A review of recent advances in biological performance of thermoplastic-bioceramic (TP-B) composites fabricated through 3D printing, bridging in vitro observations with in vivo outcomes. Across multiple studies, 3D-printed TP-B scaffolds have demonstrated robust cytocompatibility, osteoconductivity, and stable tissue integration, driven by a strong interplay between the physicochemical composition, printing-defined microarchitecture, and mechanical coherence. Increasing attention has been directed toward incorporating nanostructured bioceramics, which enhance surface reactivity and biological signaling but introduce processing challenges. In vitro and in vivo findings generally align; however, discrepancies in degradation kinetics, ion-exchange dynamics, and mechanobiological stimulation highlight the limitations of static cell models. Collectively, these insights outline current progress while emphasizing the need for optimized formulations to advance TP-B implants toward clinical application. Further advances are expected through multi-ceramic or ion-doped formulations, biofunctional strategies incorporating growth factors or bioactive (nano)-additives, 4D-printed mechanically adaptive architecture, and/or AI-assisted design tools, supported by more predictive large-animal and disease-specific models.

Przegląd literaturowy podsumowujący najnowsze osiągnięcia dotyczące właściwości biologicznych kompozytów termoplastycznobioceramicznych (TP-B) wytwarzanych z wykorzystaniem druku 3D, integrujący obserwacje badań in vitro z wynikami badań in vivo.

The article presents the results of numerical calculations examining the influence of channel roughness in a hydrodynamic clutch on the transmitted torque. Additionally, the study reports measurements of surface roughness and dimensional deviations of hydrodynamic clutch rotors. The rotors were manufactured using 3D printing based on material extrusion (MEX) technology and produced from three different materials: PLA, ABS, and PET-G. Based on the analysis of the obtained measurement and calculation results, the suitability of the MEX technology for manufacturing hydrodynamic clutch rotor prototypes is assessed. The results indicate that the surface roughness of the printed rotors is comparable to that of rotors produced by casting or machining. Moreover, the dimensional accuracy of the printed rotors lies within the tolerance range specified in the design of hydrodynamic clutch rotors. The article concludes with findings indicating that the adopted modeling and manufacturing procedure, employing the MEX technology, can be applied to produce hydrodynamic clutch rotor prototypes.

Additive manufacturing technology, a relatively new and dynamically evolving field, is increasingly used in a variety of manufacturing applications. On ships operated for a long period of time, where some parts are no longer manufactured, additive technology offers a forward-looking solution for the rapid and efficient reproduction of necessary components. This paper proposes a standardized operational workflow for managing requests and orders for 3D-printed components in the maritime industry, designed to address the unique challenges faced by vessels operating in remote locations. A case study involving the reconstruction of a fastening component within the control cabinet of a ship’s safety and RPM switch unit system demonstrates the practicality of this approach. The part is successfully reproduced using a standardized workflow, which began with the collection of photographs and measurements from the ship’s crew. This data enabled the creation of a precise 3D model and the subsequent production of 180 components made from PET-G material, selected for its durability and suitability for the intended application. The standardized workflow developed in this study minimized errors, reduced processing times, and ensured that the reproduced part met operational requirements. By establishing a scalable and adaptable framework for communication between the ship’s crew, engineers, and manufacturing facilities, the workflow highlights the transformative capability of additive technologies as a practical solution for the immediate needs of modern shipping operations.

During the use or maintenance of immovable heritage structures, there is often the need to create a copy of an original element, which is frequently a religious museum piece or a part of liturgical furnishings. Producing an accurate and functional replica—regardless of the underlying reasons—requires a technique capable of accurate reproduction. Key requirements for such a technique include short production time, high quality and relatively low cost. Additionally, the method should be versatile, widely accessible and easy to apply in practice. Photogrammetry, especially when combined with 3D printing, fulfils these requirements and enables the rapid creation of accurate replicas of movable objects of heritage. This article presents a case study involving the use of photogrammetry to produce a precise replica of a religious bas-relief. The study discusses both the advantages and the limitations of this approach, and identifies key parameters that enable the production of a 3D printed model based on a reconstruction from twodimensional photographic data.

