The article presents the COLCON system, which is based on temperature monitoring during the early stage of concrete mix curing, using multi-level decision-making on three fundamental levels (and in multiple stages): planning based on seasonality coefficients, eliminating disturbance effects through the use of passive flexibility (resilience) by applying appropriate modifications to the concrete mix, and active flexibility (adaptability) – taking into account the possibility of controlling the heating of the element based on monitoring, weather forecasting, and simulation of the concrete strength development process in the event of a pessimistic scenario. The developed system was used in laboratory tests and on a construction site, and the collected data served to generate decision rules based on learning from examples using specialized RapidMiner software, employing Decision Tree and Random Forest algorithms.

The developmentof the construction industry has led to increased requirements for the operational properties of building materials in general and concrete in particular. Although concrete is designed primarily to withstand structural loads, it must also resist environmental influences to increase its durability. This article presents the results of the influence of the components of protective coatings on the hydro-physical properties of concrete. The edge wetting angle in concrete with a protective coating ranges from 95 to 101 degrees, which is about twice that of uncoated concrete. The mass of concrete under the influence of hygroscopicmoisture increases, and after 30 days of exposure, it is 1.1–1.6 wt. % compared to 5.7–5.8 wt. % for controlsamples. The minimum increase (1.1–1.2 wt. %) is achieved when using coatings with the largest amount of heat-resistant varnish KO-08. The water absorption of the developed coating compositions decreases after 30 days of being in water from 5.2 to 1.6–2.2 wt. % for C20/25 concrete. Low temperatures negatively affect the hydrophysical properties of protective coatings, but only slightly. It has been found that water absorption increases by approximately 20 %.

Rozwój przemysłu budowlanego doprowadził do zwiększenia wymagań dotyczących właściwości eksploatacyjnych materiałów budowlanych, a w szczególności betonu.

To improve the aging resistance and prolong the service life of asphalt pavement, this study utilized modified multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) functionalized with carboxyl (MWCNTs-COOH), hydroxyl (MWCNTs-OH), and amino (MWCNTs-NH2) groups. These nanotubes were incorporated into SBS-modified asphalt at a concentration of 1%. The study sought to examine the impact of MWCNTs and their functional groups on asphalt’s rheological and anti-aging characteristics, alongside exploring their modification mechanisms. The findings indicated that rheological tests showed that MWCNTs/SBS composite-modified asphalt, particularly MWCNTs-OH/SBS, exhibited remarkable resistance to high-temperature deformation, a crucial characteristic for asphalt performance in hot climates. Nevertheless, it is important to note that the addition of MWCNTs led to an increase in asphalt’s creep strength and creep rate, which could potentially reduce its resistance to low-temperature cracking. However, the covalent functionalization of MWCNTs mitigated these adverse effects on low-temperature performance. Moreover, the inclusion of MWCNTs in asphalt served as a barrier, impeding the penetration of oxygen molecules and ultraviolet radiation into the asphalt matrix. This proved to be an effective means of inhibiting the aging process, a critical factor in extending the service life of asphalt pavement. Among the different formulations of MWCNTs modified asphalt, the MWCNTs-OH/SBS composite-modified asphalt exhibited notably effective anti-aging properties. Both rheological and anti-aging evaluations demonstrated that hydroxyl functional groups played a pivotal role in enhancing performance, chiefly by fostering interactions with asphalt molecules.

One of the main causes of road pavement distress are low temperatures, and hence the need to thoroughly study the low temperature performance of all bituminous materials used in road construction. The purpose of this study was to determine the performance of alternative and conventional bituminous mixtures in the temperature range between -25°C and -10°C using for this purpose the Tensile Creep Test (TCT). The low-temperature performance data were evaluated using the Burgers model, a tool that is widely used for evaluation of bituminous mixtures. This research focuses on bridge paving mixtures. These included both conventional (mastic asphalt) and alternative (SMA-MA) materials. It was established, based on the test results and their analysis, that low temperature performance of a bituminous mixture is influenced, in the first place, by the characteristics of the asphalt binder it contains. Furthermore, SMA-MA mixtures showed better low temperature performance than conventional, mastic asphalt type mixtures.

Do oceny parametrów niskotemperaturowych wykorzystano szeroko stosowany do oceny mieszanek mineralno-asfaltowych model Burgersa.

2-((2-(decyloxy)ethyl)amino)lauric acid (C10H21CH(NH(CH2)3OC10H21)COOH, (LDEA), a novel amphoteric surfactant, has been first utilized as the collector for on-site the reverse flotation of Anqian mixed magnetic concentrates. The separation performances were investigated systematically by flotation conditioning tests, open-circuit flowsheet experiment, and locked cycle flowsheet test. The flotation condition test's results showed that the optimal roughing conditions were pulp pH of 10, starch dosage 1000 g/Mg, and LDEA dosage of 500 g/Mg at 25 °C. Under the optimized flotation conditions, through one roughing - three scavengings locked cycle flowsheet, the iron concentrate with a total iron grade of 68.08% and recovery of 88.20% was obtained. In contrast, the iron grade of the tailings was only 12.32%. Compared with the flotation results of anionic commercial surfactant RA-715 used as the collector, the LDEA has a better separation performance. The iron grade and recovery increased by 0.07% and 0.86% in the iron concentrate, and the grade of the tailings decreased 3.72%, respectively. Besides, the LDEA possesses more advantages, such as a simple flotation process, no activator (CaO) addition, lower collector consumption, and lower pulp temperature. The study revealed that the novel amphoteric surfactant LDEA was an effective flotation collector with good collecting and separation ability on natural iron ores at a comparatively lower temperature.

