Purpose: The phenomenon of quiet quitting has gained significant popularity in public discourse and on social media, especially in the aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic. It refers to performing only those tasks that are formally part of one’s job description, without putting in extra effort, working overtime, or “going above and beyond.” Quiet quitting does not mean physically leaving one’s job, but rather giving up the identification of one’s self-worth with productivity. The aim of this study is to determine whether quiet quitting is a temporary trend or a lasting shift that will influence perceptions of job responsibilities and workplace relationships. Design/methodology/approach: In addition to a literature review, the study draws on survey data from 162 active respondents across three generations: X, Y, and Z. The Cramer's V coefficient was used to analyze the relationships between the survey variables, and their statistical significance was tested. Findings: The survey results reveal significant generational differences in attitudes toward various aspects of work in the context of quiet quitting. Younger generations place greater emphasis on well-being, work-life balance, and independence, which can lead them to disengage from excessive involvement in situations that do not meet their expectations. In contrast, older generations tend to adhere to a more traditional approach, valuing loyalty to the employer and a willingness to make sacrifices for career advancement. Originality/value: This study provides a timely and relevant perspective on one of the most widely discussed phenomena in today’s labor market. It presents quiet quitting not as a fleeting trend, but as a reflection of deeper changes in employees’ expectations toward employers. The findings can serve as a valuable resource for HR departments and organizational leaders in developing strategies to manage employee engagement and satisfaction.

Purpose: The purpose of this article is to understand how representatives of different generations (Baby Boomers, Generation X, Generation Y, and Generation Z) view organizational leadership in the context of the challenges posed by Industry 4.0. The authors want to assess whether there are common leadership qualities valued by all generations, despite differences based on generational affiliation. Design/methodology/approach: The study was conducted using a survey questionnaire aimed at people involved in decision-making processes in Polish companies. The analysis was based on descriptive statistics, which made it possible to assess the responses and compare the results among selected generational groups. Findings: The results indicate different approaches to leadership depending on generational affiliation. All generations agreed that leadership is crucial, but differ in their priorities. Baby Boomers value leader adaptation, Generation X emphasizes values, Generation Y focuses on success, and Generation Z focuses on diverse leadership competencies. Research limitations/implications: The survey is limited to Polish organizations, which may affect the generalizability of the results to other countries. The sample is small, especially for Generation Z, which may limit a fuller understanding of their perspectives. Originality/value: The article provides unique findings on the differences and similarities in leadership perceptions among the four generations. It points to the need for a flexible management approach that takes into account specific generational needs in the era of Industry 4.0.

Purpose: This paper explores the drivers for employee motivation in the IT sector in Poland. Specifically, it focuses on differences in what motivates employees belonging to generations X, Y and Z. Design/methodology/approach: This study, rooted in existing international literature around the topic of employee motivation, draws on 16 semi-structured interviews performed in May and June 2023 with senior managers and human resources representatives working in IT sector in Poland. The data was analysed using MAXQDA software. Findings: The findings of the qualitative section of this study are conformant with previous research from other sectors that the major motivation factors are finance and growth possibilities, when it comes to IT sector in Poland. However, it stresses that for the finance induced motivation boost to last it needs to be combined with growth. Also, generational differences between motivation factors were identified. The findings indicate to managers that motivation factors such as finance should not be treated in separation, but they should be accompanied by an adequate increase in responsibility and that for various generations different forms of employment could facilitate the motivating process. Research limitations/implications: The conclusions were formulated taking into account the sample’s limitations. The qualitative study was limited to the group of 16 respondents who despite having experience from multiple companies, at the time of the interviews worked for the same company: Atos Group. Therefore, this research can encourage further reflection on employee motivation in the IT sector. Originality/value: The systematic literature review indicated that the subject of employee motivation factors had not been undertaken in the context of Polish IT sector specificity.

