This article presents a comparison of the rheological properties of lubricating fluids and an investigation of their effect on energy consumption during the operation of the transverse bearings of a ship’s propeller shaft. Two testing procedures were carried out. In the first part, an analysis of histograms generated from measurements on an Anton Paar GmbH DV-1P rotational viscometer with coaxial cylinders was performed, enabling the investigation of thixotropic behavior. In the second part, tests were conducted according to standards and an energy parameter related to the specific work of wear of the test material was determined. The test material consisted of steel bearing balls immersed in the lubricant under study and forming part of the friction assembly on a T-02 four-ball tester produced by the Institute of Technology of Operation in Radom. The proposed parameter characterizes the amount of frictional work required to remove material from the surface of the steel balls under a given load, expressed in Nm. The determined specific wear work serves as an integral energy parameter whose value can be used to assess the tribological properties of lubricants.

The availability of public transport is one of the most important strategic goals of transport companies in terms of mobility, quality, safety, and environmental sustainability. Satisfying customer requirements for mobility and sustainability, while also achieving an acceptable level of environmental protection and quality of life, is the main goal of public transport. The breakdown of public transport vehicles represents a fundamental barrier to meeting the goals of public transport sustainability. The main goal of the article is to optimize the maintenance process in a transport company in Slovakia with an orientation to cost reduction from the perspective of the ineffective maintenance process. An important role in the elimination of faults is played by the maintenance process of public transport vehicles and the setting of a maintenance strategy in terms of minimizing costs and the number of vehicle faults. The results of economic analyses pointed to increasing costs for the maintenance process, increasing vehicle kilometers, increasing maintenance costs per vehicle kilometer, and increasing spare parts costs for public transport vehicles. Improving the economic and technical parameters of public transport vehicles makes it possible to increase the overall performance of the transport company in Slovakia. The proactive maintenance enriched with autonomous and predictive elements creates the basis for maintenance strategy in public transport with environmental, social, and economic sustainability.

This study presents a comparative analysis of three PHP frameworks: CodeIgniter, Yii, and CakePHP, focusing on performance, reliability, resource efficiency, stability, and community support. Three identical applications performing CRUD (Create, Read, Update, Delete) operations on a database were developed for testing. The evaluation metrics included request handling speed, CPU and memory usage, error rates under varying workloads (10 to 16,000 virtual users), and framework popularity within the developer community. Experiments were conducted using Apache JMeter and PerfMon in a controlled testing environment. The results indicate that CodeIgniter outperformed Yii and CakePHP in most scenarios, demonstrating the lowest memory consumption, fastest response times, and greater stability under high concurrency. Its lack of an ORM (Obje ct-Relational Mapping), replaced by a procedural QueryBuilder, contributed to this performance advantage. By contrast, Yii and CakePHP, which rely on ORM, required more resources and showed greater CPU instability, particularly under heavy load.

W ramach niniejszej pracy przeprowadzono analizę porównawczą trzech frameworków PHP: CodeIgniter, Yii i CakePHP, koncentrując się na wydajności, niezawodności, efektywności wykorzystania zasobów, stabilności i wsparciu społeczności. Na potrzeby badania przygotowano trzy identyczne aplikacje wykonujące operacje CRUD (Create, Read, Update, Delete) na bazie danych. Do porównań wykorzystano następujące metryki: szybkość obsługi żądań, zużycie procesora/pamięci, wskaźnik liczby błędów dla różnych obciążeń (od 10 do 16000 żądań) oraz popularność frameworków wśród społeczności programistów. Badania przeprowadzono za pomocą narzędzi Apache JMeter i PerfMon w kontrolowanym środowisku testowym. Kluczowe ustalenia wskazują, że CodeIgniter przewyższył Yii i CakePHP w większości scenariuszy, demonstrując najniższe zużycie pamięci, najszybszy czas odpowiedzi i lepszą stabilność przy dużej współbieżności. Brak ORM (Object-Relational Mapping) w CodeIgniter, zastąpiony proceduralnym QueryBuilderem, przyczynił się do jego większej wydajności. Z kolei Yii i CakePHP, polegające na ORM, potrzebowały więcej zasobów i wykazywały się większą niestabilnością pracy procesora, szczególnie w warunkach dużego obciążenia.

