Content available remote Analysis of the Pitch Circle Runout in Involute Splined Connections
EN
The paper presents measuring methods of the pitch circle runout of involute splines and determination of the roundness deviation of the pitch circle from its runout results. The analysis of the influence of the runout on the tooth thickness, pitch and profile deviations is also shown. It was pointed out that the most characteristic roundness deviation is a pitch circle ovality of internal involute spline. This type of deviation often occurs for the parts with high hardness of material. The ovality is the reason for unequal contact depth of teeth and irregularity of interference or backlash.

The quality of connection has an essential influence on the quality of the whole machine. The authors conducted an estimation of the influence of geometrical profile (in tolerance area) on the quality of shaft and hub connection. Values of displacements of construction elements, reduced and contact stresses were accepted as quality criterion.

During design of new machine element there must be described the function, which must be satisfied. Depending on designed function and loads designer selects geometrical parameters, which has to provide a proper cooperation, and especially fits. Constructor during design of new connection does not have knowledge about the influence of value of fit on stresses of elements of connection. For full identification of connections with the same types of fits there were created two calculation models for selected fits: first one for upper deviation of hole and lower deviation of shaft, and second one for lower deviation of hole and upper deviation of shaft. From the simulations and calculations there were obtained a few sets of results. Designer is interested in getting reduced stresses according to Huber-Misses hypothesis, displacements and distribution of contact stresses on mating surfaces.

Manufacturing errors of shape connection elements and also assembly errors (random assembly) cause that the state of connection is different from made constructional assumptions. Superposition of errors manifests in reduction of connection functionality, and in consequence loss of technological-operating capability. Hence results the necessity of change of approach to shape connections design. One of essential operation tendencies is objectivization of contact surface of mating elements. In order to conduct it there must be connected the achievements of modern measuring and computing technique, which will allow to fits modelling so as to develop the decision about the selection of idea of design solution.

Content available remote The Development of Axial Symmetrical Splined Connections Design
EN
In this article there are presented problems connected to shape and positioning deviations of involute splined connections. Basing on carried out researchers of roundness and cylindricity deviations of spline shafts there were made some simulations of different combinations of shape deviations. For a connection of ideal internal spline with external spline having simulated particular shape deviation there was carried out design analysis of the splined connections which pointed out the influence of shape deviations on the feature of that connection.

Manufacturing errors of elements of axial-symmetrical fastenings, as well as assembly errors (incidental assembly) cause that fastenings condition is different that assumed ones by designer. Superposition of such errors is displayed by decreasing of fastening functionality, and in consequence of loss of technological and operating ability. Hence, it is needed to change the approach to axial-symmetrical fastenings designing. One of the main proceeding directions is to take into account the mating of real structure of the shape of transverse and longitudinal section of shaft and hole. In relation to the above it is essential to join achievements of measuring and computing technique for estimation of effort condition of fastening.
