This study investigates the effect of a magnetic field on the thermal properties of ethylene glycol and water-based Fe3O4 magnetic nanofluids. To make a magnetic nanofluid an option, the magnetic field strength and concentration of the magnetic nanoparticles should be optimized. This was achieved in a small-scale laboratory system designed to simulate the cooling cycle of an internal combustion engine, which was exposed to a constant magnetic field. The concentrations of the magnetic nanoparticle in the Fe3O4 nanofluid ranged between 0.025% and 0.2% by volume. The mean sizes of nanoparticles were 20 -30 nm. The research used a consistent magnetic field of 0.05,0.10, and 0.15 Tesla. The thermal properties that have been studied are the heat transfer coefficient, thermal conductivity, heat transfer rate, and Nusselt number. Experimental results indicate that the thermal properties of the Fe3O4 magnetic nano fluids were enhanced under an applied external magnetic field. The effect of the magnetic field is strongly dependent on the concentration of magnetic nanoparticles in a mixture of ethylene glycol/water. The thermal properties significantly improved at a magnetic field strength of 0.15 Tesla when using a concentration of 0.2 vol.% nanoparticles. This led to a maximum increase of 18.4% in the heat transfer coefficient. At this volume fraction and with the 0.15 Tesla magnetic field, the thermal conductivity increased by 8.22%. Additionally, the most significant increase in the Nusselt number was observed at a Reynolds number of 7500 under the same magnetic field conditions.
The possibility to calculate the intensity of a magnetic field in symmetric C-type poles system based on conformal transformation is shown. The obtained expressions make it possible to solve practical problems of choosing a rational geometry of the poles of two-pole magnetic systems according to the criteria of the maximum of the magnetic field intensity gradient and the product of the magnetic field intensity by its gradient.

The article presents the results of the numerical and analytical analysis of the wireless power transfer (WPT) system. The system consists of a transmitting and receiving surfaces, each consisting of flat spiral coils. Both proposed approaches reduce the size and complexity of models. Two coil systems were also considered: periodic and with variable winding direction. The difference between the proposed systems is a different way of winding the coils. In the periodic system, all coils are wound in the same direction. The influence of the type of coils, winding direction, number of turns and distance between coils on the efficiency of the WPT system was compared. The analysis covered a wide frequency range from 100 kHz to 1000 kHz. The Finite Element Method (FEM) was used for the analysis. Comparing both systems, models with variable coil winding show higher efficiency values. The proposed system allows for simultaneous charging of many sensors (located e.g. in walls).

Various technological operations performed using an electric arc require fast and extended control over the concentration or dispersion of heat supplied to the surface of the workpiece, weld or overlay weld. These operations can be performed under conditions such as direct or reverse polarity, direct or alternating current, and an independent or dependent arc. The additional magnetic field can be either longitudinal or transverse relative to the axis of the arc column. Its effect can trigger phenomena such as arc constriction, rotation, displacement, deflection, and oscillation. The magnetic field can also affect electrode spots by altering their distribution and shape or causing their displacement. This may lead to weld widening, reduced porosity, changes in grain-size distribution, and decreased penetration depth. It is also possible to increase the welding rate. Multi-phase inductors can generate a rotating magnetic field, which helps stabilise the electric arc. This stabilised arc is particularly useful for underwater welding. Some companies enhance the control of welding processes by using an additional magnetic field, offering universal electromagnetic systems. These systems are designed for high-quality welding, cutting, surfacing, hardening, and more.