Integration of product lifecycle management systems with supply chain management processes has proven challenging for companies that attempt it, with limited empirical research available on this topic. Consequently, this study aimed to explore whether implementing product lifecycle management systems can enhance supply chain management within an organisation. To obtain relevant data, this study employed a single qualitative case study design, using in-depth semi-structured interviews and on-site observations conducted at ABC TECH to examine how Sovelia PLM supports supply chain processes. The data was collected from a company in Northern Europe that uses Sovelia lifecycle management software. Findings showed that this software generally aids in enhancing supply chain process integration, traceability, and structure. However, it is design-centric, which makes it more difficult to adequately address the supply chain management department’s operational requirements. These insights may enhance the decision-making processes and guide actionable strategies for seamless integration. The findings call for a more holistic product lifecycle management system that encapsulates both design and supply chain functionalities, thereby ensuring cohesive operations and improved communication within the company’s supply chain network.

Równocześnie Bosch Rexroth wzbogacił swoją ofertę pomp obsługujących platformę eOC o pompę tłokową osiową A10VO/60, co rozszerzy zastosowanie tej platformy na urządzenia średniociśnieniowe z ciśnieniem nominalnym do 280 barów (maksymalnym 320 barów).

According to Delegated Regulation (EU) 2015/68, the braking performance of agricultural vehicles is determined through road tests. Trailer braking performance is evaluated based on either the braking of the entire combination with coupling force measurement or the trailer's individual braking. In the first case, the combination's braking performance is influenced by driver behaviour and transient processes within the tractor and trailer braking systems (e.g., pressure values and pneumatic lag). The same applies when trailer brakes are engaged using a handbrake valve. To reduce the impact of random factors, an innovative device has been developed that simulates the tractor's pneumatic control system, allowing the trailer to brake independently of the tractor. Along with other measuring devices, this simulator forms the measuring and diagnostic system created by the authors for roadside vehicle testing. The simulator enhances the accuracy and repeatability of measurements. Sample results from road tests of a prototype trailer and tractor are included.

This study is focused on a comprehensive examination of the phenomenon of artivism (the synthesis of art and activism) as a powerful communication tool and driving force for social change in the modern world. The evolution of artivism from the avant-garde movements of the 20th century to the latest practices, such as street art, performance art, and digital art, is traced. Its essence is defined as a synthesis of aesthetic expression and social action aimed at understanding social problems, fostering critical thinking, and stimulating change. The main characteristics of artivism are outlined: creativity, interactivity, publicity, and the ability to influence social consciousness. Examples of artistic practices and international projects that affirm art as a tool for civic education and cultural sustainability are provided. It is proven that artivism is an essential sociocultural phenomenon capable of forming new models of interaction between art and society.

Badanie poświęcone jest kompleksowej analizie fenomenu artywizmu (syntezy sztuki i aktywizmu) jako potężnego narzędzia komunikacyjnego i siły napędowej przemian społecznych we współczesnym świecie. Prześledzono ewolucję artywizmu od awangardowych nurtów XX wieku do najnowszych praktyk, takich jak street art, performance i sztuka cyfrowa. Określono jego istotę jako syntezę wypowiedzi estetycznej i działania społecznego, ukierunkowanego na refleksję nad problemami społecznymi, kształtowanie krytycznego myślenia i stymulowanie zmian. Nakreślono główne cechy artywizmu – kreatywność, interaktywność, publiczny charakter oraz zdolność do wpływania na świadomość społeczną. Przedstawiono przykłady praktyk artystycznych, a także międzynarodowych projektów, które utwierdzają sztukę jako narzędzie edukacji obywatelskiej i odporności kulturowej. Udowodniono, że artywizm jest ważnym zjawiskiem socjokulturowym, zdolnym do tworzenia nowych modeli interakcji między sztuką a społeczeństwem.

