Fundamentalne zmiany zachodzące w europejskim systemie elektroenergetycznym (SEE), wynikające z transformacji energetycznej, prowadzą do wzrostu złożoności w kontroli i prowadzeniu ruchu.

Fundamental changes taking place in the European Power System, resulting from the energy transformation, are leading to increased complexity in control and operation activity. In response to these challenges, transmission system operators (TSOs) are implementing wide-area monitoring systems (WAMS) as a key tool supporting the security and stability of the power system operation. This article presents current operator experiences with implementing PMUs and WAMS, with particular emphasis on regional data exchange platforms between TSOs, which enable joint monitoring of system phenomena in real time and ex-post event analysis. Examples of the use of open-source platforms developed by companies such as PSE, 50Hertz, and Statnett, supporting the development of analytical tools in the WAMS area, are also discussed. In the context of the growing need to integrate data and alarms from various systems, plans to connect warning signals from WAMS with SCADA/EMS were presented, which is aimed at increasing operational efficiency and fast response in case of events threatening the stability of the power system. The possibilities of the synchrophasor technique are extended by waveform measurements of voltage and current WMU (Waveform Measurement Unit), thanks to which it is possible to capture fast and complex dynamic phenomena in the power system, which may be not recognised by standard synchrophasor measurements.

Artykuł przedstawia ramy koncepcyjne zastosowania mechanizmów inferencji i dezambiguacji semantycznej w kontekście modelowania budynków wraz z ich otoczeniem przestrzennym w oparciu o otwarty i niezależny standard Industry Foundation Classes (IFC). Praca omawia mechanizmy inferencji i dezambiguacji, umożliwiające automatyczne wzbogacanie modeli BIM w interoperacyjnym formacie IFC o informacje dotyczące relacji budynku z terenem, sieciami uzbrojenia, zielenią czy ograniczeniami planistycznymi.

The article presents a conceptual framework for the application of inference and semantic disambiguation mechanisms in the context of modeling buildings and their spatial surroundings based on the open and independent Industry Foundation Classes (IFC). The IFC scheme offers rich possibilities for representing not only the building itself, but also its surroundings, i.e., the terrain, technical infrastructure, small architecture, and spatial relationships with the surroundings. In practice, these possibilities are underutilized because BIM models often end at the building boundary, and links to surrounding objects are not defined. The paper discusses inference and disambiguation mechanisms that enable the automatic enrichment of BIM models in the interoperable IFC format with information about the relationship between the building and the terrain, utility networks, greenery, and planning restrictions. These considerations are set in the context of the latest IFC4.3 standard classes, with particular emphasis on solutions for technical infrastructure and elements of the surroundings.

The article presents the Health Checker tool for automatic data quality control in BIM models. Rapid technological development generates the need to integrate BIM systems with GIS, and ensuring high quality source data becomes a key challenge. The developed tool, implemented as a plug-in for leading BIM software (Autodesk Revit) in the pyRevit environment, enables automatic detection of common errors and incompleteness in data that may negatively affect export processes to interoperable formats (GML, IFC) and integration with GIS systems. The analysis introduces a Health Score metric (0-100), allowing for an objective assessment of the quality of the BIM model. The current version of the tool performs checks covering the correctness of element naming and the occurrence of system warnings, which are key data quality indicators affecting export and integration processes. Validation of the tool on 20 real BIM models showed an average quality score of 82/100, with the most common problem being elements without assigned names (an average of 875 cases per project) and an average number of active warnings of 16 per model. The research confirmed that systematic BIM data quality control using the developed tool can significantly improve the accuracy and completeness of data transferred to GIS and 3D/4D cadastre systems. The tool is a practical solution supporting the process of spatial data digitisation and BIM-GIS integration.

W artykule zaproponowano koncepcyjny model Internetu Rzeczy jako infrastruktury semantycznej, umożliwiający integrację danych sensorycznych z rozproszonymi systemami wiedzy w architekturze edge–cloud.

