Indonesia faces severe forest and land fires that have a widespread impact on public health, the environment, and the economy. Early warning and detection of fire hotspots is crucial to prevent and mitigate the effects in any aspect. This research aims to analyze data from the Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) and then analyze it with a convolutional neural network (CNN). The methodology of research includes extracting fire data based on location detected, preprocessing of data to improve the quality of images, and labelling of image data referring to the incident event and location. MODIS data is used in this analysis to check the quality of images to be processed. MODIS images are used because of their high temporal, wide spatial coverage, and almost continuous availability in the Indonesian region, especially in Sumatra. The CNN algorithm was applied to the data analysis to work with sample data, then tested with testing data. To validate the data against ground data captured by the data collector and sampling data obtained from the Indonesian fire report. Results report that the CNN algorithm can analyze the MODIS data with high accuracy, more than 90% compared to the normal method. The system, as well as the mentioned number of fire hotspots in the year 2022 and 2023, then predicts events in the years 2024 and 2025. The proposed system aims to improve the support decision by authorities and contribute to sustainable land and forest fire mitigation in Indonesia, as well as improve the efficiency of forest fire warning. Future work is to increase the region to detect and forecast the state in Indonesia.

This study aimed to evaluate the feasibility of identifying the type of imaging device based on its digital images using machine learning methods. The research methodology involved preparing a dataset of photographs captured with two mobile devices, splitting the original-resolution images into smaller square patches, and developing two convolutional neural network-based classification models with transfer learning. The models were trained and tested on disjoint subsets of the dataset, and their performance was assessed based on the resulting classification results. The experimental findings confirm that the proposed approach enables effective identification of imaging devices from digital images, achieving very high classification accuracy, with the patch-based image representation contributing significantly over simple downscaling. The results indicate that the proposed method is promising for digital image forensics and automatic source-device attribution; however, they should be interpreted as evidence of feasibility under constrained conditions rather than as validation of a practically deployable forensic tool.

The task of underwater acoustic target recognition has significant value for both military and civilian applications involving complex marine environments. However, traditional methods often struggle to achieve robust performance due to strong noise interference, weak target signals, and insufficient complementarity among the different features. This paper therefore proposes a deep learning recognition framework based on multimodal spectrogram features, in which short-time Fourier transform magnitude spectra, mel-spectrograms, and continuous wavelet transform spectrograms are used as multi-branch inputs, and a heterogeneous convolutional neural network is employed to extract time-frequency feature representations from each modality. Tailored multi-scale convolutional kernels are designed according to the characteristics of the different features, thereby effectively capturing the energy textures, envelope characteristics, and multi-scale structural information. At the fusion stage, a structure-dependent fusion strategy selection method is introduced, which enables the optimal integration of multi-branch features through inverse-variance weighting. Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed method achieves an accuracy of 97.60% in underwater acoustic target recognition tasks, significantly outperforming single-modality and homogeneous multi-branch models, a finding that validates the effectiveness of the proposed heterogeneous multibranch architecture and its adaptive fusion strategy.

The use of artificial intelligence (AI) has significantly advanced emotion recognition within human-computer interaction (HCI). This paper aims to develop a multimodal emotion detection system for educational and work environments using an enhanced AI machine vision system. The primary focus is on training and testing a multimodal AI model in Python using convolutional neural networks (CNN). The results from the trained facial emotion AI model demonstrated substantial improvements. Training accuracy increased from 30.49% to 72.21%, while validation accuracy improved from 37.6% to 60.58%. Simultaneously, training loss decreased from 180.69% to 73.65%, and validation loss reduced from 172.97% to 107.53%. This CNN-based model can use OpenCV to detect seven emotions: happy, sad, neutral, angry, afraid, disgusted, and surprised. The ECG emotion AI model, also trained with CNN, also successfully recognized patterns for the same seven emotions. When these two models are combined into a multimodal AI system, they can detect facial and ECG-based emotions simultaneously. This comprehensive approach allows for the detection of both visible and hidden emotions, such as stress or anxiety, which may not be easily discernible through facial expressions alone. The integration of these models into a multimodal AI system provides a more accurate and holistic understanding of human emotions, enhancing applications in educational and work settings. The improved detection capabilities can lead to better user experiences and more effective responses to emotional states, ultimately contributing to advancements in HCI.

Wind turbine gearboxes face alternating loads and complex noise over prolonged operation, leading to vibration signals affected by noise, nonlinearity, and non-stationarity. These challenges complicate fault diagnosis. This study proposes a novel approach, combining a modified whale optimization algorithm (GSWOA) to optimize variational mode decomposition (VMD) parameters and an improved refined composite multiscale sample entropy (IRCMSE) method. The approach enhances VMD decomposition, mitigating mode mixing and boundary artifacts. An advanced coarse-graining process generates IRCMSE-based features, improving sensitivity to weak fault signatures. These features are fed into a CNN-BiLSTM model, leveraging CNN for spatial feature extraction and BiLSTM for temporal behavior modeling, enabling precise fault classification. Experiments on the WFD-1000 wind turbine gearbox platform show superior performance in signal reconstruction, feature discrimination, and fault detection, highlighting the method’s robustness under complex operational conditions.