The article examines a range of selected factors that may influence the job performance of air traffic controllers (ATCos). The chosen factors were analyzed from the perspective of ATCos in their current state, as established by the organization, and how their present significance is perceived in relation to work performance and what would be the significance of these factors if the factors reached optimal level according to the ATCos. The main research question posed was: What significance do ATCos attribute to the factors affecting their work performance in the current state, and what would be the significance of these factors if they reached their optimal level according to the ATCos? The goal was to determine the impact of organization and factors that organization can influence and change ATCos performance. It was found that while financial and non-financial compensation factors are perceived as important, factors such as work style, workplace relationships, and workload have a greater impact on performance. The largest difference between current and ideal conditions was observed in workload, indicating that optimizing it could significantly enhance work performance.

Content available ESG: the new currency of brand value

Purpose: This study aims to assess the impact of ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance) performance on the determination of brand value, considering both its aggregate influence and the effects of its individual subdimensions. Design/methodology/approach: The hypothesis that environmental, social, and governance practices enhance brand value is tested. The study uses regression and correlation analyses to evaluate the relationship between Brandfinance Global 500 brand values, S&P Global ESG scores, financial variables, and enterprise value over the period 2013-2023. Findings: The results of multiple regression analyses indicate that assets and enterprise value positively influence brand value, while, contrary to expectations, the overall ESG score exerts a negative effect. The analysis of ESG subdimensions reveals varying impacts: the environmental dimension positively correlates with brand value, the governance dimension exhibits a negative relationship, and the social dimension shows no statistically significant relationship. Practical implications: The findings emphasize the need for a more nuanced and critical approach to ESG evaluation. Stakeholders should focus on the quality and authenticity of ESG practices, rather than simply relying on aggregate scores. This research encourages a shift towards a more sustainable and responsible business environment. Social implications: he research highlights the disconnect between perceived ESG performance and actual brand value, raising concerns about the authenticity and effectiveness of current ESG practices. This has far-reaching social implications, impacting investor behavior, corporate governance, consumer expectations, and regulatory policies. Originality/value: This study is expected to add to the scarce research that examines the connection between brand value and ESG performance. By elucidating the relationships within the brand value-firm value-ESG score framework, the findings are expected to significantly influence the strategic decisions of corporate, brand and financial managers.

The aim of this article is to analyse the impact of the KPI (Key Performance Indicators) system on employee motivation in terms of developing competences and improving work effectiveness. The research was conducted on a sample of 114 employees using a questionnaire based on a Likert scale. The one-factor ANOVA technique was used to analyse the results. The results clearly showed that high awareness of the role of the KPI system, regular feedback, knowledge of goals and appropriate support and resources have a significant impact on the level of employee motivation to develop their own skills and improve work performance. The article discusses both theoretical aspects and practical implications of the results that can constitute a basis for improving the quality of management based on KPI indicators in a ship management company.

In this paper, the author reflects on the performance and moral dilemmas correlated with modes of operation in unarmed combat in defence against physical aggression. Based on empirical data, the author demonstrates differences in defensive actions depending on causal factors such as the orientation of aggression (the respondent, a bystander) and biological characteristics, as well as personal predispositions and professional experiences of the respondents. The author concludes by stating that the morality of defensive actions is determined to the highest degree by the orientation of aggression. A much greater proportion of the respondents declared that they would take defensive actions considered as commendable in a situation of personal threat than in the case of a threat to a stranger.