Purpose: The article's primary goal is to identify important competencies of different generations essentials at remote work based on COVID-19 pandemic opinions and experiences. Design/methodology/approach: The research was quantitative, using an original survey questionnaire. Frequency and percentage statistics, coupled with descriptive parametric analyses, were utilized in the statistical assessment. The Kruskal-Wallis test and hierarchical clustering analysis were fundamental to the research methodology. The target sample included 690 participants representing four generations (BB, X, Y and Z) working remotely during the pandemic. Findings: The results of the research show that: the essential competencies in remote work are the ability to manage one's own time, independent problem solving, openness to new technologies, and high motivation and commitment; different generations have differences in the assessment of competencies that are desirable for remote work; in the vast majority of cases, the importance of competencies that predispose an employee to remote work increases with age. Research limitations/implications: Given the constraints of the research sample, it is imperative to exercise caution when generalizing the research outcomes. Practical implications: The authors recommend to HR departments and managers: develop remote work patterns that are adequate to the employees' competencies, needs, and expectations; ensure the quality and effectiveness of intergenerational communication during remote work. Moreover HR should take care of the development of those competencies whose role and importance in remote work were rated the highest in respondents' opinions - the ability to manage one's own time, independent problem-solving, openness to new technologies, and high motivation and commitment. This research underscores the importance of formulating appropriate training policies and human management strategies. Originality/value: This paper is original and presents a suitable contribution to human resource management theory and practice. The results presented in the paper are new. This study offers insights into areas necessitating support and underscores the importance of formulating appropriate training policies and human management strategies.

Employee motivation is a key aspect of management, especially in today's competitive and turbulent environment. Changes brought about by factors such as the pandemic and the war in Ukraine influence the motivation of Polish workers. Therefore, further research in this area is necessary. The aim of this investigation is to discuss motivation in the context of generational differences and to indicate directions for further research in this field. The research is based on the analysis of both domestic and foreign literature. Currently, the main areas of research in the field of work motivation include topics related to leadership or innovation. The issue of generational differences has received less research attention. The number of publications found and their content indicate the need for further inquiry into motivation, taking into account generational differences. The results of the study can serve as a background for considering motivation systems used in organizations in post-pandemic conditions and as a direction for further empirical research in Poland.

Given the rise in the demand for organic foods around the globe, South Africa has witnessed an increase in the demand for both organisational practices that are safer and more sustainable, as well as organic products. Given the increased demand for organic products, it may be assumed that the prices associated with organic products should start to witness a price reduction, simultaneously increasing the number of organic products being purchased. Consumers' purchase intentions concerning organic products may be influenced by their health consciousness, environmental knowledge consumers possess, their subsequent environmental concern, their attitudes towards organic products, their subjective norms and their perceived behavioural control. As such, this study aims to determine the factors that influence the purchase intentions of South African Generation Y consumers towards organic food products. The sample for this study was taken from across the nine provinces of South Africa and included 500 Generation Y consumers. The data was collected using a market research organisation. The target market for this study constituted South African Generation Y consumers, ranging in age from 18 to 35 years. As per the findings, health consciousness, environmental knowledge, attitudes towards organic products and perceived behavioural control positively influence organic food purchase intentions. However, subjective norms had a non-significant influence. Finally, the environmental concerns of Generation Y consumers negatively influenced organic food purchase intentions. These results are somewhat perplexing as the findings go against the current literature in some instances. As such, South African marketers and organisations may have to re-evaluate their organic product offerings to this cohort.

Purpose: The purpose of this article is to present the consumer behavior of two generations -Y and Z - in the tourism market and to show how the concept of wellbeing tourism fits the needs and expectations of the two analyzed groups. Design/Methods/Approach: The article used a systematic literature review based on the SCOPUS database. A search for the term "wellbeing" in abstracts, titles and as keywords identified 107 571 articles. After applying search restrictions to the term "wellbeing tourism" and "social sciences," 12 articles were identified. After reviewing the content, only 9 articles referred to the concept under discussion, indicating a significant unstructured research gap in this area. The article further includes excerpts from reports and analyses, conducted as part of projects, on the implementation of wellbeing tourism in the South Baltic region. Findings: Critical analysis of the literature and experience gained from wellbeing tourism projects revealed challenges of a socio-demographic and technological nature. These challenges result from changes in the macro-environment and are closely interrelated. For example, the changing attitudes of representatives of generations Y and Z toward tourism are closely related to their increased awareness of the importance of wellbeing in their lives. In addition, the development of digital marketing is closely related to the growing popularity of these services among young buyers. Research limitations: The authors described tourists from generations Y and Z, in terms of their approach to wellbeing tourism. It should be noted that dynamic changes in the environment may affect the emergence of new behaviors that are not presented in the article. Therefore, there is a need to develop future research using qualitative and quantitative methods to develop a more accurate picture of the groups studied in terms of their evaluation of wellbeing offerings. Practical/social implications: The article can help tourism companies understand the behavior of Generation Y and Z tourists and identify solutions that can contribute to the preparation of wellbeing offers that meet their expectations. Originality/Value: A systematic review of the literature and an analysis of its content allowed the creation of a compendium of knowledge on wellbeing tourism aimed at generations Y and Z. In addition, steps have been taken to consolidate this approach within management science. These activities will likely make it possible to direct perspectives on the perception of this phenomenon, and also to sort out the conceptual chaos in this area. The review of the issues and the general and synthetic considerations carried out are part of the stream of studies on consumer behaviour.

