W artykule przedstawiono koncepcję integracji klasycznych pomiarów geodezyjnych i naziemnego skaningu laserowego (TLS) z modelowaniem w środowisku BIM (Autodesk Revit) w celu dokumentowania pionowości stalowego komina. Opracowana metoda integracji danych pomiarowych z modelem BIM zapewnia precyzyjną dokumentację stanu technicznego obiektu. Utworzony cyfrowy bliźniak komina umożliwia bieżący monitoring konstrukcji i wspomaga planowanie prac utrzymaniowych.

The article presents a concept for integrating classical geodetic measurements and terrestrial laser scanning (TLS) with Building Information Modeling (Autodesk Revit) to document the verticality of a steel chimney. Periodic geodetic measurements of the axis of an approximately 60-meter-high steel chimney were carried out using a tachymetric (total station) method and 3D terrestrial laser scanning, providing an accuracy on the order of 5 mm. Based on the acquired measurement data, a detailed 3D model of the structure was created in the BIM environment. The BIM model of the chimney should be supplemented with measurement results from different years, which will allow for the analysis of changes the geometry of the structure over time. The measurement results showed that the maximum deviation of the chimney’s axis from vertical at the top of the structure is about 50 mm. It was found that the observed deviations fall within the permissible limits according to the applicable standards. The developed method of integrating survey data with the BIM model provides precise documentation of the structure’s technical condition. The created digital twin of the chimney enables ongoing monitoring of the structure and supports the planning of maintenance work.
The article discusses the technical and conservation challenges of adapting the historic crypts of the Church of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross in Łuków. This church is an important example of Baroque architecture with great historical and cultural value. Over the years, the crypts suffered damage from external factors and long-term dampness, which made thorough restoration work necessary. The adaptation process, carried out in recent years, used advanced technologies such as laser scanning and required an interdisciplinary approach combining engineering, conservation, and architecture. The first step was a detailed survey of the crypts’ condition, which helped define the scope of work. The next steps included repairing walls, strengthening foundations, and protecting the structure from further damage. A key focus was preserving the authenticity of materials and the historical aesthetics of the site, which meant using methods that followed the principles of heritage protection. The project was inspired by similar successful adaptations in Poland and Europe that combined heritage preservation with modern functional needs. The planned goal of the project is to transform the crypts into an exhibition space while keeping their historic character. The article highlights the importance of a holistic approach, combining traditional conservation methods with modern technology, as a good example of protecting cultural heritage.

The paper presents the possibilities of using unmanned aerial systems to supervise the progress of construction works during the implementation of investment projects. Currently, drones are playing an increasingly important role in project management. In the opinion of the authors of the article, when developing documentation (in the form of 3D models or orthophoto maps) in real time from the construction site, drone laser scanning technology can significantly change the management of the entire construction process, from cost management, controlling potential investment risks, to increasing safety. On construction sites, responsible management of construction materials, devices and tools on the construction site, sustainable waste management in construction and obtaining information enabling optimal decision-making.
Currently, there is a rapid increase in interest in unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). These devices can be used as platform for carrying various sensors, often enabling access to hard-to-reach areas using traditional, ground-based methods. Very popular sensors used in non-invasive search work include Light Detection and Ranging (LiDAR) and Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR). The combination of the above sensors with UAVs is becoming increasingly common, which provides many benefits in many areas, such as archaeology, forensics, agriculture, rescue, terrain mapping, or landmine detection. This article is a synthetic review of the principle of operation and the use of technologies such as LiDAR and GPR, as well as their use on unmanned flying platforms. Issues related to the use of these sensors on various UAV configurations and the resulting conditions of work are discussed. The differences between LiDAR and GPR are also discussed, as well as the possible analysis of the examined area using both technologies to obtain the best effect. The implementation of these non-invasive search methods is not a threat to traditional searches in the form of excavations, but only a method preceding invasive research. Thanks to such an innovative approach, the effectiveness of such work is increased by narrowing the excavations area.

Opracowany model stanowił podstawę do tworzenia dokumentacji architektonicznej, możliwej do wykorzystania w przyszłych pracach restauracyjnych. Wykorzystanie technologii skanowania laserowego i modelowania HBIM okazało się skutecznym narzędziem do dokumentacji i ochrony zabytkowych obiektów. Metody te umożliwiają inwentaryzację i tworzenie modeli cyfrowych, przewyższających pod względem precyzji tradycyjne metody pomiarowe.

The castle chapel of the Sieniawski family in Brzeżany, a legacy of the former Commonwealth in Ukraine, needs urgent intervention due to its poor technical condition. Due to the geopolitical situation in the region, it is currently impossible to undertake rescue efforts to restore the chapel to its former glory. The research presented focused on two main aspects. First, an HBIM model was developed that takes into account the current technical state of the chapel. Second, a digital reconstruction of the chapel from the second half of the nineteenth century was carried out. The model formed the basis for drafting architectural documentation, which can in the future be used for restoration work. The use of laser scanning technology and HBIM modeling has proven to be an effective tool for the documentation and preservation of historical buildings. These methods make it possible to survey buildings and create digital models, surpassing traditional measurement methods in terms of precision.