This study investigates the hydromagnetic convection of a radiating nanofluid flowing over an exponentially stretched sheet embedded in a porous medium, with emphasis on the influences of thermal radiation, magnetic fields, Joule heating, viscous dissipation, porous permeability, and nanoparticle volume fraction on flow and heat transfer behaviour. The governing momentum and energy equations are formulated using boundary layer theory and reduced to nonlinear ordinary differential equations via similarity transformations. We numerically solve these equations using the shooting method in conjunction with the Runge-Kutta-Fehlberg integration scheme. The analysis looks at how important factors like the strength of the magnetic field, thermal radiation, Prandtl number, and how easily fluid can flow through a porous material impact the system, showing how magnetic and thermal effects play a big role in how fluids move. One of the main discoveries is that stronger magnetic fields and more thermal radiation together lower the Nusselt number, highlighting the balance between heat transfer through radiation and convection, which is important in high-temperature industrial processes. The study offers important insights for optimising a range of engineering applications, including nanomaterial-based thermal coatings, energy systems, and magnetically influenced flow control that ultimately aid advancements in energy efficiency, manufacturing processes, and environmental technologies.
This study explores the stabilising interplay of finite Larmor radius corrections and quantum pressure on the Rayleigh-Taylor instability in a non-Newtonian, magnetised fluid. The investigation is motivated by the need to understand how quantum and magnetohydrodynamic effects jointly influence instability behaviour in complex fluid systems. The governing magnetohydrodynamic equations are linearised using normal mode analysis and appropriate boundary conditions to derive a general dispersion relation for Rayleigh-Taylor instability under the Jeffrey fluid model. Numerical results show that the combined presence of finite Larmor radius corrections and quantum pressure suppresses the growth rate of Rayleigh-Taylor instability modes. In contrast, the Jeffrey parameter amplifies instability, while quantum and finite Larmor radius effects reduce both the cut-off and critical wavenumbers.
A numerical investigation has been conducted on the flow of a nanofluid over an exponentially stretching surface, a configuration relevant to many industrial heat and mass transfer applications. By applying appropriate similarity transformations, the governing partial differential equations are reduced to a set of dimensionless ordinary differential equations. These nonlinear equations are solved numerically using the fourth-order Adams–Moulton method integrated with a shooting technique to ensure accuracy and stability. The validity of the computed results is established by benchmarking them against previously published findings in the literature. Key parameters influencing the flow are illustrated and discussed through graphical representations. The study's overall findings support the conclusion that increasing the Hartmann number, Schmidt number and thermal stratification parameter reduces the thermal boundary layer thickness. Moreover, enhanced solutal stratification and chemical reaction parameters are found to suppress the nanoparticle concentration. Engineering quantities like the skin friction coefficient, Nusselt number and Sherwood number are also computed and analysed, providing insights into optimising nanofluid-based thermal systems under complex boundary conditions.
Natural convection in porous media is crucial for applications such as geothermal energy cooling systems and energy storage, where efficient heat transfer is essential. However, the combined effect of anisotropy in the porous matrix and an inclined magnetic field on nanofluid heat transfer remains poorly understood hence, this study addresses numerically the unexplored combined effects of anisotropy and inclined magnetic field on the natural convection of water-based Al2O3 nanofluid. The Darcy-Brinkman-Forchheimer model and energy transport equations describe nanofluid motion and heat transfer in a porous medium. The mathematical equations are discretized using the finite volume method in an in-house computer code. The governing parameters are the Rayleigh number the Darcy number, the Hartmann number, solid volume fraction, the permeability ratio K (a measure of porous medium anisotropy) and an inclination angle with the magnetic field. Results are reported for streamlines, temperature contours, and the average Nusselt number under different parametric conditions. It was found that increasing the Rayleigh and Darcy numbers shifts the system from conduction to convection, improving the heat transfer rate. The nanoparticle volume fraction enhances heat transfer in conductiondominated flows but reduces it in convection-dominated regimes. A higher Hartmann number decreases the average Nusselt number, with a more pronounced effect when the magnetic field is oriented horizontally. A higher permeability ratio reduces flow resistance and enhances convective heat transfer, but beyond K > 10, further increases in permeability have minimal impact on the heat transfer rate.