With the rapid expansion of the smart grid scale and the increasing complexity of its topological structure, traditional fault diagnosis and recovery methods have exposed significant limitations in multimodal time series data processing, anti-noise interference, and dynamic adaptability. However, most of the existing deep learning (DL) studies only combine the autoencoder (AE) and the convolutional neural network (CNN) serially; a bidirectional feature interaction mechanism has not been established, resulting in the loss of key fault features in the transmission process. Compared with the hybrid model using CNN-Recurrent Neural Network (RNN) or attention mechanisms, the innovation of this study is to introduce the learnable bidirectional feature interaction and dynamic weight allocation in the AE-CNN architecture for the first time, rather than simple feature concatenation or serial transfer. At the same time, most existing methods stop at fault diagnosis and do not form a full-process closed loop of diagnosis and recovery. Based on this, the study proposes a deep fusion network, which solves the above problems from the structural design and mathematical mechanism. Based on this, the study proposes a deep learning fusion network (DLFN) that integrates a stacked sparse autoencoder (SSAE) and a CNN. This fusion network innovatively introduces a feature interaction mechanism; it breaks the oneway feature transfer mode of the traditional hybrid model, solving the problem of key fault feature loss caused by the independent operation and lack of feature interaction between SSAE/AE and CNN. Meanwhile, the study proposes a dynamic recovery strategy generation method based on data reconstruction and secondary status judgment. The reconstruction of missing/noisy data is accomplished through SSAE, and the real-time optimization of the recovery path is achieved by combining the secondary judgment of fault status by CNN. Experimental results show that the proposed model's fault diagnosis accuracy is 7.3% higher than that of the traditional CNN; this fully meets the real-time requirements of power systems. Even under the strong noise interference of 5 decibels (dB), the diagnostic accuracy rate is still 12.6% to 29.2%, exceeding the comparison models. In the fault recovery stage, the matching degree between the strategy generated by the model and the expert scheme reaches 94.4%. At the same time, the average recovery time is 37.6% shorter than the traditional method. The core contribution of this study lies in constructing an end-to-end integrated diagnosis-recovery framework; this solves the problem of feature transmission interruption in traditional hybrid models. The study proposes a noise-resistant dynamic recovery strategy mechanism that improves the adaptability to complex power grid scenarios; it also provides a technically feasible path for the engineering application of DL in the field of power system fault diagnosis and recovery. Moreover, it provides new ideas and methods for the model design of intelligent fault diagnosis throughout the power system process; this has significant practical significance for promoting the intelligent and efficient development of fault diagnosis in smart grids.

Hand gesture recognition based on surface electromyographic (sEMG) signals plays a critical role in modern human–computer interaction systems, particularly in upper limb prosthetic applications. This study presents a method for classifying six selected hand gestures using sEMG signals acquired from three forearm muscles. The recorded signals were digitally filtered, and an automatic segmentation algorithm was developed to isolate individual gestures from the continuous muscle activity recordings. These segments were transformed into spectrograms using the short-time Fourier transform (STFT), which served as input data for various convolutional neural network (CNN) architectures. The study compares two approaches to data processing: one in which signals from each channel were analyzed separately, and another in which spectrograms from all three channels were fused into a single three-channel input. The primary objective was to investigate which method better captures the inter-relationships between the activity patterns of different muscles. The models were trained and evaluated using cross-validation. The best-performing architecture achieved an accuracy of 99%. The results indicate that fusing spectrograms from multiple channels into a single input can enhance the classification performance of complex muscle activity patterns, particularly when the amount of available training data is limited.

In recent years, the advantages of AI in data processing and analysis have become increasingly evident in the medical field. There has been a rapid growth in the application of AI in clinical medicine, including its use in urinary system disease detection. AI offers the capability to process and utilize diagnostic information, presenting new opportunities for precise and individualized treatment while promoting non-invasive diagnostic and therapeutic approaches. This paper introduces an original approach to addressing the supervised learning problem in convolutional neural network (CNN) models for lower urinary tract identification when confronted with a scarce and imbalanced training dataset. The proposed solution involves significantly expanding the diagnostic urinary bladder dataset by increasing the number of samples through various augmentation strategies. However, this approach also intensifies the computational complexity of AI training, rendering it infeasible to load all training datasets into memory simultaneously. To overcome this challenge, a distributed computing approach has been developed, incorporating dynamic loading of training data alongside programming-level memory optimization.

W niniejszym artykule przedstawiono oryginalne podejście do rozwiązania problemu uczenia nadzorowanego w modelach sieci neuronowych splotowych (CNN) do identyfikacji dolnych dróg moczowych w przypadku ograniczonego i niezrównoważonego zestawu danych treningowych. In the present era, maintaining a healthy and disease-free life is complex due to multiple personal and environmental impacts. Early identification and diagnosis will help human beings lead a sustainable life. However, to achieve this, healthcare data have to be processed in an efficient manner with more accuracy. Thus, the impacts of diseases or future impacts can be predicted or detected and proper medication can be provided by the physi- cians. Handling medical data over conventional data analysis is quite different due to data diversity. Efficient feature extraction techniques must be employed with minimum computation cost so that the extracted features can be classified in a better way. Machine learning models perform well in healthcare data analysis. However, the performance can be improved if deep learning models replace machine learning models. Thus, in this research work, a hybrid deep learning approach is proposed using convolutional neural networks (CNN) and the random forest (RF) algorithm. The final classifier block in the CNN architecture is replaced with a RF classifier to enhance the prediction accuracy of 0.975 and overall performance. Standard benchmark healthcare datasets are employed in the proposed model simulation analysis and the performances are compared to existing techniques such as a MNN (multi-neural network), CNN-multilayer perceptron (CNN-MLP), CNN-long short-term memory (CNN-LSTM), support vector machines (SVM), and KNN to validate the superior performance.