The article presents tribological research on the cooperation of a kinematic pair composed of metallic and polymer biomaterials. In the sample tests, a material widely used in orthopaedics and dentistry was used (the medical titanium alloy Ti-6Al-4V obtained both by traditional manufacturing methods, i.e. casting, and the additive manufacturing method SLM/DLMS (3D printing)) and a counter sample (high-density polyethylene PE-UHMW). The friction pair selected in this way was subjected to tribological tests on a PT-3 tribometer under specific operating conditions. After the tribological tests, the change in tribological parameters, i.e. the coefficient of friction or abrasive wear on the surfaces of the tested biomaterials, was evaluated. The obtained results also enabled the assessment of the changes occurring in the geometric structure of the surface of the Ti-6Al-4V/ PE-UHMW friction pair for titanium samples obtained via drawn rod and 3D printing.

The research presented in this article represents a further stage in studies on the strength of components printed using 3D printing technology, specifically FDM (Fused Deposition Modelling). The article presents the results of tensile strength tests on samples printed from PA12 and PA12+CF15 materials, while previous studies by the author focused on PLA material. Basic material data provided by manufacturers and distributors of materials used in the FDM method, such as tensile strength and Young’s modulus, refer to the most favourable model orientation during printing. However, in additive technologies, particularly FDM, the constructed object shows significant layering differences (in the Z direction). The direction of material deposition (in the XY plane) is also crucial. Additionally, the strength is influenced by the degree and type of infill within the model and the temperature during printing. For these reasons, it is essential to understand the relationship between technological parameters and the resulting strength for specific materials. This study aimed to determine the tensile strength of samples printed with varying infill percentages. In the context of the new material, PA12+CF15, it is essential to understand how the addition of carbon fibers affects the mechanical properties of prints compared to traditional materials, such as PA12 and PLA. Carbon fibers can significantly increase the strength and stiffness of the composite, potentially leading to applications in producing parts with high strength requirements. Therefore, studying the strength of materials concerning various printing parameters is crucial for developing the potential of FDM technology and its industrial applications. PA12+CF15 is composed of polyamide 12 (PA12), a thermoplastic material with good chemical resistance, abrasion resistance, and flexibility. The addition of 15% carbon fibers (CF15) reinforces the composite structure, leading to increased stiffness, mechanical strength, and deformation resistance. The study shows that this addition enhances PA12’s strength by approximately 13%, also facilitating printing by reducing shrinkage.

3D printing is now becoming an integral part of technological development worldwide. The growing popularity of additive techniques means that more and more money is being spent on them, and their applications are gradually extending into more areas of life. Incremental manufacturing makes it possible to produce both prototypes and finished spare parts, the properties of which are comparable, and often almost identical, to components currently in use. With this technology, it is possible to create components with complex geometries without having to invest in costly, advanced mass production. 3D printing technologies make it possible to construct three-dimensional objects based on successive layers of material. Testing of the additive-printed samples was carried out using an orthogonal plan, in which factors are selected so that each is different from the others. This means that during the experiments, the influence of the individual parameters could be assessed independently, without interference from other variables. As part of the study, specimens were prepared and subjected to a static tensile test. The test models were printed with five different infill densities: 20; 40; 60; 80; and 100. After testing, the results obtained were collated in the form of graphs illustrating, among other things, the tensile strength of the Young’s modulus values and the percentage strain. These data were then analysed and described in detail for all selected materials. The highest tensile strength value was obtained for the PET-G material with 50.09 MPa at 100% infill. The lowest tensile strength value was achieved by the ASA material – 23.43 MPa at 20% infill. The highest Young’s Modulus value was achieved by the ASA material – 1924 MPa at 100% infill. The lowest value of the Young’s Modulus was obtained for the PET-G material – 934 MPa at 20% infill. The material and the infill density have no significant effect on the deformation value. The results showed that changing the infill density has an effect on the strength properties.

