanych dysfunkcji ruchowych. Możliwość poznania przez osobę niepełnosprawną ruchowo własnych deficytów psychofizycznych i metod radzenia sobie z nimi, m.in. dzięki urządzeniom dostosowującym, dodatkowym kursom doszkalającym, ma ogromne znaczenie dla bezpieczeństwa tych osób i innych uczestników ruchu drogowego. Ta wiedza miałaby również praktyczną wartość dla lekarzy orzeczników. Z pewnością przyczyniłoby się do zwiększenia mobilności osób niepełnosprawnych ruchowo w Polsce pozwalając im żyć bardziej aktywnie, również zawodowo, mimo ułomności fizycznych.

The article discusses legal and organizational conditions for conducting training of the B license driver candidates. An analysis of the training process has been carried out by focusing on methods and tools dedicated to disabled candidates for drivers. One of the conditions for exercising the right to independent and active life is the ability to move around easily. For the people with disabilities of limbs and spine, the mobility issue is of particular importance in the context of freely functioning in society. This concerns in particular the professional activity of people with physical disabilities, without which overcoming the limits possessed seems, most often to be impossible. Provisions of the Act on driving vehicles, of the 5 January 2011, permit the persons with physical disabilities to drive a vehicle, as long as they obtain the relevant medical certificate stating the absence of health counter indications. The process of training the trainee driver must contain all the elements that are provided in the implementing regulation to the Act. However, in assessing the psycho-physical condition of the disabled driver doctors rarely resort to support of the psychologist. There is also no access to the knowledge about the adaptability of vehicles as a result of imperfect legislation. Meanwhile, psychological tests are designed primarily to educate disabled drivers, giving them knowledge about their mental fitness and individual mechanisms of behaviour, stimulate self-reflection, and identify ways to compensate for any limitations in existing physical dysfunction. The opportunity to learn by physically disabled person's his own psycho-physical deficits and methods to deal with them, among the others, thanks to the adapting devices, additional continuing education courses, is of great importance for the safety of these persons and other road users. This knowledge would also be of practical value to the medical examiners. It would certainly contribute to increasing mobility of persons with physical disabilities in Poland, allowing them to live more actively, also professionally, despite physical disabilities.

Postęp technologiczny oraz uczestnictwo w operacjach reagowania kryzysowego to czynniki, które w ostatnich latach w wielu państwach wpłynęły na koncepcje i organizację wojskowego szkolenia lotniczego. I choć szkolenie nadal jest prowadzone w sposób etapowy oraz specjalizowany dla poszczególnych rodzajów lotnictwa i statków powietrznych, to zaawansowanie technologiczne bojowych statków powietrznych wymusza udoskonalanie systemu szkolenia personelu latającego oraz wykorzystywanego sprzętu. Cyfryzacja w lotnictwie szkolnym dotyczy także symulatorów i rozwiązań sieciowych. Ważna staje się ekonomiczność szkolenia personelu latającego. Próby zoptymalizowania kosztów szkolenia prowadzą do jego internacjonalizacji oraz stosowania rozwiązań partnerstwa publiczno-prywatnego. Z doświadczenia innych państw może skorzystać Polska. W najbliższych latach polskie lotnictwo wojskowe otrzyma nowe śmigłowce, bezzałogowe systemy powietrzne oraz samoloty szkolenia zaawansowanego. Generacyjna wymiana statków powietrznych w lotnictwie wojskowym jest dobrą okazją do krytycznej oceny doświadczeń innych państw oraz doskonalenia szkolenia personelu latającego Sił Zbrojnych RP.

Technological progress and participation in crisis response operations are factors which in the recent years in many countries have affected the concept and organization of military air training. Although the training is still divided into phases, and tailored to specific aviation specializations and aircraft, technological advancement of combat aircraft enforces the improvement of training system for flying personnel and used equipment. Digitalization in aviation training is related to simulators and network solutions. The thriftiness in aviation training is also becoming important, and the attempts to optimize training cost lead to internationalization and solutions of public-private partnerships. The experience of other countries can be of use in Poland. In the upcoming years, Polish military aviation will receive new helicopters, unmanned aerial vehicles and advanced training aircraft. The generational exchange of aircraft in military aviation is a good reason for any critical assessment of the experience of others, and for improvement of flying personnel training in the Polish Armed Forces.

