Fundamentalne zmiany zachodzące w europejskim systemie elektroenergetycznym (SEE), wynikające z transformacji energetycznej, prowadzą do wzrostu złożoności w kontroli i prowadzeniu ruchu.

Fundamental changes taking place in the European Power System, resulting from the energy transformation, are leading to increased complexity in control and operation activity. In response to these challenges, transmission system operators (TSOs) are implementing wide-area monitoring systems (WAMS) as a key tool supporting the security and stability of the power system operation. This article presents current operator experiences with implementing PMUs and WAMS, with particular emphasis on regional data exchange platforms between TSOs, which enable joint monitoring of system phenomena in real time and ex-post event analysis. Examples of the use of open-source platforms developed by companies such as PSE, 50Hertz, and Statnett, supporting the development of analytical tools in the WAMS area, are also discussed. In the context of the growing need to integrate data and alarms from various systems, plans to connect warning signals from WAMS with SCADA/EMS were presented, which is aimed at increasing operational efficiency and fast response in case of events threatening the stability of the power system. The possibilities of the synchrophasor technique are extended by waveform measurements of voltage and current WMU (Waveform Measurement Unit), thanks to which it is possible to capture fast and complex dynamic phenomena in the power system, which may be not recognised by standard synchrophasor measurements.
Mechanizmy te obejmują w szczególności zaangażowanie organizacji zrzeszających operatorów systemów elektroenergetycznych (ENTSO-E, EU DSO) wprzygotowywanie kodeksów sieciowych i wytycznych, a także określonych kategorii podmiotów regulowanych (operatorzy, NEMO) w przygotowywanie tzw. metod, warunków i zasad (TCM). Stanowi to przejaw współregulacji (co-regulation), tj. formy regulacji, w ramach której podmioty regulowane (bądż zrzeszające je organizacje) same tworzą odnoszące się do nich normy, natomiast wprowadzanie i egzekwowanie tych norm następuje przy udziale organów władzy publicznej (np. organu regulacji sektorowej). Mechanizm współregulacji przewidziany został również w projektowanym kodeksie sieciowym ws. odpowiedzi odbioru (NC DR), którego propozycję ACER przekazał 7 marca 2025 r. Komisji Europejskiej.

Starting from the so-called Third Energy Package, EU regulations concerning the energy sector have increasingly relied on mechanisms that involve regulated entities in the creation and development of those regulations. These mechanisms include, in particular, the involvement of organizations representing electricity system operators (ENTS O-E and EU DSO) in the preparation of network codes and guidelines, as well as the participation of specific categories of regulated entities (system operators and NEMOs) in the development of so—called terms, conditions and methodologies (TCMs). This constitutes an example of co-regulation, i.e. a form of regulation in which regulated entities (or organizations representing them) themselves develop the rules applicable to them, while the adoption and enforcement of those rules take place With the participation of public authorities (e.g. the sectoral regulatory authority). A coregulation mechanism has also been provided for in the proposed network code on demand response (NC DR), the proposal of Which was submitted by the ACER to the European Commission on 7 March 2025. The draft NC DR provides for the development of six TCMs Which, depending on their subject matter, are to have either a national or an EU—wide character. Accordingly, the TCMs are to be developed either by the electricity system operators of the respective Member State or jointly by ENTS O-E and EU DSO. Unlike previous network codes and guidelines, the preparation of proposals for TCMs of a national character will, for the first time, directly involve a broader group of entities (i.e. not only TSOs but also DSOs), while procedural matters will not be regulated in the provisions of the network code itself but rather in rules of procedure to be established by the Member State or the NRA. The TCMS adopted under this procedure will have a significant impact on procuring flexibility services and non-frequency ancillary services by the operators, due to the fact that some of these services fall within the scope of regulation under the NC DR as so-called local services.