The rapid growth of the Internet of Things (IoT) leads to an increasing volume of data generated by distributed sensing devices. These data are heterogeneous, context-dependent, and structurally diverse, which makes their integration and analysis challenging. This paper proposes a conceptual model of IoT as a semantic infrastructure, enabling the integration of sensor data with distributed knowledge systems in edge–cloud environments. The proposed approach leverages semantic technologies, including RDF, OWL, and SSN/SOSA ontologies, to provide unified data representation and contextual enrichment. The integration of semantic modeling with edge–cloud architecture enables efficient distributed data processing, reduces latency, and improves system scalability. As a result, the proposed model enhances interoperability and supports the development of intelligent, adaptive, and autonomous IoT systems.

The Architecture, Engineering, and Construction (AEC) industry has significantly advanced with the development of Building Information Modeling (BIM) software. However, AEC companies continue to face challenges related to interoperability and collaboration due to the heterogeneous nature of software tools. Various alternatives, such as Industry Foundation Classes (IFC), have been employed to address these issues, but their effectiveness remains limited. In current practice, many architecture firms use Rhino 3D for design, while BIM software such as Revit or Archicad is required for documentation and data management. This workflow presents significant limitations in data exchange, as Revit and Archicad often struggle to interpret Rhino models, importing them as direct shape that cannot be modified natively. This paper introduces a Grasshopper script designed to automate the creation of Revit elements such as walls, floors, windows, and doors from Rhino models using Rhino.Inside.Revit (RIR). While RIR allows the direct conversion of Rhino elements into Revit shapes, the proposed script enhances this process by generating native Revit elements from Rhino Brep geometry. The script functions in two key steps: first, it analyses the boundaries of wall elements in Rhino to automatically create Revit levels; second, it examines the boundaries of architectural components (walls, floors, windows, and doors) in Rhino to generate corresponding Revit family types and accurately place these elements in Revit at the exact coordinates from Rhino 3D using RIR nodes. This workflow improves architectural design efficiency and enables architects to maintain better control over their designs by leveraging BIM capabilities such as quantity take-offs and data management. Additionally, the script can function as a live synchronization tool, automatically updating any modifications made to Rhino elements within the Revit environment. Despite its effectiveness, the script has limitations when handling complex architectural geometries, such as double-curved surfaces. Addressing these challenges will be a focus of future research.

The modernization of the Bulgarian railways has been underway for over 20 years. Hundreds of kilometres have been rehabilitated with funds from the European Union. The aim is to join the main Trans-European network, according to Regulation No. 1315/2013 [1] of the EU. Given the complex mountainous relief, the specific engineering objects are now the design and construction of a large number of tunnels (in the Sofia-Plovdiv section alone, over 16 tunnels are planned, the longest of which is 6 km long); the design and construction of railway bridges, some of which have unique dimensions; the rehabilitation of bridges; and the construction of drainage facilities, including drains, ditches, and culverts (some of the culverts have a unique length of about 80 m). The report analyses the main railway projects with a critical analysis of strengths and weaknesses, according to the EU cost-benefit analysis methodology. The analysis presented in this report is unique for Bulgarian railways, as it includes a large volume of projects in the field of designing and building railway infrastructure according to European and world rules, which have not been used in Bulgaria until now. This is only the first stage of scientific research, which involves collecting data, examining the data, and building a working hypothesis. After the completion of the construction (supposedly by around 2029), there will be measurements of the railway and a diagnosis of its condition. At this time, data will be collected again, and the credibility of the presented hypotheses will be verified. The conclusions will serve for the more adequate preparation of the technical assignments for future infrastructure projects in the field of railways.