In the paper, the numerical model of the flow phenomena in the flotation machine is presented. The process of flotation consists of a number of phenomena which provide serious numerical difficulties. One can enumerate rotation, two phase flow, foam formation etc. To the knowledge of authors there is no complete numerical model available for the flotation machine. The long-term task of the project is to create a complete model of the machine. Such a model would be very helpful in the process of construction and modernization of the flotation machine. As it was mentioned, due to difficulties connected with modelling the flotation phenomena, only a few aspects of the process were taken under consideration. In the paper, a single phase flow of water is considered. The efficiency of the flotation process strongly depends on the fluid flow field in the machine. The level of mixing the fractions and air bubbles strongly depends on the velocity field of the water, so the proper model of fluid flow is of great practical importance. This paper presents preliminary results of mathematical modelling. The commercial package ANSYS Fluent was utilized for the analysis. The results were compared with the measurements performed on the small scale model of the machine. Obtained results are satisfying and encouraging for further development.

The paper summarises the results of laboratory testing of three commercially available magnetorheological (MR) fluids operated in the oscillatory squeeze mode. Tested fluids include the Basonetic 204 and Basonetic 4035 (BASF) and MRF-122EG (Lord Corporation). The oscillatory squeeze mode produces large forces at small displacements. This feature may be well utilised in fabrication of new MR de-vices. The purpose of the experiments was to evaluate the suitability of MR fluids for applications in MR vibration dampers being devel-oped under the current research project. The results enable a comparative analysis of investigated fluids and verification of phenomena encountered in the oscillatory squeeze mode and reported in the literature.

Electrical generators for today's Small Hydropower Plants (SHP) are designer for a constant rotation speed. Changes of energy provided by water depend on water flow, which is very unreliable for small rivers. Therefore, full efficiency can be achieved for power technology with generators working at a variable speed. This paper presents a concept of a energy conversion system optimization for application in a SHP which is based on a permanent magnet (PM) generators with a propeller turbine integrated with the generator rotors. These PM generators can work at a variable speed and therefore energy produced by the PM generators have to be converted by means of a power electronic unit to fit to the three-phase power grid parameters. The elements of such SHP are described. Due to non-linear turbine characteristics it is necessary to formulate a suitable control algorithm for the whole system of energy conversion therefore the control system principles for optimal power production and hydro-set operation in stable way are discussed.

Each machine goes through four phases of its existence: construction, manufacture, operation and disposal. Each stage requires relevant diagnostics. For the purpose of management of owned machine, it is useful to divide them into 3 groups in terms of their importance: critical machines; quasi-critical machines; and auxiliary machines. It is also advisable to adopt the principle that critical machines should be subject to continuous on-line monitoring. Monitoring systems should involve systems that can simultaneously carry out measurements at all defined measurement channels at one time with current updates. Defects in operation of machine units using such systems are detected almost immediately. The article presents examples based on own research.

Konsultacje społeczne są obecnie stałym elementem procedur Generalnej Dyrekcji Dróg Krajowych i Autostrad w procesie przygotowania inwestycji drogowych, w jego poszczególnych fazach. Ocena konsultacji społecznych przy projektowaniu obwodnic wykazała, że przyciągają coraz więcej obywateli i organizacji społecznych, oraz że ujawniają coraz więcej konfliktów. Bardzo istotne są profesjonalizm i bezstronność organizatorów konsultacji.

Presently, public consultation is permanent element in procedures of General Directorate for National Roads and Motorways within preparatory activities of road investment process, in its particular phases. Public consultation evaluation in by-passes design showed that they attract more and more citizens and public organisations and they disclose more and more conflicts. Professionalism and impartiality of public consultation moderators are very significant.
