Purpose: This article combines three issues: new technologies, migration, and crafts, analyzed from the perspective of people training in craft professions in centers located in the Opole Region (Poland). It aims to find answers to the question how does the implementation of new technologies in the craft professions affect the likelihood of abandoning intentions for labor migration? Design/methodology/approach: The article presents the results of a survey conducted among 166 students of vocational schools located in the cities of Kędzierzyn-Koźle, Opole, and Nysa. The research was conducted using a quantitative method based on a structured questionnaire that included questions concerning the respondents’ vocational training profile, plans to start working in Poland, intended country of work, age, sex, and nationality. Findings: The research reveals that although most vocational school students plan to pursue employment in Poland, limited migration interest, enduring gender-based occupational patterns, and prevailing labor market uncertainty highlight the need for enhanced vocational guidance and greater exposure to international labor opportunities. The results further indicate that while vocational school students recognize technological innovation as a driver of efficiency and the modernization of craft professions, migration intentions remain primarily shaped by economic conditions and individual motivations. Originality/value: This article provides a comprehensive examination of the interplay between emerging technologies and migration, specifically within the context of the craft sector, thereby addressing and filling a previously identified gap in the existing body of research.

The emergency notification system enables any person staying within the territory of Poland to request assistance in emergency situations. It has been operating since 2014 and has been continuously modified to adapt to contemporary social needs in accordance with European Union directives. This article discusses potential new solutions derived from the experiences of other European Union Member States. A key issue is the improvement of the system through the implementation of modern technologies and information systems, such as the Next Generation 112 (NG112) system, automated external defibrillators (AED) mapping, and advanced mobile location (AML). The implementation of these innovations may significantly enhance the quality and effectiveness of emergency communications, while aligning the system with European Union regulations may contribute to increasing public safety and the protection of citizens.
The subject of data exchange and the harmonisation of civil registration rules has not yet been addressed in legal literature. This article discusses the legal situation and analyses the pragmatics developed by the Civil Registry Office in the field of civil status information exchange between Poland and Ukraine in the context of actual needs and European standards. Despite huge investments in the creation of electronic registers on both the Polish and Ukrainian sides, the exchange of this information and documents is highly unsatisfactory, even though these are key issues affecting the determination of the correct civil status of individuals and their ‘legal comfort’. The reasons for this situation can be found, on the one hand, in the inadequate solutions for creating civil status registers in Poland and Ukraine with regard to the exchange of information, which in this respect are ‘closed systems’ on the other hand, low awareness and even willingness to use electronic documents in international transactions by various entities, including authorities, resulting from ‘attachment to traditional documents’. There is certainly a need to develop a new model for data exchange between Poland and Ukraine, taking into account the services of the European Digital Identity Wallet, which will translate into increased data security, quality and timeliness, and this is the main thrust of the European Digital Decade.

The article addresses the issue of cooperation between border services (the Border Guard and the National Revenue Administration) and local government units in the area of the Medyka border crossing in the context of the armed conflict in Ukraine. The paper is theoretical in nature and constitutes part of a broader research project, the results of which have been divided into two separate and independent scientific articles. Part I was published in this journal, Scientific Reports of the Fire University (Zeszyty Naukowe SGSP), under the title: “Customs and border systems on the external border of the EU on the example of the border crossing in Medyka – legal and economic aspects”, issue No. (93), 2. The analytical section primarily employs the legal analysis method, focusing on the applicable regulations and the mechanisms of cooperation between the indicated institutions. Additionally, the authors refer to selected results of empirical research conducted using the diagnostic survey method, concerning the impact of the influx of war refugees on the socio-economic situation of local government units and the level of residents’ sense of security after the outbreak of the war in Ukraine. The obtained results highlight both difficulties and good practices observed at the local level, particularly in municipalities located in the immediate vicinity of the European Union’s external border.
Purpose: The article attempts to identify the competences of health care specialists in the context of the 4.0 revolution based on the learning outcomes of postgraduate studies devoted to new technologies in health care. Design/methodology/approach: An analysis of existing data (desk research) was carried out, focused on the planned learning outcomes in the 4 newest postgraduate fields of study devoted to the implementation of technology in health care facilities. Findings: Universities focus on the development of technological and partly methodological competences, taking little into account social and personal competences, which are equally important for the implementation of medicine 4.0. Some universities design broad programs addressed to various health care specialists, and some universities focus on selected areas of medicine where technology may have the greatest application. Research limitations: The offer of studies combining medicine and technology is still developing, therefore only 4 fields of postgraduate studies were analyzed. Practical implications: The analyzes conducted showed two approaches to teaching technology in medicine, the first one notes the use of technology in various fields of health care, the second one focuses on specific medical specialties. The advantages and disadvantages of both approaches are discussed. It is also necessary to implement learning outcomes regarding personal or social competences, such as employees' attitudes towards rapid technological changes, motivation to learn and competences regarding interdisciplinary cooperation. Social implications: Implementing changes in study programs will allow for more effective education of health care specialists in the area of new technologies, which is necessary to improve the quality of treatment. Originality/value: The conducted study showed gaps in study programs, which will allow for their improvement and, as a result, increase the quality of teaching in the field of new technologies.

