Offshore wind energy (OWE) constitutes a significant instrument for implementing the European Union’s energy transition policy. However, the wind farms require substantial resources, including labour. Poland’s offshore wind farm development programme is presently entering a critical stage; consequently, the precise determination of labour demand has become essential for ensuring the effective implementation of national energy transition objectives. The objective of the study is to estimate the overall labour requirements associated with the Polish OWE program. The lack of extensive domestic experience in the sector, the analysis draws upon best practices established in other countries. A model schedule for the implementation of the OWE program in Poland was also determined. The findings include an estimation of labour demand across the entire life cycle of offshore wind farms. This study offers guidance on both quantitative and qualitative workforce needs – specifically in relation to education and skills development – thereby supporting the public sector in preparing qualified personnel for the national economy, with particular emphasis on the energy sector.

In this study, the effect of various parameters on the power coefficient (𝐶P) performance of a vertical axis wind turbine (VAWT) was optimized using the Taguchi method. The optimization was conducted with the Taguchi method, employing three control factors: blade-spoke connection (BSC), turbine blade pitch angle (𝛽), and turbine blade pitch direction (𝜑). Subsequently, the analysis of variance (ANOVA) method was employed to determine the contribution ratio of each control factor. Regression analysis (RA) was applied to develop an empirical equation predicting the P of the VAWT, incorporating the control factors. The results indicated an optimal parameter configuration of BSC = 0.5c, 𝛽 = 2° , and 𝜑 = (-), which maximizes the system performance. The performance of the optimal model was observed to exceed that of the conventional VAWT (B1) by 5.82%. Using the ANOVA method, the contribution of parameters on the P performance of the VAWT was ranked as follows: 𝜑 > BSC > 𝛽. The 𝜑 parameter has the most significant effect at 82.07%, whereas the 𝛽 parameter exhibits the least effect of 1.17%. Moreover, the predictive accuracy of the developed regression model was validated, yielding 2 values of 0.9221 for the training data and 0.9908 for the test data.

This study proposes an intelligent Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) technique for a grid-connected hybrid renewable energy system (HRES) that integrates photovoltaic (PV) and wind energy conversion system (WECS). The novel approach is based on the crow search algorithm (CSA), a bio-inspired optimization method aimed at improving energy extraction efficiency at fluctuating environmental conditions. In such hybrid systems, conventional MPPT algorithms often encounter difficulties due to nonlinear system behavior and the intermittent nature of resources, particularly under partial shading or turbulent wind patterns. To overcome these issues, CSA is implemented to dynamically track the global maximum power point (GMPP) across both the variable-speed wind turbine and the PV array under shade. The proposed controller is assessed using MATLAB/Simulink simulations, with its performance benchmarked against the widely used Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) technique. The simulation results suggest that the CSA-based method offers faster convergence, higher tracking precision, and improved overall system stability. These outcomes point to CSA as a promising option for real-time MPPT control in hybrid renewable energy systems, though practical validation remains an important future step.

Shipping is one of the major sources of greenhouse gas emissions; therefore, immediate actions must be taken in the field of sustainable development. This study focuses on exploring the use of renewable energy to mitigate emissions and enhance energy efficiency on board ships. Hence, technologies for capturing, utilizing, and storing solar, wind, and carbon energy are investigated. Further, the study weighs these approaches in terms of benefits, drawbacks, and potential application in sustainable maritime operations. To quantify the practicability of the solutions analyzed, an interdisciplinary approach intertwining feasibility analysis, simulation modeling, and policy evaluation is used. Topics discussed include technological barriers, economic barriers, and regulatory frameworks. It also highlights recent advances with great environmental potential in shipping, such as hybrid propulsion systems and fuel cell technologies. The results showed that the hybrid systems with renewable energy combined with CCUS can reduce CO₂ emissions from ships up to 90%, which, in the best case, simultaneously imparts an increased operational efficiency and environmental sustainability. The study therefore examined regulatory and policy options that could facilitate the transition to renewable energy in this sector, and the industrial application of these technologies is thus presented as a key stage in environmentally sustainable development.