Contemporary residential architecture is seeking design solutions that respond to changes in demographics, family structures, and economic conditions. This article presents a literature review focusing on two complementary concepts that can contribute to higher-quality residential environments: flexibility, understood as the capacity for physical transformations of a dwelling’s spatial structure, and adaptability, which describes the potential of space to accommodate different functions without major construction works. The review covers international literature from the past two decades, with a focus on housing design theories, empirical research on user satisfaction, and analyses of implementation barriers in design practice.
Purpose: The aim of the article is to identify the expectations of surveyed representatives of Generation Z regarding changes in the work execution process and the ways work will be performed in the coming years. Design/methodology/approach: Following a literature review on the subject, directions of change in the work execution process were identified. A survey was then conducted among representatives of Generation Z in Poland. This made it possible to understand the values and expectations of Generation Z in the context of changes in the work process, including modern work trends and digital technologies. Findings: The study revealed that Generation Z highly values flexible forms of work. The most desired work models are hybrid work (82.3%) and flexible working hours (75.16%). Remote work (44.72%) and a four-day workweek (45.34%) are also popular, indicating a strong desire to achieve a work-life balance. Preferences for working in international teams (34.78%) and business travel (37.58%) reflect a desire to gain global professional experience. Freelance work (22.98%) and project-based work (22.05%) are less preferred, suggesting concerns about job stability and financial security. The least preferred form of work is traditional office work (13.66%). Research limitations/implications: The main limitation of the study is the use of an online survey, which may lead to capturing the expectations of only those respondents who are more technologically advanced. Practical implications: The study points to important trends that companies should consider when designing workplaces. Businesses should offer flexible work options, such as hybrid models and flexible hours, to attract and retain Generation Z employees. Additionally, it is important to utilize technologies that support remote work execution. Social implications: The study results may contribute to improving employees' work-life balance and increasing flexibility in how work is performed. They may also drive changes in the structure of work itself. Originality/value: The paper provides insights into Generation Z’s preferences, helping companies, HR professionals, and decision-makers adapt to the evolving expectations of younger workers.

The article presents the COLCON system, which is based on temperature monitoring during the early stage of concrete mix curing, using multi-level decision-making on three fundamental levels (and in multiple stages): planning based on seasonality coefficients, eliminating disturbance effects through the use of passive flexibility (resilience) by applying appropriate modifications to the concrete mix, and active flexibility (adaptability) – taking into account the possibility of controlling the heating of the element based on monitoring, weather forecasting, and simulation of the concrete strength development process in the event of a pessimistic scenario. The developed system was used in laboratory tests and on a construction site, and the collected data served to generate decision rules based on learning from examples using specialized RapidMiner software, employing Decision Tree and Random Forest algorithms.

The article discusses the „white elephant” phenomenon in sports infrastructure-expensive venues that lose their function and become economic burdens after large-scale events. The aim of the study is to analyze the underlying causes of this phenomenon and identify factors that support effective planning and management of sports facilities. The paper presents case studies of stadiums in Greece, Brazil, and Russia, which illustrate failed investments, as well as London’s 2012 Olympic venues as an example of successful long-term planning. Based on the analysis, the article outlines recommendations emphasizing integrated urban planning, design flexibility, and sustainable development. The findings highlight that early consideration of future use ensures the long-term viability of sports infrastructure and prevents functional and financial decline.
E-work came to the fore as a strong equalizer when women started participating increasingly in this work environment due to the dismantling of geographical barriers and the absence of their physical presence in the workplace. In post-COVID workplaces, the participation of employees in duties and the distribution of duties among employees reappeared. The main objective of this study is to examine the status quo of the modern workplace from the workforce’s point of view in terms of gender equality. The authors analysed the gender imbalances in e-work environments in Austria, the Czech Republic and Slovakia. A quantitative analysis based on primary data obtained through a Microsoft Forms Survey was carried out in this study. In consequence, the following research question was explored: Can e-work lower gender imbalances? Six hypotheses were formulated, and three (H1, H2 and H4) were confirmed. It was found that the e-workforce does not take gender into account, and this view is held significantly more often by men, by employees aged 22-27 and by employees from Austria. It is held in terms of fair play in being in the remote work environment and that it is the quality of the work that matters. Females agree significantly more often with the statement that the modern work environment entails an equal call for all genders. Work has changed in many ways, but gender imbalance persists. Serious nation-to-nation differences in gender imbalances, including in e-work environments, persist globally, with some countries, in our study Austria, making notable improvement, while, as our study shows, others, like the Czech Republic and Slovakia, lag behind. But full gender parity has not been reached yet.

