This paper presents the calculation results and experimental tests of fatigue life for chromenickel steel 1.4301 (mark of steel: X5CrNi18-10) in programmable load conditions. A 10- step loading program with sequence of cycles Lo-Hi-Lo was used. Calculations of fatigue were carried out with the use of the following methods: stress based approach, strain based approach and stress-strain based approach. The results of calculations and experimental tests prove that the material cyclic properties and conditions of their determination have an influence on consistency of the results.