One of the most advanced techniques for dealing with metal is electrochemical machining (ECM). Objects that are hard or impossible to make with traditional machining techniques can be machined utilizing this method. However, in order to increase performance and economy, new ECM approaches must be developed because to the growing need for complex components in industries like aerospace, automotive, and medical devices. Thus, the main goal of this study is to ascertain how the ECM affects the material removal rate (MRR) in the presence of a magnetic field. In particular, the tool was composed of copper, and the workpiece was formed of aluminum 6061 alloy, Al-Sic, and Al-B4C using a stir casting technique. The voltage, gap, electrolyte concentration, and material type are among the input process factors that are changed during the experiment. The software used was Minitab to examine the results of the Taguchi design experiment, which employed orthogonal arrays. On the basis of the Taguchi design, the process parameters were improved. Specifically, four input variables were examined in this experiment, each having values at the three-factor level. According to the findings, the voltage was the most important factor. It contributed 50.12% for MRR without a magnetic field and 56.02% with one. The concentration came in second with 16.73% and 24.03% (without and with magnetic field), followed by the gap with 19.02 percent and 11.60% (without and with magnetic field), and the material type came in last with 1.35% and 0.57% (without and with magnetic field). Furthermore, the regression model’s overall accuracy for the majority of experiments indicates that it is reasonably accurate with percent errors typically less than 1%.
The subject under consideration finds manifold applications across various disciplines, including biological, industrial, and environmental sectors. Therefore, this study aims to analytically investigate the onset of convective instability in a dusty ferromagnetic fluid layer, influenced by magnetic field-dependent viscosity and fluid-permeable magnetically active boundaries, when subjected to a uniform transverse magnetic field. The eigenvalue problem is formulated through the utilization of linear stability theory followed by normal mode analysis. To address this problem, a single-term Galerkin method is employed, followed by a numerical calculation of the critical magnetic Rayleigh number. It is investigated numerically and graphically that (𝑁𝑐)𝐹𝑟𝑒𝑒≤(𝑁𝑐)𝑃𝑒𝑟𝑚𝑒𝑎𝑏𝑙𝑒≤(𝑁𝑐)𝑅𝑖𝑔𝑖𝑑. It has been observed that as the dust particle parameter ℎ1 increase, the critical Rayleigh number decreases, indicating the destabilizing nature of ℎ1 On the other hand, the viscosity parameter 𝛿 and magnetic susceptibility 𝜒 and permeability parameter 𝐷𝑎𝑠 demonstrate a stabilizing effect on the system. Initially, measure of nonlinearity of magnetization 𝑀3 exhibits a destabilizing effect, but beyond a certain threshold, it switches to a stabilizing effect within the system.

Problem ten dotyczy zarówno układów izolacyjnych w obszarze przesyłu i dystrybucji energii elektrycznej, urządzeń przemysłowych, jak i transportu m.in. samochodów elektrycznych, trakcji. The reliability and operating time of electrical devices may be limited by phenomena that occur in their insulation systems under the influence of an electric field. One of the methods of particular importance for the assessment of the condition of medium- and high-voltage insulation systems is the measurement of partial discharges (PD). The article presents the influence of the magnetic field on the dynamics of partial discharges in high-voltage insulation systems. This problem applies to both insulation systems in the area of power transmission and distribution, industrial equipment, as well as transportation, e.g. electric vehicles, traction. In all electrically conductive power devices, the magnetic field is superimposed on the electric field, affecting the partial discharge mechanism. It was observed that the mutual interaction of electric and magnetic fields affects the dynamics of partial discharges - the article presents examples of parallel and perpendicular mutual orientation of these fields. The applied phase resolved PD measurement technique allows for determining the influence of the magnetic field in the model electrode system and for quantitative visualization in the form of diagrams of time sequences of discharge pulses. Simulation of the electron trajectories under conditions of simultaneous electric and magnetic fields revealed changes in their trajectories in relation to the presence of only the electric field. The presented results of the experiments may contribute to the development of a methodology for measuring partial discharges with the superposition of electric and magnetic fields, as well as to a better understanding of the basic characteristics of their physical mechanisms. The observed effect of partial discharge dynamics modulation, additionally by the magnetic field, may be important in the diagnostics of insulation systems of power equipment.