In modern business environments, flexibility and adaptability in customer relationship management solutions are increasingly important. This study examines the flexibility of Salesforce’s standard components compared to custom-developed components in Lightning Web Components by assessing each type’s customization and adaptability to business-specific needs. The research sets forth three primary hypotheses: that custom components are more adaptable to unique business requirements, that custom components enhance user satisfaction through better interface adaptation, and that they provide improved responsiveness across various devices. The methodology involved A/B testing with two groups, each evaluating either standard or custom Salesforce components on desktop and mobile devices. The evaluation focused on four flexibility metrics: CSS customizability, responsiveness, parameter flexibility, and user acceptability. Data collection included code analysis, component behavior observations, and user surveys. Findings indicate a significant flexibility advantage for custom components across all measured characteristics, confirming the hypotheses. In conclusion, the research demonstrates that custom components offer substantial flexibility benefits over standard components, particularly in enhancing user satisfaction and adaptability. These results suggest custom components are valuable for enterprises requiring high adaptability in their Salesforce solutions.

We współczesnym środowisku biznesowym elastyczność i zdolność do adaptacji w zarządzaniu relacjami z klientami zyskują na znaczeniu. Niniejsze badanie analizuje elastyczność standardowych komponentów Salesforce w porównaniu z komponentami tworzonymi na zamówienie w technologii Lightning Web Components, oceniając dostosowanie każdego z nich do specyficznych potrzeb biznesowych.

The performance of both drive configurations, the effect of temperature, and speed on energy consumption were evaluated. The changes in vehicle dynamics indicators for both types of propulsion systems were determined, and the advantages of the propulsion conversion process were presented.
This paper assesses the electricity bill savings potential of nationwide demand-side management programs in the residential sector. The analysis provides br oad insights into how time-of-use optimization could bring economic benefits while accelerating the deployment of renewable energy sources. We have built an electricity model with detailed household electricity consumption. Using survey data, we have created a baseline scenario that represents the current appliance usage habits of households in Hungary providing useful information on their shiftable electricity demand. We have then used time-of-use optimization of household appliances that do not affect thermal comfort in order to minimize electricity bills. Assuming different levels of participation in the demand-side management program, we reschedule the use of washing machines, dishwashers and dryers. Load optimization has a peak shaving impact on the total load, ranging from 2.2 to 3.6%. During winter, the potential for peak shaving is around –205 MW, whereas in summer, it is approximately –166 MW. Although solar energy is abundant and cheap during the day in summer, motivating households to shift their load, there is less shiftable load in the late evening hours. Therefore, the peak shaving potential is higher during winter due to the earlier peak. Modelling results from the Hungarian electricity market illustrate that smartening the grid has a bill saving potential of 6.1%, or EUR 700 million in Hungary, assuming that all households are equipped with smart meters. However, half of this reduction can be achieved with only a 25% participation rate.

Although the elastic properties of porous materials depend mainly on the volume fraction of pores, the details of pore distribution within the material representative volume are also important and may be the subject of optimisation. To study their effect, experimental analyses were performed on samples made of a polymer material with a predefined distribution of spherical voids, but with various porosities due to different pore sizes. Three types of pore distribution with cubic symmetry were considered and the results of experimental analyses were confronted with mean-field estimates and numerical calculations. The mean-field ‘cluster’ model is used in which the mutual interactions between each of the two pores in the predefined volume are considered. As a result, the geometry of pore distribution is reflected in the anisotropic effective properties. The samples were produced using a 3D printing technique and tested in the regime of small strain to assess the elastic stiffness. The digital image correlation method was used to measure material response under compression. As a reference, the solid samples were also 3D printed and tested to evaluate the polymer matrix stiffness. The anisotropy of the elastic response of porous samples related to the arrangement of voids was assessed. Young’s moduli measured for the additively manufactured samples complied satisfactorily with modelling predictions for low and moderate pore sizes, while only qualitatively for larger porosities. Thus, the low-cost additive manufacturing techniques may be considered rather as preliminary tools to prototype porous materials and test mean-field approaches, while for the quantitative and detailed model validation, more accurate additive printing techniques should be considered. Research paves the way for using these computationally efficient models in optimising the microstructure of heterogeneous materials and composites.