Sprawnościowo-moralne dylematy obrony przed agresją fizyczną – weryfikacja empiryczna Autor w niniejszym tekście prowadzi rozważania dotyczące dylematów sprawnościowo-moralnych skorelowanych ze sposobami działań w walce niezbrojnej, w obronie przed agresją fizyczną. Na podstawie danych empirycznych wskazuje różnice w obronnych działaniach zależnych od czynników sprawczych, takich jak ukierunkowanie agresji (respondent, osoba postronna) oraz cech biologicznych, ale także osobowych predyspozycji i doświadczeń zawodowych respondentów. W konkluzji artykułu autor stwierdza, że moralność działań obronnych w najwyższym stopniu determinowana jest ukierunkowaniem agresji. Respondenci proporcjonalnie znacznie liczniej deklarowali działania obronne zaliczane do chwalebnych w sytuacji zagrożenia osobistego niż zagrożenia obcej dla nich osoby.

Principal component analysis, being one of the best techniques for dimensionality reduction, is implemented by using one of the two high-accuracy algorithms: the singular value decomposition (SVD) and eigenvalue decomposition (EVD). The EVD is generally faster than the SVD, except for datasets with fewer observations or when the observation has fewer features. Apart from cases of shallower datasets consisting of just a few hundred double-precision observations, the EVD speeds up computing principal components by at least 4.5%, whereas the average speedup in 45% widely varies from 12% to 92%. The speedup on non-shallower single-precision datasets is roughly similar, but it nonetheless makes no sense due to EVD poor accuracy while operating on numeric data with single precision. The EVD is efficient if the dataset consists of no fewer than a few hundred observations (objects) having at least three double-precision features.

W artykule przedstawiono wyniki badań wydajności mikrokontrolera Raspberry Pi Pico 2. Uwagę badań skupiono na rdzeniu RISC -V, gdyż jest on jedną z większych nowości w porównaniu do poprzedniego modelu mikrokontrolera. Dodatkowo, przeprowadzone badania rynku sugerują, że w najbliższych latach ten typ rdzenia będzie coraz częściej implementowany w rozwiązaniach komercyjnych. Płytka ewaluacyjna Raspberry Pi Pico 2 została wyposażona w nowoczesny układ RP2350, który na tle konkurencji wyróżnia się hybrydową architekturą – zastosowano w nim zarówno rdzenie ARM , jak i RISC -V. Takie rozwiązanie zapewnia wsteczną kompatybilność z poprzednią wersją układu, a jednocześnie otwiera możliwości lepszego dostosowania oprogramowania do specyficznych wymagań systemu. W ramach przeprowadzonych badań zaprojektowano system, który realizuje filtrację cyfrową sygnału PPG. Przygotowany system testujący mierzy czas wykonania tej operacji, a następnie przesyła wyniki do komputera PC za pomocą interfejsu UART , celem ewentualnego dalszego ich przetwarzania. Oprogramowanie MATLAB wykorzystano do zaprojektowania odpowiedniego filtru oraz wygenerowania bloku filtracji cyfrowej. W artykule zaprezentowano uzyskane wyniki badań testowych. Dokonano również porównania otrzymanych wyników z oprogramowaniem MATLAB w celu weryfikacji poprawności działania systemu bazującego na układzie RP2350.

The article presents the results of performance testing of the Raspberry Pi Pico 2 microcontroller. The attention of the study was focused on the RISC -V core, as it is one of the biggest innovations compared to the previous model of the microcontroller. In addition, market research suggests that this type of core will be increasingly implemented in commercial solutions in the coming years. The Raspberry Pi Pico 2 evaluation board is equipped with the advanced RP2350 chip, which stands out from the competition with its hybrid architecture - it uses both ARM and RISC -V cores. Such a solution ensures backward compatibility with the previous version of the chip, while at the same time opening up possibilities for better customization of the software to meet the specific requirements of the system. As part of the research conducted, a system was designed that performs digital filtering of the PPG signal. The prepared test system measures the execution time of this operation, and then sends the results to a PC via UART interface for possible further processing. MATLAB software was used to design a proper filter and generate a digital filtering block. The article presents the results obtained from the test studies. A comparison with MATLAB software was also made to verify the correctness of the system based on the RP2350 chip.