Studies have shown that rubberised concrete is a potential pavement material. Pavement materials are generally expected to possess concrete with high impact resistance, especially in regions where winter temperatures remain lower than the freezing point for long periods. However, knowledge about the performance of rubberised concrete on impact under low temperatures is still limited. In this study, experiments were conducted to evaluate the compressive strength, elasticity modulus, bending strength, and impact resistance of rubberised concrete at room temperature (20 °C) and at a sub-zero temperature (− 20 °C). Meanwhile, a new U-shaped specimen drop-weight test was performed as an impact test. The results indicated that although the impact toughness of both rubberised and plain concrete types decreased at low temperatures, rubber particles also had positive effects on concrete impact resistance at − 20 °C. In addition to macroscopic tests, mercury injection and molecular dynamics simulations were performed to understand the mechanism through which rubber particles improve the impact resistance of concrete at low temperatures. The pores that could not freeze accounted for 1.55% of the total pores in plain concrete; this value was 2.36% in concrete with a rubber particle density of 50 kg/m3. From the results of this study, we can conclude that the addition of rubber can change the distribution of water or ice in concrete pores, which leads to an improvement in the toughness of concrete at a low temperature (- 20 °C).

To date, CoAl2O4 has become a crucial pigment of ceramic decoration because of the rapid development of ceramic ink-jet technology. In this work, copper ions (10 mol%) doped CoAl2O4 blue pigment has been prepared by combustion method. Different to conventional CoAl2O4 pigment synthesized at high temperature (> 1000 °C), the synthesis temperature of Cu0.1Co0.9Al2O4 blue pigment is only 700 °C. Herein, we shed light on the underlying reasons of low temperature synthesis by investigating effects of heating temperature on the phase composition, microstructure and chromatic value. This study provides a low-cost and low-energy approach to the preparation of blue ceramic pigment. Using this strategy, the addition of Co can be reduced by 10% and the synthesis temperature can be reduced by more the 300 °C.

W niniejszej pracy przygotowano metodą spalania niebieski pigment CoAl2O4 domieszkowany jonami miedzi (10% mol.). Badanie to zapewnia tanie i energooszczędne podejście do przygotowania niebieskiego pigmentu ceramicznego. Stosując tę strategię, dodatek Co można zmniejszyć o 10%, a temperaturę syntezy można obniżyć o więcej niż 300 °C.

In this paper small punch test (SPT) which is one of miniaturized samples technique, was employed to characterize the mechanical properties of carbon steel P110. The tests were carried out in the range of -175°C to RT. Results obtained for SPT were compared to those calculated for tensile and Charpy impact test. Based on tensile and SPT parameters numerical model was prepared. 8 mm in diameter and 0.8 mm in height (t) discs with and without notch were employed in this research. The specimens had different depth notch (a) in the range of 0.1 to 0.4 mm. It was estimated that α factor for comparison of Tsp and DBTT for carbon steel P110 is 0.55 and the linear relation is DBTT = 0.55TSPT. The numerical model fit with force – deflection curve of SPT. If the factor of notch depth and samples thickness is higher than 0.3 the fracture mode is transformed from ductile to brittle at -150°C.

For the polymeric materials, changing of the temperature causes changes in mechanical and tribological properties of sliding pairs. The goal of the present study was to determine the change in Young's modulus and kinetic friction coefficient depending of the temperature. Three thermoplastic polymers, PA6, PET and PEEK, were tested. These materials cooperated in sliding motion with a C45 construction steel disc. As part of the experiment, the Young's modulus tests (by 3-point bending method) and kinetic friction coefficient studies (using pin-on-disc stand) were carried out. The temperature range of mechanical and tribological tests was determined at T = –50°C±20°C. Comparing the results of mechanical and tribological properties, there is a tendency to decrease the coefficient of friction as the Young's modulus increases while reducing the working temperature.

Porównując wyniki badań własności mechanicznych z właściwościami tribologicznymi, można zauważyć tendencję do zmniejszenia wartości współczynnika tarcia wraz ze wzrostem modułu Younga podczas obniżania temperatury otoczenia.

This papers deals with the character on low (−180 °C) temperature fracture of iron. Microcrystalline and ultrafine-grained (UFG) iron rods were investigated. To obtain UFG material 20 mm in diameter iron rod was hydrostatically extruded (HE) in two steps: from 20 to 12 mm and from 12 to 8 mm. Because of microstructure anisotropy caused by HE mini-disc and mini-beam samples were cut off from perpendicular and longitudinal cross-section of the rods. Microcrystalline rod fractured in brittle manner at low temperature for both cross-sections, but in UFG iron fracture character depended on grain's shape. For samples were crack propagates parallel to the grain's elongation axis intercrystalline fracture occurred. For mini-beams were crack propagates crosswise to the grain elongation axis transcrystalline fracture occurred and force deflection curve was similar to those obtained for room temperature.

Celem artykułu jest ocena wpływu obniżonej temperatury na wybrane właściwości zapraw do naprawy konstrukcji betonowych. Do badań wytypowano dwie zaprawy przeznaczone do napraw konstrukcji betonowych.