Dzięki systemowi cyberfizycznemu oraz monitoringowi i możliwości zarządzania w czasie rzeczywistym istnieje możliwość zapewnienia realizacji założonego głównego planu pomimo ciągłych zmian w otoczeniu wewnętrznym i zewnętrznym.

This article indicates that the skillful combination of traditional methods (schedule, network model) and modern methods (Flexibility, Agility, Lean Management), especially with the use of the idea of Construction 4.0 gives the opportunity to improve process management based on the stabilization of performance on the one hand, and, on the other, adaptation to changing environmental conditions. Thanks to the cyber-physical system as well as real-time monitoring and management, it is possible to ensure the implementation of the assumed master plan despite constant changes in the internal and external environment. The need to consider flexibility emerged in the field of construction process management at the turn of the 21st century and continues to focus on Agile Management. The synergy resulting from the simultaneous use of several approaches seems to be the condition for achieving success in the form of compliance of the actual mileage with the plan.
Background: The aim of the paper is to analyse the effects of disruptions on supply chain performance and overall resilience. In recent years, global supply chains have been under great pressure and faced many challenges, like demand fluctuation, lack of raw materials or supply, disruption of transportation corridors and lockdowns. As a response to this, global companies started to reorganize their supply chains, trying to save and maintain their core operations by reshoring, multiple sourcing or increasing their inventory levels, and thereby reaching a higher level of long-term supply-chain sustainability. Methods: The disruptive changes in transportation resources and their overall impact on supply chains and their complexity were explored. By using the simulation tool Simul8, hypotheses on how disruptive events influence supply chain performance were tested. The model tested key performance indicators (KPIs) of 3- and 4-tier supply chains, primarily average lead time in the system, average idle time in process, and resource utilization level. Results: In this study, a standard 3-tier supply chain model was compared with a 4-tier supply chain model to determine how KPIs change when there is disruption to transport and storage capabilities. The results indicate that in case of disruption, the 3-tier supply chain performs better than the 4-tier supply chain, even if the 4th tier is a cross-docking center inserted into the system to be able to react to demand fluctuations quickly. Based on this outcome, complexity does not serve resilience. Conclusions: Based on the simulations performed, recommendations are formulated for practitioners on how to develop the structure of supply chains, taking into account their level of resilience.

The main aim of the article is to determine the requirements of agglomeration railway passengers in order to change transport habits. The focus was on the requirements for small railway stations, which play an important role in the process of implementing the idea of sustainable transport. Most travelers use their private cars for daily commuting. This is largely due to the neglect of public transport, which requires a fundamental change in policy - its focus on the development of sustainable transport, the pillar of which is rail transport along with non-motorized transport options (e.g. cycling, walking). The survey showed that the most important point of the survey were the problems that travelers face on a daily basis at railway stations/stops. The basic ones include: lack of toilets, waiting rooms, cates/bars and commercial and service points. Development plans for the Poznan Metropolitan Railway (PKM) were also presented - a project to use the city's freight bypass in the PKM system. Its main goal is to bring the metropolis closer to the idea of a 15-minute city and 15-minute stations in order to achieve the concept of sustainable transport in the city and agglomeration. Due to the critical assessment of Innovative System Stations as a solution that, due to non-standard equipment, causes problems with significant costs of vandalism, it was proposed to introduce System Modular Stations based on flexibility, enabling - thanks to the introduction of the idea of modularity in the construction of a small station - adapting the station/stop equipment to the changing requirements of passengers. The flexible approach is based on staged investing, which also significantly reduces the level of initial investment expenses. The initial solution is to equip the station with basic equipment that meets the survey results. Naturally, the key to success in the design, construction and operation of small stations is cooperation between PKP, regional authorities and the local community.
W artykule przedstawiono koncepcję doboru deskowań w celu zagwarantowania wysokiej wydajności procesów związanych z montażem deskowań, montażem zbrojenia, betonowaniem, pielęgnacją i rozdeskowaniem (i ewentualnym demontażem deskowań). W proponowanej metodzie 3F (Flexible Formwork Flow) wykorzystano podstawowe założenia Industry 5.0, Lean i Agile.