Aukcje OZE to system wsparcia finansowego dla producentów energii odnawialnej (czyli z biogazu, biomasy, wiatru, słońca itp.), wprowadzony w Polsce ustawą o OZE w 2015 roku.

RES auctions are a financial support system for renewable energy producers (i.e. from biogas, biomass, wind, sun, etc.), introduced in Poland by the RES Act in 2015. Thanks to this system, the state guarantees the producer that it will buy energy from them at a guaranteed price for a specified number of years (usually 15 years) - even if the price of energy falls on the market. Biogas plants, thanks to the stability and predictability of energy production, are an important complement to dynamically developing but unstable renewable sources, such as photovoltaics and wind energy. In the context of striving for a low-emission economy, biogas plants are gaining importance as regulatory sources, capable of stabilizing energy networks by flexibly adjusting production to demand. Biogas plants, as a stable and predictable source of renewable energy, perfectly fit into the assumptions of the RES auction system, which will be continued in 2025 in accordance with the schedule presented by the President of the Energy Regulatory Office.

The knowledge of the metocean data is important for the design and construction of different equipment in offshore area. The paper presents an analysis of environmental factors in different conditions in the location of study, GALATA platform, Bulgaria. The results of the analysis (wind statistics, wind distribution rose, wind speed extreme, monthly mean vertical profile of wind speed) cover the period 2008-2023. To analyse correct design of floating wind turbines must establish wind speed extreme. The data sets obtained were validated using the CFS3D wind database. To study the risks in vicinity of platforms we used tools of NEAT+ software which provides the opportunity to make informed decisions and implement appropriate preventive and corrective measures to protect the environment. The results of the experimental research indicate a favourable general state of the environment in the Black Sea vicinity of platforms area.

This article examines how increased wind flow velocity above the ridge of a gable roof influences the torque generated by a Savonius wind turbine. The study consisted of two stages: numerical simulations using SolidWorks Flow Simulation, and quasi-static wind tunnel measurements. The primary aim was to validate a simplified numerical model using experimental data, considering varying geometric parameters: specifically, roof pitch angles (30°, 45°, 60°) and the distance from the turbine's axis to the roof ridge (450–710 mm). A grid sensitivity analysis was performed, and torque values were compared as a function of the rotor's angle of rotation. The observed flow blockage over the ridge resulted in a significant increase in torque, underscoring the importance of strategically positioning the wind turbine where wind speeds are highest. These findings can inform the optimal placement of small VAWT systems in urban settings.

Uzyskane rezultaty mogą stanowić podstawę do optymalizacji rozmieszczenia przydomowych turbin VAWT w środowisku zabudowanym

Azerbaijan is currently an exporter of oil and gas, but its goal is to sustain its status as an energy exporter by investing in green energy projects for the future. The aim of this paper is to establish a conceptual framework that explores how Azerbaijan, an oil-rich country, can transform into a green energy exporter. This study compares various green energy export scenarios. Findings show that (1) transitioning from fossil fuel exports to green energy generally reduces  exporter vulnerability and enhances domestic energy security, despite increasing exposure to international market forces; (2) Azerbaijan could increase its green energy exports to comprise  as much as 14% of its exports in the coming years; (3) through these green energy initiatives,  Azerbaijan can sustain its role as an energy exporter well beyond 2050; (4) the results of the  I-O model show that achieving green energy export targets could lead to a 6.7% increase in Azerbaijan’s total output; (5) this shift would also play a crucial role in diversifying the country’s  export base and formation of net-zero energy systems; (6) it would allow Europe to diversify  its energy supply and reduce its dependence on a single country. By combining two different approaches, Azerbaijan has the potential to transition its exports from oil and gas to green energy, thereby positioning itself as a model for other oil-rich nations pursuing sustainable energy development.