The investment and construction process in Poland is undergoing profound digitization. BIM is being used in many phases and at various stages of this process. In theory and practice, one highlights that BIM is not 3D CAD, that BIM is distinguished by a wealth of non-geometric data, that BIM gives a competitive advantage. After nearly two decades of BIM development, the questions arise: What are the main components of BIM? What clearly distinguishes it from CAD? What made it separate from CAD? The article attempts to answer these questions adequately through a deep study of the literature. Based on the latest research and state of the art, three constitutive features of BIM – parametricity, interoperability and multidimensionality – have been established. Knowledge of their relevancy and in-depth understanding can lead to improved efficiency and productivity of the AECOO industry.

This paper proposes a new blockchain-based transaction verification infrastructure for co-payment and data verification for multi-modal public transportation systems. Our solution offers a decentralized platform that ensures secure co-payments and data integrity while addressing interoperability, data security and transactional transparency. With a private blockchain, transportation providers act as nodes and validated, consensus-approved transactions increase trust and transparency. A standardized data format and robust algorithms for data contribution by transport operators are developed as well as a model for operators, assets, and transactions. Including zero-knowledge proofs improves user privacy by allowing secure authentication without revealing sensitive data. We believe that this research may lead a closer collaboration between public transport operators and provide an enhanced user experience while enabling transport transaction security and data verification.

With the widespread of systems incorporating multiple deep learning models, ensuring interoperability between target models has become essential. However, due to the unreliable performance of existing model conversion solutions, it is still challenging to ensure interoperability between the models developed on different deep learning frameworks. In this paper, we propose a systematic method for verifying interoperability between pre- and post-conversion deep learning models based on the validation and verification approach. Our proposed method ensures interoperability by conducting a series of systematic verifications from multiple perspectives. The case study confirmed that our method successfully discovered the interoperability issues that have been reported in deep learning model conversions.

This article presents the safety management issue in rail transport in the context of the principles defined in the European Union regulations, i.e., the Common Safety Methods (CSM) dedicated to risk assessment. It describes regulations applicable to the process of risk assessment process including risk analysis and evaluation. The most important challenges related to the application of risk assessment methods are also presented in the article. The regulations of the European Union do not precisely define the way in which risk assessment should be carried out in an organisation. Furthermore, the legislation only requires a risk assessment process to be carried out following a change to the railway system if such a change is assessed as a 'significant change'. This aspect remains problematic in the railway system, due to the considerable discretion left to the railway companies in their approach to conducting assessments of the significance of a change and the low percentage of so-called “significant changes”. As shown by some railway accidents and reports of the State Commission for Investigation of Railway Accidents, omissions in the process of risk assessment and inconsistency of approach of various undertakings to analogous situations may lead to an uncontrolled increase in the level of risk in railway transport.

Objectives: Due to the diversity, volume, and distribution of ingested data, the majority of current healthcare entities operate independently, increasing the problem of data processing and interchange. The goal of this research is to design, implement, and evaluate an electronic health record (EHR) interoperability solution - prototype - among healthcare organizations, whether these organizations do not have systems that are prepared for data sharing, or organizations that have such systems. Methods: We established an EHR interoperability prototype model named interoperability smart lane for electronic health record (islEHR), which comprises of three modules: 1) a data fetching APIs for external sharing of patients’ information from participant hospitals; 2) a data integration service, which is the heart of the islEHR that is responsible for extracting, standardizing, and normalizing EHRs data leveraging the fast healthcare interoperability resources (FHIR) and artificial intelligence techniques; 3) a RESTful API that represents the gateway sits between clients and the data integration services. Results: The prototype of the islEHR was evaluated on a set of unstructured discharge reports. The performance achieved a total time of execution ranging from 0.04 to 84.49 s. While the accuracy reached an F-Score ranging from 1.0 to 0.89. Conclusions: According to the results achieved, the islEHR prototype can be implemented among different heterogeneous systems regardless of their ability to share data. The prototype was built based on international standards and machine learning techniques that are adopted worldwide. Performance and correctness results showed that islEHR outperforms existing models in its diversity as well as correctness and performance.