Purpose: The aim of the article is to determine the price sensitivity of students to their favorite applications and programs. Design/methodology/approach: The main research problem is: What is the price sensitivity of students to their favorite applications and programs? The study was conducted using the quantitative method, the survey technique on students in Krakow (Poland) in May and June 2023. The research sample was 424 people. Findings: Every second student would not give up Messenger if it was paid at an affordable price, every third from Instagram and Spotify, every fourth from YouTube, and every fifth from TikTok. They would be less willing to pay, for example, for Facebook. Every third student would be willing to pay up to PLN 20 per month for their favorite application or program (above this amount, they would rather not use it than pay). Every fifth respondent indicated PLN 30 per month as the upper limit. The vast majority of students (71%) declared that if the respondents' favorite application or program was paid at an affordable price, they would continue to use it. One in four respondents said they would look for a replacement (25%). Research limitations/implications: Studying price sensitivity in the new technologies sector is a complex problem and the research presented in this work covers only selected aspects in this field. Practical implications: The research results show young people's declarations of price changes in the new technologies sector. Could raising the prices of their favorite apps cause them to use them less? The new technologies sector can use the research results to set prices for selected applications or programs. Social implications: The research conclusions can be used to determine whether price manipulation for new technologies can result in less use of them by young people, and thus have a positive social effect. Originality/value: The study provides insights into the willingness of students to pay for these services and identifies specific preferences and behaviors regarding the use of paid and free versions of applications. The research results can be used by owners of online platforms, marketers, educators and students.
Purpose: Reducing the execution time of individual processes, or the execution of work by robots and cobots, affects the number of labor hours in the enterprise in production. The efficiency of the use of resources in production can be measured by the partial productivity index. Therefore, it was decided to address the topic of the impact of new technologies on productivity. Methodology: Analysis of international literature from main databases and Polish literature, critical analysis of the literature, and analysis of macroeconomic statistical data focused on gross domestic product, employment, and innovation activities of enterprises. Data for analysis are from OECD statistical databases and the Poland Central Statistical Office. Findings: An analysis of the literature on productivity and the impact of new technologies on its level showed that the most obvious is to study labor productivity. Some studies for national economies have shown just such a relationship. Taking this into account, the author of the publication undertook an analysis of the situation in Poland. A significant increase in innovation-active enterprises (especially in services) and a significant increase in the share of R&D spending were seen. The share of spending on innovation and new technologies is growing, with a steady increase in the productivity of the economy. Based on this, the conclusion is that investment especially in new technologies can help improve productivity levels. Research limitations: The analysis mainly concerns the research desk, the analysis of data for the Polish economy is based on data available in the databases of the Central Statistical Office and the OECD. Continued research on enterprises is advisable to be able to better study the productivity of enterprises. Originality/value: Economy and statistic analysis of subjects related to the impact of new technology on productivity using analysis of indicators for the Polish economy.

The volatility, complexity, uncertainty and ambiguity of processes and phenomena in the surroundings cause public, commercial and social organisations alike to seek ways to strengthen resilience. Taking into account, one of the characteristics of an organization - equifinality - various paths to achieve it are possible. Among others, increasing the organisation's resilience is linked to leadership, building community and trust, atention to individual development, and the teamwork that goes into it. These activities can lead to an increase in candidate interest in the organisation and elevate the motivation and commitment of its employees. The military, as an organisation with a clearly outlined mission, acting for the benefit of society, characterised by certain atributes of an employer, atracts the atention of representatives of different generations. When competing for candidates in the labor market, it has to face a number of challenges in the environment, including those related to the implementaon of new technologies to improve the efficiency of processes and maintain its status as an atractive employer. The article presents selected results of research on citizens' perceptions of the atributes of the military as an employer, the sources where information about the military as a workplace can be found, as well as the motives of potentially mobile-aged people when considering joining the service or taking up employment. Research utilising theoretical and empirical methods was carried out using Statistica v. 13.3 and R/RStudio v. 4.02.
As the world collectively looks to technology to drive sustainable transition and salvage what is left of our world, users are increasingly exposed to technological solutions claimed to drive sustainable transition. These solutions are rarely developed with an offset in their practice, and this is a challenge as technology can only aid in deconstructing the climate crisis if end-user practices are reflected in the technical solutions. Nothing is gained if no one is motivated or able to pick up these solutions. Sustainability is rarely used in conjunction with how end-users will adopt and utilize technology. Wasted or inefficient distribution of resources should be addressed to optimize and increase the chances of a green transition. This also holds for the maritime sector in Denmark, where technology development is limited to the applicability of technological artifacts without taking notice of end-user practices. This paper applies qualitative ethnographic research to show that there is a disconnect between, on the one hand, funders, technology developers, and decision-makers and, on the other hand, technology end-users and practitioners in the Danish maritime sector. The first does not consider the latter's perspective even though it is claimed important. We argue that if technology is to replace or assist any human practice and solve for example the climate crises, then knowledge of users’ practices must be key to developing technological solutions for sustainable development. During the ethnographic work, the stage of funding the development of sustainable technology was observed to be the very first point in the path of technological development, where user inclusion should be considered. Therein lies the connection to sustainability: If users are omitted, technology cannot effectively and positively assist sustainable transition.