The article presents the concept of formwork selection to guarantee high efficiency of processes related to formwork assembly, reinforcement installation, concreting, maintenance and stripping (and possible dismantling of formwork). The proposed 3F (Flexible Formwork Flow) method uses the basic assumptions of Industry 5.0, Lean and Agile. This means adopting such basic strategies as: employee support by robots (industry 5.0 emphasizes cooperation between people and robots - on construction sites, this means the possibility of using an exoskeleton to support the employee), flexibility and adaptation (flexibility and quick adaptation to changing conditions - during the working day or during the curing and maturation of concrete are crucial to ensuring rhythmic production - e.g. modification of the concrete mix to ensure the possibility of formwork rotation despite changing conditions - e.g. ambient temperature), digitization and data analysis (the use of digital technologies ensures the possibility of monitoring processes in progress and the environment and management in real time), training and development of employees (improving employee skills through training and improving procedures is of key importance, which is the basis for increasing efficiency and reducing the need to perform rework), sustainable development (in the case of construction, this may mean the use of closed-Ioop or biodegradable materials - minimizing the impact on the environment), minimizing waste (an action typical of lean is aimed at limiting losses resulting from, for example, unjustified storage, transport or waiting). The proposed 3F method, thanks to the above-mentioned strategies, makes it possible to achieve greater compliance of planning and implementation of processes on the construction site and stable process performance despite the need to operate in a turbulent environment. The use of the described 3F method is beneficial for both the formwork supplier (reliability in the operation of the formwork warehouse) and the contractor on the construction site (greater consistency of planning and implementation of processes on the construction site).
Flexibility in workforce scheduling in services is necessary to reduce the impact of demand uncertainty, absenteeism, and desertion while maintaining high service levels. This paper studies the workforce scheduling problem, including multiple skill accumulation, training, and welfare, as well as flexibility for employees and the company. All these elements are modelled and included in a mixed-integer linear programming (MILP) model that maximises their accumulated skill level. A real case study based on the scheduling of lab assistants to laboratory practices at a university in Colombia is used to generate numerical experiments. Different experiments were conducted, and the results show that the level of skill achieved is highly sensitive to the number of assistants and the number of allocations. The experiments also showed that, while keeping the same number of lab assistants, it is possible to include flexibility and welfare constraints. Finally, the proposed model can generate schedules that achieve high levels of skills and meet the different constraints of the model, including balance, accumulation, demand and welfare.
Firma realizuje szereg inicjatyw wspierających rozwój inteligentnej infrastruktury sieciowej, zgodnie z założeniami Strategicznej Agendy Badawczej TAURON Dystrybucja S.A. Kluczowym zadaniem Spółki jest zapewnienie i utrzymanie wysokich standardów jakości energii elektrycznej w zmiennym otoczeniu dynamicznego rozwoju OZE.W tym celu konieczne będzie wytworzenie nowych narzędzi, które pomogą OSD w pełnieniu funkcji moderatora sieci. Komisja Europejska ogłosiła, że zamierza wspierać unijnych operatorów systemu przesyłowego (OSP) i operatorów systemu dystrybucyjnego (OSD) w procesie tworzenia cyfrowego bliźniaka (digital twin) europejskiej sieci elektroenergetycznej.

To support energy transformation and development of renewable resources, it is necessary to use, among others: new measurement, communication and analytical technologies. An effective energy transformation will not be possible without smart grid. It is forecasted that by 2030, several dozen million electric vehicles and heat pumps will appear in the European Union. And there will be significant electrification of transport, industry and the municipal sphere. TAURON Dystrybucja has been conducting a lot of investments, as well as research and development activities in this area for at least several years. One example is a microgrid project. The company implements many projects supporting the development of intelligent network infrastructure, in accordance with the assumptions of the Strategic Research Agenda. The key task of the Company is to ensure and maintain high standards of electricity quality in the changing environment of dynamic development of renewable energy sources. It will be necessary to create new tools that will support the DSO in performing the function of grid moderator. The European Commission announced its intention to support EU transmission system operators (TSOs) and distribution system operators (DSOs) in the process of creating a Digital Twin of the European electricity grid.
