The article contains the results of the analysis of the political parties' participation in creating Germany's security policy spreading over a period from the rise of the Federal Republic of Germany until 2004. Presented considerations disclose the evolution of the principles of external security policy in the main political parties. An important theme is also election and policy aspects of the particular political groups' participation in German federal government as well as indicating the range of their political responsibility in context of the broadly understood state security.