3D urban building models play an important role in the association, convergence and integration of economic and social urban data. 3D building reconstruction can be done from both the lidar and image-based point clouds, however, the lidar point clouds has dominated the research giving the 3D buildings reconstruction from aerial images point clouds less attention. The UAV images can be acquired at low cost, the workflow can be automated with minimal technical knowhow limitation. This promotes the necessity to understand and question to what extent the 3D buildings from UAV point clouds are complete and correct from data processing to parameter settings. This study focuses on proposing a process for building 3D geospatial data for a smart city using geospatial data collected by UAV and Terrestrial Laser Scanner. The experimental results have produced 3D geospatial data of high building in LoD3, with the root mean square error of the received test points mΔx=3.8 cm, mΔy=3.1 cm, and mΔH=7.5 cm.
W niniejszym artykule podjęto problem pomiarów i modelowania istniejącego obiektu budowlanego z wykorzystaniem skaningu laserowego 3D.

Laser scanning 3D technology has almost unlimited opportunities of application in many disciplines of modern civil engineering. Obtaining a point cloud using laser scanning and creating 3D models allows producing a highly detailed 3D computer image of a measuring facility. Obtaining a cloud of points as a result of laser scanning and its use to create 3D models of building objects allows for the development of a detailed, three-dimensional image. The use of data obtained with this technology has not only a practical dimension, but also creates wide opportunities for conducting scientific research. It enables the development of inventory documentation, conducting structural analyses and supports the facility management process. In the paper, the problem of measurements and modelling of an existing building object with the use of 3D laser scanning was taken up. For this purpose, the so-called Scan-to-BIM methodology was used and, as a result, a 3D model of the analysed building was developed. Particular attention was paid to the assessment of object mapping errors. Direct measurements of selected geometry elements were made and deviations in relation to real dimensions were determined. Basic measures of statistical accuracy assessment were used to analyse the results. The obtained results showed that the accuracy of identifying the length of selected elements of the existing building and their length from the digital model is a maximum of ±1cm.

HBIM (HistoricalBIM/HeritageBIM).

The laser scanning technology is a commonly used method in the inventory of cultural objects. Continuous technological growth allows the use of complex digital 3D models by an increasing number of recipients. One of the varieties of model applications is the so-called HBIM (HistoricalBIM/HeritageBIM). In the article, we focused on the first stage of project management, which is inventory. The aim of the research is to determine the suitability of using 3D modeling for the purposes of analyzing cultural objects and analyzing the accuracy of the model. The lighting of the church was analyzed on the basis of the model. The presented method can be interpreted from a technical and humanistic point of view (in the case of the analysis of the sacred).
The shape of the surface of shell structures, measured by laser scanning, can be modelled using approximating spline functions. Since the 1990s, several modelling techniques have been developed: based on points, meshes, areas outlined on meshes, regions grouping areas with a similar structure. The most effective of them have been used in modern software, but their implementations differ significantly. The most important differences concern the accuracy of modelling, especially places with rapid shape changes, including edges. The differences also affect the mathematical complexity of the created model (the number of unknowns) and the time of its development. These factors contribute to the effectiveness of modelling. Some methods work fully automatically, others allow manual selection of certain parameters, there are also methods that require full manual control. Their selection and application is greatly affected by the user’s intuition and knowledge in the field of creating such surfaces. This study tested the influence of the above factors on the modelling efficiency. A total of six methods of creating spline surfaces were analysed in three software packages of different classes: Geomagic Design X, Solidworks and RhinoResurf. The analyses were carried out on a shell structure of complex shape, consisting of seven patches separated by edges. The created models were assessed in terms of their accuracy of fitting into the point cloud. Additionally, the complexity of the model expressed in the number of control points and the time of its development were determined. The results confirmed the validity of the four methods in terms of model fitting accuracy. The best results were achieved using the semi-automatic method in the most advanced software package and the manual method in the simplest package. This has confirmed the great importance of user experience in terms of theoretical properties of spline functions. However, complexity and development time did not show a direct relationship with the accuracy of the models created.

Został on pomierzony metodą skaningu laserowego, a scalona chmura punktów stanowiła podstawę do modelowania za pomocą funkcji sklejanych. Potwierdza to duże znaczenie doświadczenia użytkownika w zakresie teoretycznych własności funkcji sklejanych. Złożoność i czas opracowania nie wykazywały natomiast bezpośredniego związku z dokładnością tworzonych modeli.
The aim of the paper is to present some experiences of using modern technologies to historical buildings digitalization. The emphasis is placed on the possibilities of spatial data collecting, as well as on subsequent 3D modelling. The paper describes the proposed survey techniques which are based on the Terrestrial Laser Scanning and photogrammetry. The authors obtained the point cloud by using the laser scanner Faro Focus 3D and dedicated software to combine scans (target based and cloud to cloud methods). The paper also provides an introduction to issues related to a method of building structure modelling based on a point cloud. The authors proposed some computer software tools that could improve work with a point cloud and the modelling process. The resulting 3D model could be both a source of information about historical building and a sufficient base to create computational model with spatial finite elements. The subject of the case study is the St. Hubert Chapel located in Rzeszów (Poland) and built in the middle of the 18th century under the patronage of the Lubomirski family. This rococo chapel is one of the most valuable architectural monuments in the region. Historical Building Information Model (HBIM) could be helpful in analysis, visualisations and conservation practice of this precious monument. Diagnosing the current object state and assessing its technical condition could be the purpose of creating a computational FEM model.

The article presents the currently used methods of thermovision inspection, focusing on preventive diagnostics of the transmission network. Thermal imaging has different ways of influencing energy efficiency. It is used to inspect the condition of thermal insulation in buildings, influencing the awareness that the conserved energy is the saved energy, on the other hand, it is a tool for distribution and transmission network operators, reducing the probability of power infrastructure elements failure. With the growing sector of thermo-inspection services caused by the accessibility of thermal imaging cameras and the possibilities associated with them, i.e. thermal imaging scanning, the next step is to implement the data into the object life cycle in BIM and CMS.
