Products made of clad sheets are a cost-effective alternative to products made entirely of cladding material. The cladding process aims to enhance functional properties, such as corrosion resistance and tribological properties, or modify mechanical properties and conductivity. This publication analyzes the influence of the rolling method on the cold forming ability of explosive welded Ti/steel sheets. Special attention was paid to the quality of the connection between the sheets, as it significantly impacts clad sheet formability. The drawability of these clad sheets was assessed based on the mechanical and technological properties, as well as through microstructural analyses. Experimental analyses revealed that hot rolling of the clad leads to the disappearance of the wave character of the interface and formation in its area of the Frenkel plane and interface layer, which significantly affect the mechanical and technological properties of the analyzed clad. Better cold forming ability, especially in reverse bend test, were obtained for asymmetrically rolled clad, which exhibits greater uniformity of structure.
The aim of the research was to select a material from which a washer can be made, so that it can be connected to an E355 steel tube by Rotary Friction Welding (RFW). It was decided to choose the steel grade X6CrMo17-1. The numerical model of the RFW process was built using the finite element method (FEM) using the ADINA System software. The numerical model takes into account the friction coefficient with variable values depending on the temperature. Numerical simulations of the process made it possible to determine the temperature fields in the weld cross-section. For the assumed process parameters: rotational speed of 14,000 rpm, friction time of 1.5 s and friction force of 600 N, the peak temperature occurred in the middle of the friction surface at the end of the friction phase and amounted to 1050 C. The results of the temperature analysis are one of the most important parameters for the implementation of subsequent calculations, such as the calculation of structural changes, hardness, residual stresses and deformations.
Rapidly rising metal prices force scientists to develop innovative materials. Therefore, composite structures, including sandwich structures, are gaining more and more popularity. The paper presents an assessment of a composite beam which is an alternative to a steel beam. The aim of the work was to determine the bending resistance of the steel-OSB composite beam. The subject of the three-point bending tests was a sandwich beam made of three 25 mm thick oriented strand boards and two 2 mm thick steel sheets. The components of the beam were joined with a polymer glue. The beam had a rectangular section 80 mm wide and 50 mm high. Its length was 800 mm. The tested bending capacity of the beam was 1 kNm. The work also included tests of the mechanical properties of the steel sheets used for the construction of the beam. As a result, the weight and consumption of steel in the steel-OSB composite beam and the analytically designed steel beam were compared.

Sheet metal forming belongs to one of the most important technologies enabling the production durable but quite lightweight metal parts. The quality of the drawn parts depends on the deformed sheet metal, applied forming technology and process parameters, such as contact pressure, relative velocity, temperature or lubrication. The forming of steel (1.4021) parts using benign lubricant is analysed. The paper proposes replacing conventional mineral/synthetic lubricants with ones based on vegetable oils and boric acid. The effectiveness of the lubricants was assessed in laboratory strip drawing and cupping tests, and in production. An oil-based lubricant with an additive of boric acid is very effective in reducing frictional resistance and protecting the forming tools against galling.
The study presents an analysis of wear of tools made of 1.2344 steel and MP159 alloy for the process of obtaining an overlap joint in 1.0 mm and 0.8 mm sheet metal made of 7075 T6 aluminum alloy using friction stir welding (FSW) technology. Tool geometry was designed at the Czestochowa University of Technology. Evaluation of tool wear was conducted based on the measurements of geometry of working area of tools by means of a multisensory meter system and based on the assessment of the working area by means of a stereoscope after individual stages of wear tests. Furthermore, based on the results of a static tensile strength test and metallographic examinations of the specimens sampled from the joints obtained during tool wear tests, the effect of the degree of tool wear on joint quality was also evaluated. Analysis of the results revealed that both the tool made of 1.2344 steel and that made of MP159 alloy were substantially worn, increasing the risk of further use of the tools for the joint material (7075-T6) after obtaining the joint with length of 200m, which suggests their low durability. Furthermore, modification of tool geometry caused by wear led to insignificant improvements in joint strength. Therefore, the results of wear measurement set directions for further modification of tool geometry, also due to the fact that despite a substantial wear, the tools continued to yield high-quality joints without defects. As demonstrated in the study, the type of tool material does not only impact on tool life but also, as it was the case in their geometry, has a significant effect on the quality of obtained joints. Although the tool made of MP159 alloy was worn more than the tool made of 1.2344 steel, it allowed for obtaining the joints with substantially better strength parameters.