During using immovable monuments, it is very often necessary to create a copy of the original movable monument, often a museum object. The creation of a faithful usable copy, regardless of the reasons for the need to make it, requires the use of a technique that allows the creation of the duplicate itself. The key requirements for the technique of creating duplicates of movable monuments are the speed of their creation, high quality and relatively low cost of implementation. Another important issue is the universality of the method itself and its availability, as well as the ease of its application. These requirements are met by the photogrammetry technique, which, in combination with 3D printing, allows for the creation of faithful duplicates of movable monuments, including those that are equipment of sacred buildings, in a short time. This paper is a case study in which the application of the photogrammetry technique to create a faithful copy of a sacral bas-relief is described and presented. The paper discusses both the advantages and disadvantages of the photogrammetric technique, and determines important parameters that enable the creation of a spatial 3D print based on the reconstruction of a group of two-dimensional photos.

Introduction: A special type of radiotherapy is Intraoperative Electron Radiation Therapy (IOERT). The electron appli- cator is the element forming the final shape of the electron beam delivered to the postoperative bed. This work presents the new design of an electron applicator made from the biocompatible material MED610. The applicators will form an electron beam in the AQURE intraoperative accelerator. Material and methods: The main problem to be solved during the construction work was to propose a design solution for the electron applicator that would be light, transparent, and made of a biocompatible material, and at the same time sufficiently shield the patient against radiation scattered outside its walls. Moreover, the applicator used in intraoperative therapy should have the thinnest possible walls. Results: The calculations and design work performed allowed the lower part of the applicator to be made of a biocom- patible, material. This element allows the beam to be formed in accordance with the normative recommendations, it is light and transparent. In this case, PolyJet 3D printing was selected as the most appropriate method. Conclusions: Thanks to the use of a new solution for the shape of the walls, the applicator limits the leakage radiation by the standard, without the need for thicker outer walls. This material is light, thanks to which the doctor keeps this part of the applicator in the right position until it is fastened with the part on the head that does not require additional, dedicated fastening. The resin MED610 is suitable for 3D printing, it can be easily used to create any shape, and thus the possibilities of forming the lower part of the applicator are not limited. In the future, for individual purposes, the shape of the beam formed by the lower part of the applicator may be dedicated to special applications.

This paper presents a method for simplifying the manufacturing process of spiral liquid cooling channels in electric machines by combining conventional machining with 3D printing technology. A specially shaped insert produced using additive manufacturing, together with traditionally machined parallel channels, enables the creation of a spiral fluid flow path. Commonly used methods, such as CNC machining, are time-consuming and expensive, which may be economically unjustified in the case of prototyping or small-scale production. The use of a hybrid manufacturing process allows for reduced production time and effort while maintaining the required functionality and reliability of the cooling system.

Fused Deposition Modelling (FDM) is a category of MEX additive manufacturing processes that has gained considerable popularity. Its ability to produce cylindrical machine parts makes it a particularly useful technology in this field. In order to ascertain the accuracy of the cylindrical component, it is necessary to carry out a measurement and evaluation of the cylindricity deviation. This measurement can identify defects that are the consequence of the 3D printing process, thus providing valuable insight into the quality of the printed object. Nevertheless, in numerous studies, the impact of the manner in which STL digital files are saved on the formation of errors in the shape of cylindrical elements is overlooked. This article presents studies aimed at determining the influence of STL recording of a virtual model on the accuracy of the printout, as determined by the cylindricity deviation. The measurements were conducted using a Prismo Navigator coordinate measuring machine produced by Zeiss. It has been demonstrated that the manner in which a digital file is saved has an effect on the characteristics of irregularities in cylindrical surfaces, which, in turn, affects the value of cylindricity deviation. The findings of the study, as detailed in the article, will provide a framework for the selection of parameters for the recording of STL files, with the objective of obtaining cylindrical surfaces of an acceptable quality, 𝑖.𝑒. the lowest value of cylindricity deviation.
