The article analyses technical problems encountered in continuing the implementation of investments that had been interrupted for several years, with particular emphasis on the underground sections intended for garages. Attention was paid to the dampness of the structure, which has not been protected against water and moisture penetration for a long time. Using the example of a selected object, defects requiring repair before further construction were analysed. Methods for their removal have been proposed, with the proviso that these are not universal solutions and that each case requires an individual choice based on the building’s technical condition.

Nowadays, with large construction projects and climate changes involving violent weather events, it is difficult to work out an appropriate timeframe in the construction schedule for performing work. Violent downpours occur in months previously considered suitable for carrying out some construction work. The paper addresses the use of damp materials during the construction of wall partitions and the impact of excess moisture on their continued use using the example of perlite concrete blocks. The paper refers to previously performed studies on the study of moisture, thermal conductivity coefficient, strength, and shows a prototype method of mapping adverse weather conditions for a wall made of perlite concrete blocks subjected to systematic wetting.
The article presents selected issues related to the hygrothermal design of insulated wall systems from the inside. The presented issues concerned the influence of specific factors on changes in the moisture content of insulated partition materials over time. These included: external environmental conditions (driving rain, orientation, location and others), internal climate (different moisture load), moisture of the existing wall and the thickness of thermal insulation and the method of defining it.

W artykule przedstawiono wybrane zagadnienia dotyczące projektowania higrotermicznego układów ściennych ocieplanych od wewnątrz. Prezentowana problematyka dotyczy wpływu określonych czynników na zmianę zawilgocenia materiałów izolowanej przegrody w czasie. Należały do nich: warunki środowiska zewnętrznego (zacinający deszcz, orientacja, lokalizacja i inne), klimat wewnętrzny (zróżnicowane obciążenie wilgocią), zawilgocenie istniejącego muru oraz grubość izolacji termicznej i sposób jej definiowania.
The use of frame structures requires the design of partitions with appropriate thermal and moisture properties. The results of material tests (sorption, water absorption, thermal conductivity coefficient) and simulation of partition drying are presented. Laboratory data confirm the high susceptibility of some of the analyzed materials to moisture absorption. Numerical analysis has shown that the partitions do not regain moisture balance even after a dozen or so months.

Among all the methods of metal forming, green sand moulding is the most commonly used method due to its low cost and high speed of work. Main constituents of green sand mould are sand, water, coal dust and binder. Mechanical properties like permeability, green compressive strength, mould hardness, compactibility and moisture content of green sand directly affects the quality of castings produced. This research is done to investigate the effect of input parameters (bentonite, garcolap powder, water) on the mechanical properties of green sand mould. Three levels of each input parameter were considered, and the experiments were designed using design expert software version-13. The regression analysis was performed on the experimental results using Minitab software version-21 to evaluate the effect of bentonite, garcolap powder and water on mechanical properties of green sand mould. Twenty experiments were designed by the software. Values of mechanical properties of green sand like compactibility, permeability, mould hardness, green compressive strength and moisture content were measured by performing experiments on specimen prepared from green sand in accordance with the IS: 1918-1966. Measured values were compared with the standard for validation. Results of this research clearly indicate that bentonite is the only input parameter which has the highest effect on mechanical properties of green sand mould.
The moisture content of building materials, especially in porous media, such as cellular concrete, is a serious problem affecting the durability, quality of thermal insulation and safety of structures. Traditional methods of moisture assessment, based on gravimetric laboratory analyses, are time-consuming. The alternatives are the indirect techniques, such as time-domain reflectometry (TDR), which allow for quick measurements by analyzing the dielectric properties of materials. The aim of this work was to develop predictive models estimating moisture content of cellular concrete depending on its apparent density and other material parameters. The article used both classical regression models θ(ε), θ(ε,ρ) and artificial intelligence methods, including neural networks (NN), regression trees, support vector machines (SVM) and Gaussian Process Regression (GPR) models. The θ(ε) model performed best at cellular concrete type 400 kg/m³ (R² = 0.9433), but its accuracy declined at higher densities. The universal θ(ε,ρ) model gives better results at 500 and 600 kg/m³ type cellular concretes, with an overall R² of 0.9340. However, AI models outperformed both of them. The GPR model achieved near-perfect predictions (R² ≈ 0.9999, RMSE = 0.0021 – 0.0032 cm³/cm³), while SVM and NN also showed high accuracy (R² = 0.9914–0.9960) with significantly lower errors than deterministic regression models. Comparison of the effectiveness of these approaches allowed for the assessment of the accuracy of moisture prediction based on different data sources. The obtained results indicate the significant potential of AI application in monitoring the moisture content of building materials, offering more effective and precise diagnostic tools compared to traditional methods.
Zapewnienie wysokiej trwałości obiektu nowo budowanego lub remontowanego jest pierwszoplanowym zadaniem projektującego i nadzoru technicznego. Powierzchowna znajomość zasad pracy konstrukcji wykonawcy sprzyja powstawaniu błędów, usterek, wad, a to obniża trwałość obiektu.

Ensuring high durability of a newly built or renovated facility is the primary task of the designer and technical supervision. A superficial knowledge of the construction work principles of the contractor is conducive to the occurrence of errors, faults, defects, and this reduces the durability of the object. On the example of a repaired pitched roof, cases of errors made as a result of the supervisor’s excessive trust in the contractor who employed workers without satisfactory professional training were shown. Supervision by the Investor did not detect some errors, seemingly trivial but significantly reducing the durability of the renovated steep roof. The mistakes consisted mainly in directing the water to places where it moistened the rafters. In turn, the drying of these elements was hindered by the clogging of the ventilation channels in the roof: sawdust, garbage left on the foil of the initial covering, which slid down to the eaves.

The article deals with the issues of assessing the conditions of hydrate formation when mixing natural gas flows of various standards. An urgent problem of operation, especially of offshore subsea gas pipelines, is the prediction of the time, place and expected intensity of hydrate formation. Depending on the changing operating mode of the gas pipeline, dispatch service specialists must be able to adjust the process control tactics on their own, as quickly as possible. The predisposition of a particular gas pipeline to hydrate is also important for the dispatching service. Changes in the volumes of gas entering the region under consideration from different sources, due to the constant change in gas production, create the need to mix gases of different standards and pump them into subsea gas pipeline. To avoid hydrate formation, it is important to predict the thermobaric conditions that will be formed in the gas pipeline by considering the characteristics such as a volume in the mixture and the moisture content of the gas. The processes of hydrate formation proceed quickly and if the beginning of the process is overlooked, the problem of significant or complete blockage of the gas pipeline might appear. The paper gives a systematization of the risk of hydrate formation depending on several infrastructural factors – the presence of a preliminary gas drying system and a system for starting and receiving cleaning pistons. A method is proposed for estimating the moisture content and dew point temperature of a natural gas mixture by the condition and the proportion of primary flows. It has been shown that the addition of a small volume of undried gas to the main dried gas significantly increases the risk of hydrate formation. A formula is given for calculations for a mixture of multiple natural gas flows. The advantage of this method is the quick calculations, and the absence of the need for huge mathematical calculations and laboratory studies. This is an important element in the activities of the dispatch service, limited by a lack of time in the process of preventing hydrate formation.

Zmiany objętości gazu docierającego do rozpatrywanego regionu z różnych źródeł, w związku z ciągłą zmianą wydobycia gazu, powodują konieczność mieszania gazów o różnych standardach i wtłaczania ich do gazociągu podmorskiego. Podano wzór do obliczeń w przypadku mieszaniny wielu strumieni gazu ziemnego.
