This research provides a literature review on the application of sentiment analysis (SA) in the new product development (NPD) process. The literature review employs a systematic literature review methodology. The steps include selecting a review topic, searching and selecting relevant articles, assessing and synthesising the literature, and organising the writing of the review. Sentiment analysis is a subdomain of natural language processing (NLP) that examines user opinions. The sentiment analysis methodology has been employed in the new product development process to replace traditional methods. Sentiment analysis can be conducted across various modalities, including text, audio, image, and multimodal formats. Text modality for sentiment analysis has been used to enhance the lifetime of products and services. Audio data and image modalities represent alternative modalities; however, they receive significantly less attention. The limitation is that these modalities are predominantly executed in controlled environments, utilising open-source or benchmark datasets, and some still employ text modality sentiment analysis methods or lexicons. Multimodal data, conversely, aims to augment the informational dimension of the text modality and is typically executed using deep learning models. This modality encompasses numerous combinations with the primary objective of enhancing the performance of sentiment analysis, hence reducing bias. The findings suggest that future research in this domain should focus on improving multimodal sentiment analysis to improve the new product development process.

The research is based on a literature review focused on early supplier involvement in new product development processes while working towards Lean production, especially for the automotive industry, where all actors must be fast and accurate. For practitioners, early supplier involvement is a topic that deserves serious attention since it impacts on decentralisation, promoting gains in quality, quantity, and execution time, as well as cost reduction and/or the acquisition of technical knowledge in developing products and production processes. The authors first introduce the key concepts, issues, and theoretical foundations concerning early supplier involvement challenges and new product development within organisations that affect their core processes and outsourcing strategies when seeking collaboration to develop more sophisticated technologies that a new product requires. The authors critically explore these issues, especially concerning earlier supplier involvement and its connection to the Lean philosophy, pursuing process tunning, considering production quantity, quality, and time, as well as avoiding penalising interruption within the automotive industry. The study provides the first critical review of potential challenges for a successful early supply involvement and, consequently, a successful new product development process decentralisation and the acquisition of technical knowledge in developing products and production processes needed to satisfy customers.

Purpose: Identification and selection of a set of critical success factors for a research organisation based on the evaluation conducted by managers of new product development processes at such organisations. Determination of factors that are of the utmost importance at the pre-development stage (so-called fuzzy front-end stage) and verification of the obtained results based on the case study of a successful new product implementation. Design/method/approach: First, desk research was conducted, followed by a survey and a case study analysis. Conclusions: The adequacy of the identified set of factors was confirmed (applicability of 90% of the selected factors was recognised). A number of additional success determinants of the new product development (NPD) process were specified. The importance of planning, tactical and organisational measures taken at the fuzzy front-end stage of the NPD process was confirmed. The crucial importance of identifying and verifying NPD process critical success factors was demonstrated. Research limitations/implications: Possibility to expand the set of critical success factors for a research organisation, verification of the adequacy of the developed set based on other cases and types of technological solutions. Practical implications: The study can serve as a reference for research organisations that want to verify the reasons for the success or failure of their implementation processes. Social implications: The study can contribute to the implementation of standards and good practices concerning the NPD process implementation, which are directed at social participation and consideration of social needs during the processes of innovation development and implementation. Originality/value: The study addresses the needs of teams involved in NPD processes, both at research organisations and in companies. The article provides important guidance to managers of NPD processes. It offers a comprehensive overview of critical success factors and identifies a set of good practices to improve the efficiency of the NPD process.

Software development projects are the essential part of business activity of many IT companies. According to numerous studies and reports, approximately only one-third of IT projects turn out to be successful. Software development projects require unique approach in order to meet customer’s requirements. This article provides an in-depth literature review on barriers to IT project launch and implementation. Also, the paper presents key findings of a research that was carried out to identify the most significant barriers to IT projects implementation.

The paper aims to explore consumer co-creation experience of new product development processes. Specifically, it is an attempt to determine the level of consumer engagement in an online co-creation process, identifying motives and reasons for the participation in new product development as well as understanding the types of Internet-based co-creation that are mostly preferred by consumers. The study used an online questionnaire and the CAWI method. The results of the research showed that consumers were interested in being involved in the co-creation of new product development. However, some consumers clearly expressed their reservations regarding participation because they felt lacking required knowledge.

The role of innovation capability to produce new product becomes crucial and important factor for sustainable marketing performance. The purpose of this paper is to explain the causes of different or contradictory results of research the innovation capabilities on marketing performance. This study discusses about success finding of new product development in increasing marketing performance. This study was conducted on 322 traditional textile batik SMEs in Central Java. The main objective of this study is to analyze on how innovation capability, mediated with new product development, can increase marketing performance. The finding shows that marketing performance can be increased by innovation capability through new product development mediation. This study describes each concept and suggestions for the betterment of new product development in the future.

W artykule opisano różne koncepcje i sugestie dotyczące lepszego rozwoju nowych produktów w przyszłości.

Development of new products is essential for the economic success of manufacturing companies. Companies must constantly strive to develop new products to meet market needs. Most of the solutions proposed in the literature in the development of a new product designed for make to stock companies. However, as it turns out, unfortunately, these solutions cannot be directly used in engineering-to-order companies. The article presents some models of new product development processes, indicating areas for their refinement.