A dynamic business environment presents a high degree of uncertainty for the evolving world. This calls for new business practices. Organisations’ supply chain management must address disruptions and uncertainties arising from globalisation. The study’s major objectives were to understand the role of supply chain practices in moderating the influence of supply chain disruptions on supply chain performance and environmental uncertainty on supply chain performance. This research is set in the context of two South Indian states, which account for 94% of India’s coir manufacturing and export. Partial least squares-based structural equation modelling was used to test the hypotheses in the work. The moderating effect of supply chain practice on the relationship between environmental uncertainty, supply chain disruptions, and supply chain performance has not been confirmed. Hence, this finding calls for adopting disruption-resilient practices in the supply chain management by organisations to stay competitive in an evolving world and an environment of uncertainty.

E-work has become increasingly widespread, but it is not accessible to all. Existing research highlights how the remote setting influences individual productivity but the question remains whether workforce is more or less productive remotely or at work. Therefore, this research study aims to examine o-workers’ vs. e-workers’ perceptions of job performance in the post-Covid era on the basis of research done during the pandemic. A quasi-experimental design was used in this study of two groups working on the same project for the Czech and Slovak markets from calendar week 1 of 2024 to calendar week 13 (01.01.2024 to 31.03.2024). The authors created macros in Excel for the self-assessment reports (using the De Menezes and De Paula Xavier’s instrument) to track the job-performance of employees. Eleven hypotheses were tested using Pearson’s chi-square test of independence; 10 (H1-H10) of the 11 hypotheses were confirmed. According to the data, e-work enables mutual matching between employees and firms, which boosts labour productivity. Working at the home premises produces a better turnaround on projects and increases productivity. E-work can be a more productive work environment compared to o-working, because it can lead to focusing on practices that promote well-being and help employees thrive wherever the work is critical.

This paper discusses the advantages of introducing Hermetia illucens (maggot) larvae to the ducks’ diet in integrated rice-duck farming, with and without Azolla. This study was carried out in South Sulawesi, Indonesia, using a factorial experiment based on a completely randomised design with three replications. The first factor was the Azolla and maggot combination package with four levels: D1 (-Azolla, -maggot), D2 (+Azolla, -maggot), D3 (-Azolla, +maggot), D4 (+Azolla, +maggot). The second factor was duck stocking density at two levels, K1 (3 ducks per 10 m2), K2 (5 ducks per 10 m2). Ducks were introduced between 28 and 56 days after rice planting. The parameters observed were rice production (number of panicles, grain number per panicle, and rice yield) and duck performance (body weights, weight gain, feed intake and feed conversion). The use of ducks in rice plantations at density of five ducks per 10 m2 increased rice production, improved rice yield by 4.89 kg∙(10 m2)-1 and number of panicles compared to the density of three ducks per the same area. The D2 combination resulted in a lower feed conversion ratio, indicating the increased duck body weight by an average of 1,029.13 g per duck and weight gain compared to other treatments. The rice-duck production economic outcomes showed that maintaining five ducks per 10 m2 under the D4 treatment best optimised income per unit area and operational cost efficiency, reflected in the most favourable revenue-cost ratio among all treatments. This study presents a potential alternative to enhance land productivity and profitability in integrated rice and duck farming.

Bioethanol wastewater contains complex inorganic and organic ions, posing a severe environmental problem. In this research, the removal of nitrate ion (NO3) from bioethanol wastewater was conducted using ammonium polymers as adsorbents. Ammonium polymer was synthesized using the one-pot approach method using functional monomer with single thermal. This study aimed to analyze the performance of an ammonium polymer for removing nitrate ions (NO3-) from bioethanol waste, considering operational parameters (polymer mass, temperature, and contact time) by advanced characterization technique and determine the isotherm model for predicting adsorption behavior. The results of FTIR revealed significant functional groups, including N-H and C-N. SEM-EDX confirmed the effectiveness of adsorption by identifying each component, and elemental analysis confirmed the percentages of C, H, and N in the adsorbent. The optimal conditions for the adsorption process were achieved when 0.1 g of ammonium polymer was in contact with bioethanol wastewater for 60 minutes at 40 °C with a removal efficiency of 96.32% and an adsorption capacity of 0.58 mg/g. The adsorption isotherm analysis followed the Temkin model.