In order to ensure the highest level of maritime travel safety, standards and rules are applied aimed at eliminating potential risks. In view of changes in the environment – as a result of, among others, the Covid-19 pandemic and Russia’s aggression against Ukraine – it has become necessary to verify expec-tations and preferences towards the provision of maritime transport services from the perspective of its users, representing generation Y. A key factor for evaluating cruise maritime service in the situation of current threats was identi-fied to achieve the objective of this study. At the same time, groups of factors responsible for the emergence of threats to travelers were identified, and pro-posals for measures to increase confidence in maritime transportation were evaluated from the perspective of the surveyed participants.

W artykule opisano znaczenie wyników badań w poszerzaniu obecnego stanu wiedzy o generacjach aktywnych zawodowo.

In the article, the underexplored topic of the effectiveness of gamification-based activities on employees from generation X and generation Y is examined. The results of the empirical study, which compared the attitude of representatives of these generations towards the utilization of gamification in modern organizations, are presented. A questionnaire used in the current research was supplemented with a case study describing a situation when gamification was used in practice. The obtained results indicate that the generation Y representatives were more firmly convinced that gamification can bring desired results and that its effectiveness is greater in the case of younger employees. Representatives of the analyzed generational groups did not differ in terms of how positive their attitude towards gamification was. The article adds to the current state of knowledge about generations active on the labor market and modern motivating methods.

This paper seeks to examine and explore the strategic approach towards Generation Y in the municipalities of selected cities in Poland. The question at hand was if the needs of this generation are explicitly reflected and addressed in the strategic documents. A sample of 67 documents from 21 cities was used and an assessment scoring tool was developed. The research allowed for the indication of a number of barriers that need to be addressed in the design of city strategies. To explore the opportunities for creative and innovative companies’ development to be key resources for urban entrepreneurship, it is crucial to increase awareness among decision makers in local governments aimed at better catering to the needs of Millennials.

The article presents an analysis of competences and attitudes of the new generations currently entering the labour market (Generations Y and Z) in the context of the challenges of the modern job market. The analysis was carried out on the basis of surveys, thanks to which recommendations were formulated regarding the use of the competences of this generation by employers in the wider context of corporate social responsibility (CSR). The widespread digitalisation of reality (cloud talent management) and the competences and attitudes of the new generation determine the change in employers' approach to attracting, developing and retaining employees. As a result, the concept of Corporate Social Responsibility shifts the focus to the internal stakeholders of the organisation. Consequently, a debate begins on the legitimacy of implementing a new turquoise management model.

Content available remote Idea samodoskonalenia w koncepcji zarządzania 4.0
PL
Powyższe uwarunkowania zachęciły autorkę do podjęcia próby zdefiniowania pojęcia „samodoskonalenie”.

For a long time insurers have been looking for an answer to the question: how to attract young people with life insurance and motivate them to make a decision and buy the policy? It is not an easy task, particularly, because at a young age people do not think about the old age yet, convinced that it is remote time for them. The aim of the article is to present specific features of Generation Y, their needs and expectations and ways of taking decisions about retirement security. Such knowledge will allow the insurance business to better adjust to the needs of this customer segment which they would really like to attract.