The paper presents research on the time performance of each language when performing operations on the CPU (central processing unit) and GPU (graphics processing unit). This article should be considered as a coherent continuation of the first part [18]. The paper has been divided due to existing editorial criteria. The work includes descriptions of the technologies used and the algorithms that served the research purposes. Algorithms prepared with care to maintain equal use of functions by both programming languages based on block diagrams and pseudocode are presented. The paper first presents the research carried out on the basis of sorting algorithms implemented by the Author and executed on the processor. The next part of the paper presents research verifying the performance of Julia and Python programming languages on graphics cards, with a special focus on the implementation of matrix operations. The article is concluded with a discussion of the time performance of each programming language.

W pracy przedstawione zostały badania nad wydajnością czasową każdego z języków podczas wykonywania operacji na CPU (jednostce centralnej) i GPU (jednostce przetwarzania grafiki). Artykuł ten należy traktować jako spójną kontynuację części pierwszej [18]. Praca została podzielona ze względu na kryteria redakcyjne. Artykuł zawiera opisy wykorzystanych technologii oraz algorytmów, które posłużyły celom badawczym. Przedstawione zostały algorytmy przygotowane z dbałością o zachowanie jednakowego wykorzystania funkcji przez oba języki programowania na podstawie schematów blokowych oraz pseudokodów. W pracy najpierw wskazano badania przeprowadzone na podstawie algorytmów sortowania zaimplementowanych przez autora i wykonanych przez procesor. W kolejnej części artykułu znalazły się badania weryfikujące wydajność języków programowania Julia i Python na kartach graficznych, ze szczególnym uwzględnieniem implementacji operacji macierzowych. Artykuł został zakończony omówieniem wydajności czasowych każdego języka programowania.

This work compares and studies the performance and emissions of a single-cylinder diesel engine fuelled by diesel and blends of a fuel derived from used industrial oil. Tiska 48 used industrial oil is used as raw material. By transesterification of this oil, biodiesels were created and combined with diesel in proportions of 15%, 30% and 45%. Diesel engine emissions, performance, and combustion were calculated at a nominal speed of 1600 rpm and load variation. The procedure and experimental design for extracting the new fuel by transesterification are described in detail. The first part of the study focused on the identification and physicochemical characterization of the fuels in order to establish selection criteria for direct use on an engine test bench. The characteristics studied were liquid density, kinematic viscosity, dynamic liquid viscosity, acid number and flash point. A set of three mixing ratios was selected for fuel synthesis. The second part was devoted to bench tests carried out on a Kipor 178F diesel engine. Synthetic fuels were tested with 15%, 30% and 45% BT 68 fuel blends. A comparative study was carried out, highlighting engine performance and NOx, CO, BFCS and EGT emissions for each fuel used. Blending pure diesel with synthetic fuel reduced carbon monoxide and NOx emissions by 85% and 65%, respectively. The BFCS of the biodiesel combinations is in perfect agreement with that of pure diesel but slightly higher (around 9.12%) overall.

The presented article describes the changes over the past quarter-century in the design and performance of micro-class gas turbine engines. The primary goal is to determine the current stage of development in engine construction. To achieve this, a representative group of 83 micro-class engines was selected and categorized based on the date they were introduced into operation. The main performance criterion was the engine's thrust, as these engines are primarily used in short-lifespan unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). A rotational performance characteristic was identified for a family of engines grouped into three geometric series. These characteristics are presented in relative parameters, facilitating convenient implementation in UAV design. A new trend in fanjet engine construction was identified, where thrust generation is primarily driven by the mass flow of the working medium passing through the engine duct. This is observed in modern engines with thrust exceeding 20 daN. It was demonstrated that, while maintaining the same external dimensions, a contemporary engine can deliver three times the thrust of a similar engine designed at the beginning of the 21st century.
